These bars included bison, chicken, salmon, bison and beef. If you’ve never had one, they are delicious.

EPIC is now taking on the “overnight” giant RX Bar with their new line of performance bars. The packaging and ingredients look very similar to the popular RX Bar with a few slight changes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/2″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][image_with_animation image_url=”5389″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/2″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][image_with_animation image_url=”5390″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/2″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]The main differences between EPIC Bar’s performance bar and RX Bar is the source of ingredients and some nutritional info. Let’s first dive into the ingredient differences.

EPIC Bar is using cage free egg whites. This is a big difference from RX Bar. RX Bar just uses egg whites. There is a nice sustainability story with the EPIC Bar that falls in-line with their brand story and image. Just ask yourself the question, when you buy eggs at the store, do you prefer cage free? If so, EPIC Bar has that for you in here. Another big difference, EPIC Bar uses 5 ingredients while RX Bar lists 7 on their label.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]The other big difference is nutritional data. Bar sizes are relatively the same with EPIC at 53g and RX at 52g. EPIC Bar has less fat than RX Bar. Comparing the two Peanut Butter Chocolate flavors for the respected brands, EPIC Bar has 7g of fat versus RX Bar 10g of fat.

The other nutritional difference comes in the form of sugar. EPIC Bar has more sugar at 20g versus RX Bar at 13g. The protein content of both bars are 12g.

EPIC Performance Bars are available in four flavors: Peanut Butter Chocolate, Almond Butter Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Lemon.

RX Bar blew up overnight, but now has to deal with the challenge of EPIC, who has shown over the past year that it can too play with the big boys in the protein bar space.

I have tried both bars. I am not a fan of RX Bar. Never have been and most likely never will be. I don’t like the texture or the flavors. I was able to try EPIC Bars before they hit market, and I do prefer them over RX Bar. Texture is relatively the same, but I enjoyed the flavor of EPIC Bar over RX Bar.

These bars are not targeting the bodybuilding in us, but are promoting a much healthier snack option that the majority of options out there. Many of today’s performance protein bars are packed with sugar alcohols and other ingredients that no one can pronounce. EPIC is taking a huge leap of faith when they challenge RX, but if any brand can do it, I think EPIC is the brand to take on the challenge full steam ahead.
