MuscleTech’s Shatter Ripped A Solid Value At Your Local GNC

MuscleTech Shatter Ripped Pre-Workout

MuscleTech is a brand that gets a mixed reaction from the dietary supplement fan club. There are some that will say they are a legacy brand who doesn't focus on efficacious dosing and innovation. Then there are those who understand the brand, their array of products and their customer base: us.

MuscleTech is a legacy brand. Yes, this is true, but that does not mean they don't focus on innovation or giving the customers what they want. The brand went through a complete turnover, essentially, and re-branded and re-focused. The results of that were great looking products, ingredients dosed correctly, and some unique use of key branded ingredients.

Their newest pre-workout, a GNC exclusive, Shatter Ripped, is one of those products that is perfectly positioned to target their key demographic and consumer, while not skimping on dosing.

MuscleTech Shatter Ripped Pre-Workout

The list of ingredients that companies can use in a pre-workout is limited due to DSHEA, which is a good thing. What can separate them is how they combine ingredients to create a synergistic pre-workout.

MuscleTech Shatter Ripped SFPMuscleTech’s new Shatter Ripped pre-workout features 11 active ingredients, some branded, at doses we like. MuscleTech breaks down the pre-workout into two areas, but still keeps it fully transparent.

The first “matrix” is the Performance Matrix. The formula starts with a 4g use of L-Citrulline. L-Citrulline is the precursor to Arginine. Arginine will improve nitric oxide levels in the body to improve blood flow and the pumps.

Beta-Alanine is used at the clinical dosage of 3.2g. This can aid in buffering lactic acid. This is a fancy way of saying it can help fight against muscle fatigue allowing you to workout for longer periods of time.

Taurine, an ingredient that aids in electrolyte regulation and hydration, also contributes to output, is dosed at the acceptable 1g dosage.

We now move into the “Energy, Focus and Thermogenisis Enhancer.” At two scoops you get 400mg of Green Coffee Extract. This is standardized to 45% cholorgenic acid. This can help with a plethora of things but has similar effects to caffeine. It is an antioxidant and can help with reducing blood sugar too. This has been used in a lot of weight loss supplements.

The next ingredient is Caffeine Anhydrous at 340mg. This is what the brand touts as their caffeine dosage. It is unclear if the Green Coffee Extract above contains caffeine. At 340mg of Caffeine Anhydrous you will feel this pre-workout (if you don’t consider a caffeine/stim break).

NooGanda, a branded version of Ashwagandha, is dosed at 225mg. Ashwagandha can also elevate mood, and when combined with caffeine that can lead to better workouts. It can also improve your focus. The other side of ashwagandha is it can help correct or improve out of balance cortisol levels. An increase in cortisol (the stress hormone) can lead to fat accumulation and gain. NooGanda recommends 225-400mg per serving.

CitraPeak can be found at 200mg. This is a highly bioavailable form of hesperidin. This can lead to increase blood flow and pumps, as well as provide a thermogenic effect. Per a study from Prinova, a 200mg dosage can lead to an 18% increase in blood flow.

Zynamite is a newer ingredient we are seeing more of in pre-workouts. MuscleTech uses it at 50mg. This is standardized to 60% mangiferin. Zynamite has been shown to improve reaction time. It also has been shown to improve VO2 Max, as well as power output. The creators of Zynamite do recommend 140-200mg once to twice a day which puts this one on the lighter side.

Grains of Paradise is dosed at 40mg. We can see this up to 50mg so this dosage is good. Grains of Paradise, also known as Paradoxine, can help increase body temperature for thermogenisis.

Yohimbe Extract, standardized to 6% Yohimbine, is dosed at 30mg. This means users are getting 1.8mg Yohimbine. This is perfectly fine. Some users don’t like the feeling Yohimbine can give you. It is an effective fat burner. In today’s world, it is considered one of the most impactful stims for fat loss.

The last ingredient for cognitive enhancement is Huperzine A at 20mcg. This is a light dosage of Huperzine. We would like to see it at 50mcg at a minimum, but we also realize this is not a nootropic pre-workout, more a fat burning pre-workout.

MuscleTech Shatter Ripped

Final Takeaway

This is a really good formula from MuscleTech, especially at the price point, This is a 40/20 serving pre-workout that retails fro $34.99 at GNC. If you take a double scoop, which we recommend, you are still getting it for less than $2 a scoop which is great. The vast majority of ingredients are used at efficacious doses. This is a pre-workout meant to help aid in fat loss through an increase in energy and body temperature.

From our experience using it, and we have a lot of experience, this pre-workout would be a great fit for anyone looking to improve their performance in the gym while increasing body temperature. We had great workouts with it.
