Juice Labz

The sports nutrition industry welcomes so many new entrants into the space each year. Every year someone gets a hope and a dream to create the next MusclePharm or the next Cellucor. However, this isn't the case nine times out of ten. Sure, every so often you get a RedCon1 who comes by and takes the industry by storm, but if you don't have a value proposition or stand for something, you will fall to the wayside with the rest of the companies who have tried before you.

Juice Labz stands for something. Juice Labz is owned and operated by one US veteran and a passionate weight lifter, Dylan Sheehan and Cody Kuykendall, respectably. Dylan served in Helmand Province, Afghanistan as part of the US Marine Corp. He served our country for four years. Cody went to a four-year college and graduated with a degree in software engineering and loved fitness.

Due to Dylan's service, a portion of Juice Labz proceeds will be donated to support military-based charities. In the business world this is called "Cause Marketing." Typically it doesn't matter how good the product is, people will buy it because they support the cause. Juice Labz is in the beginning phases of their journey, but they are already off to a good start by producing a nice pre-workout supplement designed for beginning gym goers called Juice.

Juice is a 30-serving pre-workout designed for those who are just getting into sports nutrition supplements. That doesn't mean it is under-dosed, not is not the case. It just means you won't find any hardcore, exotic stims, or crazy dosages of ingredients. That's not a bad thing. They want to attract a large crowd of people so they can grow their brand and the amount of charitable donations to the charities they work with.

Juice starts with 6g of L-Cirulline Malate (2:1). This is the minimal dosage you want for the combo of 2:1 Citrulline Malate. This gives you 4 parts Citrulline to 2 parts Malic Acid. This helps improve blood flow to induce the pump,

Beta-Alanine, the ingredient responsible for the "itch" feeling is used at the clinical dosage of 3.2g. This also helps improve endurance and improves overall athletic performance.

Creatine Monohydrate, one of the most well-studied ingredients on planet Earth, is used at 2g. The clinically accepted dosage of Creatine Monohydrate is 5g. However, you have to remember this is a pre-workout supplement. This isn't a stand-alone Creatine supplement. The purpose of Creatine in most pre-workouts isn't to provide a clinical dosage, but to help improve strength output. At 2g, it does that. You should be supplementing with a stand-alone Creatine supplement anyway.

Betaine Anhydrous is used at 1.5g. This helps improve power and strength. The accepted dosage of Betaine is 1.5g-2.5g. We are within the acceptable range.

Taurine is another strength ingredient used at 1g. This is another acceptable dosage. Taurine also helps regulate your electrolytes to improve overall athletic performance.

Lastly, we get 150mg of Caffeine, This isn't a blow-your-socks off amount of caffeine, but we have become too dependent on caffeine in this world. This is a good amount actually that would work for an evening workout that wouldn't keep you wide-awake.

We then get into our Juice "Limitless" Blend. No, this isn't a proprietary blend, but it is a blend that works together for focus. We start with Alpha-GPC, a solid nootropic at 150mg. Now, this should be higher, a minimum of 300mg. I actually spoke with the company and they are open to improving this dosage. Kudos to them for listening. Another focus ingredient is N-Acetly L-Tyrosine at 350mg. This also is on the low side, this should be upwards of 750mg-1,000mg. Again, same as Alpha-GPC, the company is willing to look at it. L-Theanine is used at 200mg, a solid dosage of a relaxation ingredient. We typically see this at 100mg. Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract at 150mg is for an anti-fatigue effect, but has also shown to reduce anxiety levels and stress. Finally, Huperzine-A is used at 50mcg. I would like to see this increased to 100mcg.

Overall, the profile is a safe, effective profile for those who are beginners in the world of sports nutrition supplements. You get optimal dosages of Citrulline Malate, Beta-Alanine, Betaine, Taurine, L-Theanine and Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract. Caffeine is lower, but you don't always need 300mg+ of caffeine. The biggest feedback for this new company and this supplement would be to re-look at the "Limitless" blend and improve Alpha-GPC, Tyrosine and Huperzine-A dosages.

I applaud this company for what they are trying to do in terms of giving back to military charities. That's a noble cause and one that people will get behind. We thank Dylan for his service and their continued plan to help improve the lives of military personal throughout the world.
