There seems to be a brand every year that goes all in, steps on the gas and breaks out from the crowd. There was a field of honorable nominees in 2019 for Breakout Brand of the Year which included RYSE Supplements, Outright, Raze Energy and Gaspari Nutrition, but it was Alpha Lion who took home the prize of the 2019 Fitness Informant Shield of Excellence Supplement Award for Breakout Brand of the Year.
The brand did a great job of informing the end consumer of their product selection through creative digital marketing. So much so that Alpha Lion not only gained online distribution in 2019, they also ended up on the shelves of retail stores across America. Consumer demand drove retailers to carry the line.
On top of increased brand visibility through distribution, Alpha Lion launched several key products. Alpha Lion did a limited edition launch around the 4th of July of Freedom Juice, which was a limited edition flavor of Superhuman Supreme. Since then, these two flavors have become a full-time product for the brand. Cyborg, the brand's anti-inflammatory was also launched in 2019 to join their more health-forward products such as their Greens formula. Alpha Lion launched their first protein powder in G.O.A.TEIN which featured digestive enzymes and Velositol. Gain-O-Rade was a reformulation which improved on their EAA product. On top of all the new product launches, Alpha Lion brought new flavors to their #1 selling pre-workout Superhuman.
Alpha Lion should be very proud of their year in 2019. If the brand can stay on their current trajectory and keep bringing to market products consumers love, they may be in the discussion for Brand of the Year in 2020.
