MuscleTech, a giant in the sports nutrition industry, has recently reevaluated their innovation strategy, and it is already paying dividends across the sports nutrition scene. Their newest pre-workout supplement Vapor One, is one of the best pre-workout supplements the brand has released in years with clinically back dosages on proven ingredients.
Vapor One from MuscleTech uses 13 ingredients to address the pillars of a pre-workout: energy, focus, pump, endurance and power/strength.
The ingredient deck starts with their Cell Volumization and Performance Complex containing the clinically backed dosage of 3.2g of Beta-Alanine, 3g Creatine Monohydrate, 2.5g Betaine Anhydrous and 1g Taurine. Collectively these ingredients will impact strength, power and endurance in a positive way. Betaine and Taurine are dosed very nicely, and Creatine Monohydrate is right there.
The VasoPrime Pump Matrix is similar to their Shatter8 Pump product. It contains 4g Citrulline, 1.5g Nitrosigine, 200mg Hawthorn Extract and 150mg of VasoDrive-AP. VasoDrive-AP is a casein hydrolysate is one of those key ingredients that induces really nice pumps.
The NeuroAmp Sensory and Focus Blend nails on energy and focus. We get 350mg Caffeine for energy. They toss in 200mg of Alpha-GPC, and we’d like to see this at 300mg, but at 200mg it is more that we’ve come to expect from some of these big brands. L-Theanine, which is used to alleviate stress and anxiety, is used at 125mg. Japanese Raisin Tree Extract, which is an odd ingredient, is used at 100mg. Finally we get 1.8mg of Yohimbine for energy and focus.
If we would have covered up the brand name, many of you wouldn’t have guessed this was the giant MuscleTech. Speaking with the MuscleTech officials, they have told us that they have a new found focus on product innovation and plan to release a multitude of new products featuring proven, clinically backed dosages.
Fitness Informant’s POV
Relieved is a word that comes to mind. Seeing one of the largest companies ever in this space put innovation at the forefront (yes they still have to turn a profit) is such a wonderful thing to see. Many of these upstart small companies are challenging these big brands with innovation. The one thing these big brands have is scale, so they can essentially do similar high-quality formulas for less and pass that savings onto the consumer. Don’t expect MT to make a $60 pre-workout, but expect them to continue down this path of releasing solid products with proven ingredients at nice dosages.
