Brand Spotlight: BEAM

BEAM

One issue that our industry has is a lack of creativity. Some brands simply take a name that describes something that is part of lifting or science, and then add “Labs” to the end of it. It’s refreshing to see a brand that has a story to tell and depth behind the name. Well today, we are going to take a deep look into a new brand that has an amazing story to tell, and it starts with the name.

BEAM, when you first hear it, you may think of a certain Star Trek word. The word BEAM has a much different meaning to it when it comes to this supplement company. BEAM stands for Be Amazing, and the best version of yourself.

BEAM is an all-new brand that comes from a guy named Mike Yewdell. While you may not have heard of him, he has a great story to tell. Once you know more about him, you will understand where the word BEAM comes from.

With such an interesting name, there had to be a backstory behind it. What is the meaning of BEAM? Why is it important? Mike told us, “BEAM saved my life. It’s the acronym of the chemotherapy that finally worked and put me in remission. I failed three chemotherapies over two years before BEAM. For us, BEAM stands for Be Amazing and being the best version of yourself.” This hits hard, and it shows that the owners have gone through some serious life-changing events.

For those of you asking who is behind the brand, this is not some fly-by-the-night kind of company. The BEAM founders have 30 years of combined experience in the sports nutrition space. They have a passion for creating, innovating, and, of course, they love health and fitness. We will go over their products in a bit, but when you see them, you will be able to tell that they put some effort into their formulas.

BEAM

With so many brands out there, why should you try BEAM? Seriously, there are more than enough products on the market that another supplement company seems like a drop in the bucket. Well, BEAM is a true direct-to-consumer brand. They import the raw materials, they do their own flavoring, and it gets shipped directly to your door.

RYSE

BEAM is a brand that puts a lot of effort into their formulas. They look to maximize the experience of their products. BEAM isn’t the kind of brand to get into an ingredient measuring contest with the competition, and they certainly aren’t on the race to the bottom. The aim with their products is to provide a great experience, while also living up to the process and not the hype.

Many companies simply start up without a goal or vision in mind. With the barrier of entry so low in this industry, you have an influx of brands with no personality, who tend to fail quite quickly. With BEAM their goal is different than most. They are not looking to be the largest supplement brand on the planet.  “The goal for BEAM is to deliver top of line premium products while protecting the consumer. BEAM is all about pro-change so our goal is to constantly evolve as a company and push forward on all aspects just like our consumer throughout their fitness journey,” Mike told us.

For BEAM, it’s bigger than just a few products or supplements. It is about a positive mentality and a desire to be better. BEAM: Be Amazing was created to help people find a mantra they can live by, and hopefully, they can get you to live by that too.

BEAM Pre-Workout

What new brand doesn’t start out with a pre-workout these days? Well BEAM has started with one, and really it’s quite impressive. The pre-workout starts us off with 5g of Citrulline, followed by the standard Beta-Alanine at 3.2g. Two well known proven ingredients at solid doses. While it has your standard ingredients such as Betaine Anhydrous and Taurine at great doses, it also has some not so common ingredients for pre-workouts such as Grape Seed Extract and Resveratrol.

Two more ingredients in here that really make this pre-workout good are the KSM-66 and the Tyrosine. KSM-66 is Ashwagandha, and it aids in reducing cortisol. The Tyrosine is a great ingredient for increasing focus, especially in stressful situations, so there is very little to complain about with this pre-workout and it hits all facets when it comes to making a good pre-workout.

BEAM Whey Protein

BEAM has also started out with a whey protein. BEAM has opted for a Whey Protein Isolate, which means it is very fast digesting and easy on the stomach. The macros on this whey (per scoop) are:

1g Fat

4g Carbohydrate

25g Protein

Some extras that they have in there are Aquamin™, which provides electrolytes and aids in hydration. Actually it’s a pretty interesting addition, and we welcome it.

BEAM Vegan Protein

beam vegan proteinThe Vegan Protein is another product coming out from BEAM, and it certainly looks good. To start this off, we have to mention that the amount of carbs per serving is lower than many vegan protein powders out there. You typically see them around 7g or sometimes more for 20g of protein, well not in here. The macros are as follows:

0.5g Fat

3g Carbohydrate

20g Protein

The protein comes from multiple sources, which is common for vegan protein. You get Pea Protein, Mung Bean Protein, and Pumpkin Seed Protein in this one. Pea protein is standard in vegan proteins, and Pumpkin Seed Protein is certainly on the rise. Just like the Whey Protein, this one also includes Aquamin™.

Final Takeaway

As you can see, the word BEAM refers to something quite emotional for Mike. Mike is a cancer survivor. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, whether that’s a relative or friend, so one thing you can take away from this, is that BEAM actually stands for something deep, and the owner is certainly behind it.

The products overall looks solid, and should deliver. With a great message behind the brand, and a great flavoring system, there is no way you won’t enjoy using BEAM products.
