Forms of CBD and their differences

Welcome to our series on CBD. As the CBD industry grows, we are learning as we go and want to help you learn as well. Since CBD is easily the fastest growing ingredient these days, we have no choice but to follow it with watchful eyes to make sure you do not get duped by ridiculous claims.

Forms of CBD

Today we are doing a quick hit on the 3 various forms of CBD products. We have Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and Isolated CBD. The differences are quite simple to comprehend, but before we go into them, let’s talk about cannabinoids and why it’s important to understand.

Top start off, we have to mention that there are 113 known Cannabinoids, and CBD is just one of them (THC is one as well).

Full Spectrum CBD

Full Spectrum CBD is what you’ll usually see most companies go with. As of now, it seems to be the most popular form on the market, and for good reason.

Full Spectrum means that it has the entire spectrum of cannabinoids in the product. Think of it this way, if you were to extract oil from hemp, it would have not just CBD in it, but rather the all of the naturally occurring cannabinoids from hemp oil in it.

A study showed that it may be optimal to go with a full-spectrum CBD product as opposed to a taking an isolated form. So for now, this is what we recommend.

We have to note that Full Spectrum CBD means it has THC in it, and as of right now, CBD products are not allowed to have more than 0.3% THC content in them.

Broad Spectrum CBD

Next up we have Broad Spectrum CBD. This is similar to Full Spectrum, however is has THC removed. So it has the benefits of CBD and other cannabinoids, without the worry of any traces of THC.

This will still provide the “Entourage Effect” that Full Spectrum has vs the isolated form, just without the potential benefits of low-dosed THC.

CBD Isolate

To make this as simple as possible, CBD isolate is just the specific cannabinoid. THC can be isolated, CBD can be isolated, as well as any of the other Cannabinoids. CBD Isolate will give you the benefits associated with pure CBD, however as we mentioned above, this does not necessarily make it better than Full Spectrum for getting the benefits of CBD.

A new drug called Epidiolex®, is Isolated CBD. It’s being used for the purpose of reducing seizures in people with Dravet or LGS (Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome). Just more proof that CBD has high potential!

Final Takeaway

Hopefully we have broken it down easy enough for you. For now, we simply suggest taking Full-Spectrum or Broad Spectrum CBD Oil, as there seems to be a benefit to getting multiple cannabinoids for the “Entourage Effect”. However, any of them may give you the benefits of CBD.
