Glucose Disposal Agents and the like are pretty beneficial when eating those higher calorie meals or cheat/untracked free meals etc. They are designed to help manage blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. Sounds simple, and here’e why:

Chromax – 400mcg

 Chromium picolinate has been studied for its potential to enhance insulin sensitivity, which means it may help cells respond more effectively to insulin, thereby improving blood sugar control. Some research suggests that the recommended dosage for supporting blood sugar control and improving insulin sensitivity is typically between 200 to 1000 mcg per day.

Glucovantage – 400mg

GlucoVantage from NNB is used at 400mg. This is almost like a super Berberine of sorts. Berberine has been shown to support healthy blood sugar levels already within a normal range, insulin sensitivity, and body composition. Per studies, when compared to berberine, Dihydroberberine has shown to be up to 5x more bioavailable and 2x longer-lasting (8 hours vs. 4 hours). NNB would like to see 100-200mg used per day.

Bitter Melon Extract has been studied and used worldwide for it’s blood sugar regulation and weight management properties by promoting fat metabolism and reducing fat accumulation in the body. It may also improve insulin sensitivity and promote glucose uptake by cells. Studies show that there is a range of dosages that vary from 100-200mg up to three times daily. 

Gymnema Leaf Extract – 300mg

Gymnema Sylvestre is an herb that has long been used in Ayurvedic medicine. It is commonly used in GDAs (Glucose Disposal Agents) as it has been shown to be potentially beneficial for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Gymnema Sylvestre has a study which show it to be an antioxidant, as well as being beneficial for lowering blood sugar levels. This study was done in vitro on diabetic rats, which of course isn’t optimal. Another study done in Brazil, was done on non-diabetic rats and showed no effects on blood sugar, body composition, etc. This perhaps means that GS may only be beneficial for diabetics. GS contains something called Gymnemic Acids. Gymnemic acids have been shown to block sugar receptors. This is why many studies regarding GS mention its “antisweet activity”.

Cinnulin PF – 250mg

Cinnamon Extract has been used for what seems like forever to help regulate blood sugar levels. There has also been some studies that show that between 250-500mg/day it may aid in weight management by once again improving metabolism and reducing appetite. Along with some anti-inflammatory properties, cinnamon extract has some cardiovascular benefits as well  by lowering blood pressure and reducing LDL levels.

• Decreases gluconeogenesis (production of glucose)
• Regulates lipid metabolism

A human clinical study conducted on 24 individuals with mild type 2 diabetes used a proprietary Banaba Leaf product called Banabamin. Vanadium – 1mg

Several animal studies and a few small human studies suggest that vanadium may lower blood sugar levels and improve sensitivity to insulin in people with type 2 diabetes. In one study of people with type 2 diabetes, vanadium also lowered total and LDL (“bad”) cholesterol. These studies show between 500mcg and 1mg are sufficient to see results.
