Nutrabolics Blackout

The highly anticipated new “sleep hacking” supplement from Nutrabolics, Blackout, is set to launch next week (week of February 18th). We have your first look at the ingredient facts panel!

If you’ve followed Nutrabolics over the past several weeks on social media, you’ve seen the brand tease this new revolutionary sleep hacking supplement. They have even gone as far as a brand to issue blue light blocking glasses to their staff members. These glasses are meant to block out the harmful blue light and UV rays from screens we constantly look at, most notably our cellphones. The new sleep hacking supplement also indicates capabilities of blue light blocking.

Blackout LabelBlackout features ZMA (zinc and magnesium) at a combined 480mg. ZMA is used in many sleep aids, and as a way to boost natural testosterone levels. GABA is used at 2g. GABA used at 3-5g promotes HGH secretion by the body while we sleep, but below 3g it aids in sleep. GABA has been used to treat insomnia and anxiety. Valerian is used at 600mg. Valerian is an all-natural herb that can reduce the time it takes us to fall asleep by reducing anxiety. California Poppy is used at 400mg, and has been also shown to reduce anxiety levels. L-Tryptophan is dosed at 250mg. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid found in foods like chicken and turkey that makes us sleepy after that big Thanksgiving meal. Tryptophan is converted to Niacin in the body, which promotes serotonin, a neurotransmitter that’s associated with sleep. L-Theanine is used at 100mg. This is a stress reducer and mood enhancing ingredient. Lutein is used at 20mg. Lutein has been shown to combat the blue light impact that effects sleep. Lastly, we get 5mg of Zeaxathin. This acts similar to Lutein as it combats the blue light impact.

Fitness Informant’s POV

This is one of the more unique formulas I have seen with the addition of Lutein and Zeaxanthin. I know how much time I spend staring at my phone, especially before bed. I have heard all the stories about how we are supposed to unplug an hour before bed to get the best quality of sleep. The reality of the situation is, I cannot do that. With FI, I need to stay connected. I can vouch that this does impact my sleep, so I do love a good sleep aid. I like the ingredients used in this and the dosing. This could impact the way brands start creating their sleep aids. The combination of screen time and anxiety impacts many people’s ability for quality sleep.

We are going to be getting our hands on a bottle of this for review. We are excited to bring this to you!
