Overview of REPP Sports Reactr
REPP Sports, a new company as of 2017, hit the ground running hard with it’s pre-workout supplement Reactr. REPP Sports also released several other “hardcore” supplements such as Raze, a thermogenic fat burner with the inclusion of DMHA. REPP Sports is quickly becoming one of the “cool” brands in the industry by creating quality products that produce results.
REPP Sports Reactr is an awesome pre-workout supplement. Hands-down it is one of the better pre-workouts available on the market. Reactr utilizes DMHA to provide the energy you need in the gym, but it doesn’t forget about the pump or focus. Reactr also pumps in 45-servings into the container making it a great value for your pre-workout needs.
Testing Results and Ratings
We reviewed REPP Sports Reactr on five categories. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in the pre-workout, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.
We then look at effectiveness. An effective pre-workout will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages. This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.
Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Blue Magic, Dragonfruit, Rainbow Burst, and Zap Berry.
Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.
Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of pre-workout products on the market.
It will become rather apparent here on FI that we are not fans of proprietary blends in products. Why? Well, we cannot appropriately breakdown the dosages for you. Reactr contains three major components to the pre-workout: pump, focus and energy. Each of these “complexes” contains it’s own proprietary blend. We would be more disappointed if this product wasn’t effective, but nonetheless we would like to see the curtain pealed back on Reactr.
With that being said, Reactr does focus in on the three main components of a pre-workout supplement. They use very unique names. The pump complex is called, “Free Tickets to the Gun Show. The focus complex is called, “Wait For It…Tunnelvission.” Finally, the energy complex, which utilizes DMHA, is called, “Have You Ever Chewed On A Powerline?”
The pump matrix includes key ingredients we tend to find in a lot of pump products. This contains 4000mg (4g) of a proprietary blend. The first ingredient is Beta-Alanine which is shown to increase strength while exercises…allowing you to get those couple extra reps. This is optimally dosed above 2g. The next ingredient, Betaine Anhydrous, is shown to improve overall performance and strength output. This is optimally dosed around 2-3g. It would be safe to say that these two ingredients are not dosed at high levels that we are used too in some pre-workouts. The next ingredient, Taurine, increases muscle strength. This is optimally dosed around 500-2000mg. It’s finally rounded out with Citrulline Malate. This is used to increase nitric oxide in your body. I have seen this as high as 6g. Based on all the details the right ingredients are used, however it is safe to say that it is under dosed per other pre-workouts.
The focus matrix uses four ingredients that are commonly used to work with your central nervous system and blood flow to the brain to improve cognitive functions and increase your focus. You get 555mg of this proprietary blend. The first ingredient is Acetyl L-Tyrosine which increases alertness and functionality. This is optimally dosed at 500-2000mg. The next ingredient is Choline Bitartrate which has cognitive boosting capabilities. This is optimally dosed at 250-500mg. Mucana Pruriens is the next ingredient which works as a mood enhancer. There is no optimal dosage at this time due to lack of research. The last ingredient is Huperzine which is a cognitive enhancer. Optimal dosage is 50-200mcg per day. With this info it is safe to say that this matrix is under dosed on certain ingredients as well.
The final matrix is the energy matrix. This is where DMHA lives. You get 322mg of Caffeine Anhydrous, DMHA, Caffeine Citrate, Citrus Aurantium Extract, Hordenine HCl, Yohimbine and Black Pepper Extract. DMHA is typically dosed higher than something like DMAA (DMAA at 75mg per 150-200mg of DMHA). DMHA is essentially caffeine on roids. Caffeine Anhydrous can be dosed anywhere from 200-300mg but with the use of DMHA you don’t need to use as much. Citrus Aurantium (Orange Bitter), Hordenine and Yohimbine are typically used in fat burners as they speed up your body’s system (like caffeine) to burn fat. Dosages on these vary or there isn’t enough info available yet. I believe this to be a top-heavy matrix where most of this comes from Caffeine A and DMHA. However, without a fully disclosed label I am not sure. Overall a good selection of ingredients used.
I am not going to lie, although I know this product is under dosed on certain ingredients it is still effective. Proprietary blended products can be effective. This is living proof. I believe REPP Sports dosed the ingredients that provided the most effect as close too properly as they could (i.e. DMHA at 150-200mg).
I will say that the “pump” of this was lacking, but I figured that would be the case just from the ingredient list.
The focus and the energy of this was great. I would typically take 1.5 servings (a scoop and a half). This was great energy and awesome focus. I workout very early in the mornings, around 5:30am, so I needed something strong to get me going. Within 15-20 minutes of taking the energy kicked in. After you started your first set, about 30 minutes after taking, you are laser-sharp focused in on the task at hand. This is one of my favorite pre-workouts in terms of effectiveness. I was a big fan.
I will never base my purchase decision for a pre-workout on flavor, but REPP Sports Reactr tasted fantastic. I used every flavor. I think my favorite was Rainbow Burst, but they were all awesome. As far as pre-workouts go, there are not many out there with a better flavor profile than Reactr.
As I mentioned up in the “Effectiveness” section I would normally take 1.5 servings so for me mixability wasn’t as strong as a one-serving. With one serving it mixed fairly well. There were particles still floating around and at the bottom if I let it sit but it was not anything that was unbearable. This was much better than a lot of pre-workouts I have had in terms of mixability.
REPP Sports Reactr is a great valued pre-workout. It lists for around $40 but you have to remember, instead of the typical 20/30 servings, you’re actually getting 45-servings. That is less than $1/serving. Other DMHA based pre-workouts sell for $35/$40 as well but only get 25 servings. You can get away with the 1.5 servings like I did and pay essentially the same price as the others but still get more servings.
