That is not to say these are “hardcore” products, but they use larger dosages of key ingredients designed to pull the best out of the user. A.B.E. Pre-Workout is the pre-workout in the AN Supps line-up that was formulated for optimal performance for those who like to get after it and do it on a repetitive basis. A.B.E. Pre-Workout includes ingredients that aid in pump, performance, energy, cognition and recovery.

L-Citrulline Malate 2:1 – 6,000mg

Citrulline is one of the most common ingredients used by supplement formulators to help improve blood flow and pumps. Increasing blood flow is much deeper than just improving the look in the mirror. By improving blood flow you bring nutrient rich blood into the muscles to help with the repair and recovery process. This is turn aids in performance output.

Citrulline malate is a combination of citrulline and malic acid. In the A.B.E. Pre-Workout formula users are getting a 2:1 ratio. This means you are getting essentially 4,000mg of citrulline to 2,000mg of malic acid.

Citrulline works by converting to arginine in the body. This then will increase nitric oxide production and improve blood flow. It not only aids in pushing more blood into the muscles, it makes the path to the muscle easier by widening of the vessels.

Malic acid can aid in energy production and performance.

At the 6,000mg dosage and the ratio used here, users are getting nearly 4,000mg of citrulline per serving which is a good amount for users looking to improve blood flow and pumps.

Beta-Alanine – 3,200mg

Beta-Alanine is another one of those ingredients that should be taken daily to get the best results. Beta-alanine aids in muscle endurance and output. It does so by buffering lactic acid and aids in preventing muscle breakdown. This allows users of beta-alanine to workout for longer or more intense period of times. We typically see this at 3.2g per dosage and that’s exactly what is dosed in A.B.E. Pre-Workout.

Sodium Bicarbonate – 400mg

Brand’s will use sodium bicarbonate in small amounts to create a “carbonation” like effect (hence why you shouldn’t shake a pre-workout that has this as it can pop when you open the lid). Although this is true, there is an exercise benefit to sodium bicarbonate.

Sodium bicarbonate can actually increase the blood’s extracellular buffering capacity, helping move hydrogen ions out of muscle and potentially allowing you to sustain high-intensity work a little longer. This works well with beta-alanine to aid in sustaining a higher intensity workout for a longer period of time.  

Caffeine Anhydrous – 350mg

It doesn’t necessarily give you energy, but it makes you feel less tired. The 350mg dosage of caffeine anhydrous is a larger amount for those who really want to take their performance up a notch. VitaCholine – 250mg

VitaCholine® is a branded form of choline L-bitartrate. VitaCholine is a precursor to acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter involved in memory, learning, muscle contraction, and nervous system function. VitaCholine has been shown to improve focus, memory and improve muscle contractions at dosages around 250-500mg. 

L-Tyrosine – 200mg

Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid that is used in pre-workout formulations for its impact on cognition and focus. Tyrosine aids in the production of dopamine. Not only can this improve mood, but it can aid in keeping cognitive levels elevated during your exercise. Tyrosine helps maintain or elevate cognitive performance, improving the mind-muscle connection. We see tyrosine dosed at 1,000-2,000mg per serving in most pre-workouts so the 200mg is relatively small but may still aid slightly in elevating mood.

L-Theanine – 200mg

Theanine is used at 200mg. Most brands use theanine to help taper off the side effects of higher dosages of stimulants, like caffeine. Senactiv – 50mg

Senactiv is a branded ingredient by Nuliv Science. It can help the body remove “dead” cells and regenerate new ones. This is turn will help improve performance and improve recovery time. The 50mg dosage is the expected dosage of Senactiv.

AstraGin – 50mg

AstraGin, also a branded ingredient from Nuliv Science, helps the body absorb and utilize the active ingredients in this formula.

Huperzine-A – 90mcg

Huperzine-A is added to many pre-workouts that also use a dosage of choline. In this case, A.B.E. Pre-Workout utilizes VitaCholine in the formula. Huperzine-A essentially aids in preventing the breakdown of acetylcholine allowing an ingredient like VitaCholine to work harder for longer, and sometimes at lower dosages (compared to using a choline ingredient alone). The longer you can extend choline the better as your body depletes it during training. Keeping levels regulated allows you to stay focused throughout a workout.
