In today’s Brand Spotlight, we’re going over a brand that you most likely have heard of, or at least have seen. Grenade is a brand that has been around for quite some time, and they have really made a name for themselves over the past few years with their protein spread and protein bars. They actually do have some supplements (as well as functional foods) that do well overseas, however in the US, they are mainly known for their functional foods.

Grenade is so popular in the UK, that their bar alone has 60% of market share, which is quite impressive. While it’s popular in the United States for brands to come and go over 5 years, grenade seems to just be doing just fine. In fact, they have been around for 10 years now! The bars were launched 5 years ago, and have since really defined the brand.

The brand got an early start to the functional foods game. While bars in the past were more so actual candy bars with protein thrown in them, Grenade got the low sugar, high protein game down without adding a bunch of Corn Fiber like many brands have done. These bars won’t bloat or constipate you. They simply taste good, are low sugar, have enough protein, and have stood the test of time.

Why Grenade Products?

Grenade can make your dieting fun. The bars for example, are not simple protein bars, they are more like a protein candy bar.

The Spreads are certainly a nice option to have on hand as well. Simply adding it to certain foods can make dieting a hell of a lot easier. Of course, they are certainly a better option to put on your ezekiel toast when compared to Nutella.

It takes a lot of time before a flavor is approved for release. According to Grenade, it can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years before a flavor gets the go-ahead to get onto the market. There is a reason why Grenade is known for their great tasting products.

Grenade Carb Killa

Fat: 10g
Carbohydrate: 21g  (3 grams of Fiber)
Protein: 20g

Of course the macros may vary depending on the flavor.

Speaking of flavors, Grenade has a wide variety of flavors to choose from. There are currently 9 flavors to choose from, these include Dark Chocolate Raspberry, Gingerbread, Caramel Chaos, Birthday Cake, among more.

With so many options it makes it hard to get bored, which is probably why they do so well.

Grenade Carb Killa Go Nutz

The macros on this are quite impressive:

Fat: 10g
Carbohydrate: 16g
Protein: 10g

While not as much of a protein bar as the regular Carb Killa, it can certainly make for a great snack, especially if you are a vegan. This one only comes in two flavors, which are Salted Peanut and Spicy Chili.

Grenade Carb Killa Spread

Grenade Carb Killa Protein SpreadNow while bars are nice, Grenade also offers another solid “functional food”. This is, of course, their Carb Killa Spread. Looking at it, it simply looks like a Nutella knock-off but it’s certainly a bit different. When you compare the macros per serving of the 2 products, and are a health enthusiast, you’d most likely gravitate to the spread.

The macros are as follows:

Fat: 13g
Carbohydrates: 11g (only 2g sugar)
Protein: 7g

Carb Killa Spread comes in 3 flavors, which are Hazel Nutter, Milk Chocolate, and White Chocolate Cookie. You’re bound to like one of them.

Final Takeaway

There is no way we can’t respect what Grenade has done. With 10 years of existence, Grenade has solidified themselves as a brand that is here to stay. While their supplements aren’t as popular here in the US as they are overseas, they are certainly a contender for best protein bar on the market, and we’d encourage you to try them if you haven’t. With plenty of flavors to choose from, they could easily become a bar you keep around for times when your sweet tooth is bugging you but you have to stay on point with your diet.
