Obvi Super Collagen Protein Cereal Flavors Are Here (with Flavor Review)

By September 24, 2019No Comments

Collagen protein is gaining a lot of popularity in the sports nutrition and functional foods category. Why? Research supports that Type I, II and III collage proteins can promote healthy hair, skin, nails, bone and joints. We are seeing many new brands start-up featuring collagen protein, and even large, established brands introducing it into their portfolio.

Obvi is a new brand in the space, but their leadership team is not new to the sports nutrition industry. The team behind Obvi saw an opportunity in collage protein to bring a flavorful alternative to what was already on the market.

Obvi Collagen LabelObvi recently reformulated their collagen to bring to market Super Collagen. Super Collagen contains 10g of Hydrolyzed Grass-fed Bovine Collagen Peptides. Although the units don’t disclaim the types of collagen, the website confirms that you are getting Type I and Type III collagen.

Type I collagen is the most abundant in the human body. Type I makes up about 90% of our human hair, skin, nails, organs, bones and ligaments.

Type III collagen is commonly found alongside Type I collagen. Type III supports skin and bone health.

Obvi brought to market cereal inspired flavors in their collagen. They introduced Fruity Cereal, Cinna Cereal and Cocoa Cereal. We had a chance to try all three. See video above for flavor reaction

Although collagen is great for skin, hair, nails, bones and ligaments, it is not a complete source of protein. You should not replace your daily protein intake with strictly collagen.

If you’re looking for a tasty collagen protein, Obvi makes three of them.

Fitness Informant's POV

Personally I am not a regular user of collagen protein. However, I keep my finger on the pulse of the industry, and more and more companies are including collagen or bone broth in their product portfolio. The research behind collagen, and the reviews, have been mostly positive. There are several pundits of collagen saying it never actually makes its way to the bones, ligaments, joints, skin, hair, nails, etc, but for every pundits there seems to be many supporters. I thought these three flavors were enjoyable and something to use if you're looking for a tasty collagen.
