Essence Active Greens is a greens supplement formulated to aid with natural energy, vitality, immunity, digestion, and recovery. It is a fully transparent product, meaning unlike many other greens products out there, you will NOT find any proprietary blend. 

So let’s take a look at Essence Active Greens and see if it can back up those claims.

Dark Greens Blend

The Dark Green Blend starts off with 1.2g of Spirulina, which is actually an algae. It is very common in greens products, and contains a wealth of antioxidants. This is followed by 1.1g of Chlorella. This is also an algae that provides chlorophyll. This has several health benefits, and is typically thought of as a detoxifier. Following this you get a gram of Wheat Grass leaf powder. 

Brassica oleracea (also known as Wild Cabbage) is the next ingredient in here, and it provides a wealth of antioxidants, and has some potential anti-cancer benefits as well. You get 800mg of it in Essence. You also get 800mg of Spinach Powder, and 100mg of Broccoli Sprout extract. 

You certainly get a nice variety of greens in here, and knowing how much of each ingredient is great and is actually uncommon. 

Antioxidant Berry Blend

So now we come to a very impressive part of this profile. The berry blend starts off with a banger. VitaCherry® Sport is a great addition, and we simply have to highlight it. VitaCherry is a patented ingredient from FutureCeuticals, and it is Tart Cherry. It is a source of phytonutrients that has been studied to be beneficial for performance and recovery. You get 500mg in here, which is a solid dose.

After the Tart Cherry, you get Blueberry powder at 500mg, Pomegranate fruit extract at 250mg, and Cabbage Palm fruit extract at 200mg. These are all sources of antioxidants, and have health benefits. In fact, some brands use Pomegranate in their pump products, as it provides antioxidants that can help prevent nitric oxide from being broken down.  

Adaptive Mushroom Blend

Mushrooms are gaining in popularity, and we love seeing them added to products. You get a full gram of 5 different forms of mushrooms in Essence, and we are fans of all of them. Chaga is the first mushroom you get in here, and it helps with inflammation, and may help with blood sugar levels. Following this you get Cordyceps, which has been studied to help with increasing your VO2 max. While you’re getting a lower dose than what was used in the study, Cordyceps does have other benefits, and using this overtime should yield some results. 

Following this you get Hericium erinaceus mushroom fruit extract, which is also known as Lion’s Mane. Lion’s mane is typically used in nootropics for it’s brain health benefits. It can help with long-term brain health, and is certainly something that you should supplement with every day. Following this you get Reishi Mushroom, which has a wealth of benefits. Some include raising HDL cholesterol levels (the good cholesterol), helping with overall mood, and it may support a healthy immune system. Finally you get Turkey Tail, which is a source of antioxidants, and may support a healthy immune system as well. 

Phytonutrient Blend

Now we come to the Phytonutrient Blend, which starts off with KSM-66® at 300mg. KSM-66 is a patented form of Ashwagandha, which is one of the most popular ingredients these days. Ashwagandha has a lot of benefits, however it is mostly used for its anti-stress benefits. With anti-stress products becoming more and more popular these days, this product makes perfect sense to see in here. You see KSM-66 in everything these days, from pre-workouts, to testosterone boosters, to sleep aids, and even fat burners! It is an ingredient you want to be taking everyday, and since Essence is an everyday ingredient, it’s awesome to see.

Following KSM-66, you get Green Tea and Chocolate seed extract. Green Tea is a source of antioxidants, and it is usually used for ECGC and Epitcathechin. As for the Chocolate, it is a source of Theobromine, which is a xanthine, just like caffeine. It can help with energy without increasing blood pressure. 

Finally you get Spectra™, which is a trademarked blend of various different fruits and vegetables that provide antioxidants. You get the clinical dose of Spectra at 100mg.

Digestion And Absorption Blend

Finally we have the Digestion and Absorption Blend, which starts off with Carrot Root powder. While we suggest eating real carrots as well, Carrots have actually been linked to reduced risk of gastric cancers, so having this in here is nice. Following this you get Apple Pectin, which is a known prebiotic. Prebiotics help create a good environment for your gut flora, and there has been a trend these days of focusing more on prebiotics than just supplementing with probiotics. 

Next up we have Ginger Root extract. Ginger has several benefits, and we see it in fat burners, joint health supplements, and digestive products. It has anti-inflammatory benefits, and is nice to see in Essence.

Now we come to AstraGin®, which is an ingredient from NuLiv Science. This is a patented blend of Panax Ginseng and Astragalus. It has two main benefits, those being that it can help with absorption, as well as reduce inflammation in the gut. At 50mg, you are getting a solid dose. 

Finally, you get Capsicum Fruit powder, which is a source of capsaicin. This is used for many reasons, digestion being one of them.
