Overview of Kaged Muscle Supplements In-Kaged
Kaged Muscle Supplements started as a magazine…did you know that? Neither did I until I spoke with CEO Kris Gethin on our Be Informed. Live Fit. podcast. Kaged Muscle makes great supplements of high quality ingredients.
In-Kaged is part of the Pre-Kaged/In-Kaged/Re-Kaged series from Kaged Muscle Supplements. It’s a solid intra-workout product consisting of BCAAs and extra endurance, pump and energy. It’s a step above other intra-workouts, the only thing that needs work is their flavoring.
Testing Results and Ratings
We reviewed Kaged Muscle Supplements In-Kaged on five categories. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the amount of aminos used, as well as the kind of aminos, the ratio and other ingredients involved in the making of this BCAA powder.
We then look at effectiveness. A high BCAA product will be effective. This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.
Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Cherry Lemonade.
Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.
Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of BCAA products on the market; both with and without caffeine.
On paper, In-Kaged might be one of the best intra-workout supplements on the planet. It starts with 5g of the trusted 2:1:1 ratio BCAA. These are fermented BCAAs meaning they come from vegan sources. At 5g that is a good dosage of BCAAs.
On-top-of-the BCAAs, we get pump, endurance, cognitive and energy ingredients. It starts with 3g of L-Citrulline. Now, if you know anything about L-Citrulline, you know that it improves blood flow to help increase your pump. This helps with muscle recovery. The clinical dosage of L-Citrulline is actually 3-5g if it is pure. A nice addition. I love Citrulline added intra-workout.
Next, we get 1.6g of Beta Alanine. This is typically found in your pre-workout. The clinical dosage is 3.2g, so we are getting 50% of the accepted dosage in an intra-workout. This is meant to prolong endurance. Along those lines, we get 500mg of Coconut Water Powder. This helps with hydration, and is the typical dosage we find of this ingredient.
Taurine is dosed at 1g, solid, and is meant for strength output. We find this in a lot of pre-workouts too, dosed at 1g-2g. Getting a full gram in an intra-workout means something. We also get 500mg of L-Tyrosine. This is a cognitive enhancing ingredient. This is also found in a lot of pre-workouts, dosed at 1g or more. Keep in-mind, this is an intra-workout.
The last addition that makes this different than other intra-workouts is the addition of 124mg of PurCaf Caffeine. This is a little extra to keep you going while you workout.
If you’re familiar with the KM line, you noticed that many of these ingredients are stand alone ingredients as well. They are dosed correctly making this a solid 10 out of 10 on profile.
An intra-workout product, like In-Kaged, should do one main thing: reduce muscle inflammation known as DOMS. This is done by using a quality amino at an accepted ratio. We get that here with the 2:1:1 BCAA. We also experienced this in real-life. There was not any DOMS post-workout or days after.
On-top-of-that, you get a couple extra benefits you experience. You do get better blood flow, and this is proven by looking into a mirror. You will notice your muscles are more full, which is a good thing. You also feel like you’re being hydrated better by the addition of coconut water powder. Having Beta Alanine helps prolong your lift, which was experienced as well.
Lastly, you have improved energy. The addition of PurCaf is noticeable as you don’t get a crash from your pre-workout. You are able to keep a nice, consistent energy throughout.
Overall, a very effective intra-workout product. One of the best in terms of effectiveness.
The one issue I have had with all KM Supplements has been flavor. Cherry Lemonade sounds wonderful and tasty, but honestly it was hard to get down. It wasn’t a flavor I loved. It wasn’t impossible to drink, but I know it can be much better. I know KM doesn’t use artificial flavors, but other brands don’t either and they get the flavor right. If they could get this right, this would be a slam dunk #1 rated intra-workout product.
A serving size is 16.9g, which is large for an intra-workout. It does mix well. I use a full shaker cup to ensure I have enough liquids to consume while working out. That is about 24oz of water, which this mixes nicely in. Check out the video to see an example of it.
Many BCAA products and intra-workout products are about $1 a serving. We get 20-servings for in the mid-$20s. This comes in just above a $1/serving, but we’re getting quality BCAAs (fermented), and the addition of Citrulline, Beta Alanine, Taurine, Caffeine, Tyrosine and Coconut Water Powder, ingredients you don’t find in many, if any, intra-workouts. Priced right – this gives you everything you’d need.
