Alpha Lion is making noise again this month with the announcement that they are going to release their first protein powder called G.O.A.TEIN. G.O.A.TEIN will feature whey protein isolate and three patent ingredients to help with protein digestion and amino acid uptake.
G.O.A.TEIN will use PROVEN290 SFL (cross-flow microfiltration) Whey Protein Isolate at 28g delivering 25g of complete protein. This is fully disclosed on the label, something more companies are now doing. The additional ingredients added to G.O.A.TEIN is what separates it from the competitive set.
Velositol is used at the clinical dosage of 2g. Velositol is a patent ingredient that when used with protein is designed to accelerate and boost muscle protein synthesis (MPS), a key to enhanced muscle growth, lean body mass, and quicker muscle recovery. Velositol is an ingredient by Nutrition 21 that has been shown to double muscle protein synthesis when combined with whey protein versus whey protein alone. It also has been shown to increase insulin levels without any change in blood glucose levels to help amino acid uptake.
AminoGen is used at 250mg, the clinical dosage. AminoGen is used to help with protein digestibility and increase amino acid levels. Clinical studies have shown that AminoGen can lead up to a 200% more increase in BCAAs. Researchers also found all amino acids, essential & conditionally essential, including branched chain amino acids, are released in greater amounts when protein is digested with AminoGen.
Astragin, by NuLiv Sciences is used at 50mg, the clinical dosage. AstraGin is used to aid ingredient absorption into the bloodstream. It is used in many nutritional supplements and is now being sold as an everyday item like your multivitamin.
The inclusion of Velositol, AminoGen and Astragin makes G.O.A.TEIN, on paper, one of the most effective protein powders on the market today. Combined with the fast digesting WPI protein, G.O.A.TEIN could change the way consumers look at their protein powders.
The other macros are:
Calories: 120
Fats: <1g
Carbs:1g
Protein:25g
G.O.A.TEIN will launch in three flavors: Vein Poppin Vanilla, Bulging Banana and Chiseled Chocolate.
Fitness Informant’s POV
We will be getting an advanced release of the three proteins. We will take them for a test drive. On paper these things look awesome. One thing you may not notice as a consumer is the quality, because you don’t necessarily feel these ingredients working like you would with their Freedom Juice (a pre-workout). What you should expect is little to zero bloating since the protein is being broken down quickly by AminoGen and processes by Velositol and Astragin. You will get more utilization out of your protein powder versus some of the competitive set on the market.
As is the case with many protein powders, this may come down to taste. They have to nail taste, if they did that, then they have something special in terms of a whey protein isolate product.
