Overview of Giant Sports KETO
Giant Sports International is known to be evolutionary in the sports nutrition industry being the first to use many different ingredients in some of their products. To no one’s surprise, Giant Sports does it again with KETO, the first open label keto inducing supplement.
KETO promises to put your body into the state of ketosis in under 60-minutes. It does exactly that. The product is well dosed on BHB salts, which induces ketosis, and is available for a good cost. Overall this product does exactly what it says it does, allowing you to burn fat instead of carbs while maintaining high performance.
Testing Results and Ratings
We reviewed Giant Sports KETO on five categories. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in the pre-workout/fat burner, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.
We then look at effectiveness. An effective pre-workout/fat burner will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages. This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.
Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Raspberry Lemonade
Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.
Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of pre-workout/fat burner products on the market.
KETO from Giant Sports International is the first open label keto inducing supplement on the market. What does that mean? It means that the label is 100% transparent, and you know we’re a huge fan of that.
KETO is driven by 14.6g of BHB salts. BHB salts help your body make the metabolic shift from using carbohydrates (glucose) for an energy source to fat. This is the basis of the ketogenic diet. The ketogenic diet is so big because it is muscle sparing, but helps you reduce body fat by turning body fat into ketones which the body uses for energy versus the traditional method of using carbs per TigerFitness.com.
On-top-of the BHB salts, which is extremely important to ketosis, KETO also includes other fat loss ingredients like L-Carnitine L-Tartrate at 1g (there are a lot of supplements out there containing anywhere from 1-3g of L-Carnitine.) It also includes 4g of L-Asparic Acid, which has been shown to reduce fatigue and improve endurance. You also get 3.4g of Malic Acid which has been shown to improve energy. Another very important ingredient in KETO is Fibersol-2, which has been shown to help reduce the rise in blood sugar levels after the consumption of carbohydrates. Too many carbohydrates can throw you out of ketosis.
Overall, with the open label, you know exactly what you’re getting with each ingredient. We are a huge fan of this label.
I will be the first the admit that I do not follow the ketogenic diet. However, I wanted to see how effective this product actually was. I judged it on two things:
1.) Does it take me into ketosis in less than 60-minutes as promised?
2.) Does it provide sustainable energy where I can use this as a pre-workout?
The answer to both questions was a resounding yes. The question then is, how do I know? I was given urine analysis strips to pee on to determine if my body was in the state of ketosis. I would pee on a strip prior to taking KETO. Then I would pee on another strip about 10-minutes after taking KETO. Nothing. After about 45-50 minutes I would do it again. This time I would be peeing ketones. See our video for the actual photos of the ketone strips.
There’s the proof that my body went into a state of ketosis in under 60-minutes. But the next question is still here. How was my athletic performance? I used KETO prior to a lift session and even before a softball game and my performance was just as good, if not better than I perform on a pre-workout. There was no crash with KETO either.
Overall, KETO put me into ketosis as well as provided sufficient energy to power through a workout and softball game.
I was told prior to taking KETO that the Raspberry Lemonade might not be as good as their other flavors. I have not tried their other flavors but Raspberry Lemonade was good. It wasn’t as refreshing as your typical sugary lemonade, duh, but it was still very good. I have had BCAAs before that were better tasting but if you look at the profile you see there is no artificial ingredients and sweeteners in this to mask the taste. With all of that this product passes any taste test.
KETO mixed very similar to a typical pre-workout powder. It is a 28g scoop which is a lot of powder. It is recommended that it is mixed in 12-16 ounces of water. See video for a demonstration but overall it mixed well for me.
KETO inducing products are fairly new but they are gaining a lot of popularity today. KETO retails for less than $50 for 20-servings. This can seem high on the surface, but based on the effectiveness and what it does I think the pricing model is correct. This product takes you from a norma metabolic state to ketosis in 60-minutes. You also have a fully open label.
Oh and don’t forget that this works as a pre-workout to provide energy to improve athletic performance. With some PWOs on the market retailing for over $40 for 20-servings I would suggest that KETO from Giant Sports is a great value for those looking to start burning body fat.
