A healthy liver is just as important as a healthy heart and so is a healthy liver. Being an athlete of ANY experience level will eventually call for some protection from the stress and punishment we put our bodies through. Lets hop into this ingredient profile and see whats shakin.

Astragalus Extract – 3g

Astragalus extract is known for its immune-boosting, anti-aging, and anti-inflammatory properties. It not only enhances immune cell function, but it also may help lower blood pressure and improve circulation. Studies show that standard doses can range from 250-500mg 2-3 times per day so the 3g dose here is plenty.

NAC – 500mg

N-Acetyl Cysteine is a precursor to Glutathione. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant in the body, and is very important for overall health. According to researchers, Glutathione may contribute to longevity. It has also been shown to help with metal detoxification in the body.

As for liver health, NAC is commonly used for as a counterpoison to acetaminophen in the cases of overdoses. Overall, it has a wealth of studies showing it to be beneficial for health purposes. There is a good reason as to why many lifters on oral steroids (the hepatotoxic ones) supplement with NAC. Typical doses can range from 500-1,200mg per day.

TUDCA – 500mg

TUDCA (Tauroursodeoxycholic Acid) is a water-soluble bile acid that has gained popularity as a liver support and cellular health supplement, especially among people with liver issues and active athletes. TUDCA protects liver cells from chemical and metabolic damage. It also may support liver function during steroid or medication use. Some evidence of improving gut barrier integrity and reducing inflammation. Some studies show that 250–1,000 mg/day is sufficient for liver support.

Curcumin C3 Complex – 500mg

Curcumin C3 Complex® is already a very popular ingredient, as is Turmeric (a source of curcuminoids in general). Milk Thistle contains Silymarin, which is what we want out of Milk Thistle. It has been shown to have hepatoprotective properties. It does this by helping in Glutathione production. Milk Thistle has also been shown to increase the lifespan of people suffering from Cirrhosis. Standardized doses can range from 150–300 mg, 2–3x/day.

Pine Bark Extract – 100mg

Pine Bark Extract, often referred to by the patented name Pycnogenol, is a powerful antioxidant supplement. Pine Bark supports not only healthy blood pressure and circulation, but also improves vascular elasticity and may help with chronic venous insufficiency (leg swelling, varicose veins). It also reduces symptoms of osteoarthritis and general inflammation. Supports joint flexibility and reduces stiffness. Doses can range from between 50 and 200mg per day.
