Matt Hesse, CEO of Performix, launched FitOps with a purpose to end suicide by our US veterans. Insert FitOpps. FitOpps was is a non-profit organization founded by Matt Hesse to give our US veterans a sense of purpose through fitness.
In his quest to end suicide by our US veterans, Matt committed all profits from his sports nutrition brand Performix to FitOps, recruited WWE superstar and Hollywood actor John Cena and even launched a campaign via the Ellen DeGeneres Show to raise money in 2019.
Everything FitOpps is about led to the announcement that a top enlisted advisor to Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman will join forces with FitOps to fight veteran suicide amid COVID-19. That top enlisted advisory? His name is John Wayne Troxell, who for the past four years served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (SEAC) and senior non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Armed Forces.
John will lead the FitOps strategic advisors board. John will help the foundation with its current efforts as veterans are acutely feeling the effects of the coronavirus. COVID19's impact on our US veterans is devastating. More than 1 million veterans filed for unemployment benefits in April, remote mental health appointments have skyrocketed, and reports warn that many industries that employ veterans could be more vulnerable to layoffs. The most recent stats suggest that, on average, 20 US veterans take their own life every day. This number is 1.5x higher than the national average.
John will also be part of the FitOps outreach program. He will work with FitOps to reach service members who plan to separate from the military and equip them with training prior, so that when they hit the ground as a civilian, they are equipped to immediately serve their communities again, this time as personal trainers and coaches.

Before his retirement in December 2019, Troxell advised the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of Defense for four years on all matters involving joint and combined total force integration, utilization, health of the force and joint development for enlisted personnel. Troxell enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1982.

We made a big donation to FitOps in 2019 after learning about the organization. We know this is a fantastic foundation that is helping many of our veterans find their purpose and reason for being. Involving more people with experience will only aid in funding of the program and credibility. Nice work to Matt and his team at FitOps. This is really cool to see.
