LionEdge Nutrition

Trust. This is a word that many sports nutrition companies today tout, but how do you know if you can actually trust the brand? Do you know the people behind it? Are the formulators scientists, physicians or doctors? Do they even lift? These are all questions that we tend to ask ourselves when we look at a brand. The truth is some of the “formulators” in the industry today follow “bro science” and Google their favorite products and formulate based on what they liked. We call these people “Google Formulators.”

What if we told you there was a brand who has physicians as their formulators? What if we told you there was a brand who was overseen by 10 practicing, board certified physicians? What if we told you that there was a brand who’s products were manufactured in a facility owned by a doctor? Could these statements help you put your trust in the brand? We’d hope so.

Adam RajoulhLionEdge Nutrition Dr. Adam Rajoulh, who believes the consumer’s health should be the brand’s #1 priority. Not only is Adam a doctor, he also practices the art of fitness religiously. Dr. Rajoulh discovered fitness at an early age as he was entering high school.

It was the summer of 1999 and I was starting high school in Saginaw, MI at a measly 100 lbs. I grew up in a tough neighborhood and was an easy target. My dad bought me some weights and I worked out in my basement all summer. I immediately felt in love with bodybuilding. Not just from the gains and the pump but the new sense of confidence. It also taught me discipline and commitment – two crucial qualities for a physician that I may have never acquired if it wasn’t for bodybuilding.

There are many times we come across brands who’s owners and CEOs don’t look like they’ve touched a weight in their life, and are only in it for the money. Not Dr. Rajoulh.

If I don’t workout for over 2-3 days, my wife will tell me to go to the gym. It’s not just something I want to do but something I NEED to do.

We understand that working out doesn’t equate to quality supplements. However, Adam is not only a fitness junkie, but a doctor. His passions are medicine and fitness, two things that go hand-in-hand when creating a supplement brand and quality supplements.

My mother is a physician and as I started to learn more about the human body, I also fell in love with medicine. I also used my knowledge I acquired from medicine and nutrition not only to help with my own fitness goals but others as well. I realized that both of my passions coincided together which made me love medicine and bodybuilding even more! This in itself I consider a huge blessing which is why our company is built on science, safety and transparency and helping others to be the best possible versions of themselves.

One may think, why and how does a full-time board certified practicing medical doctor working at an inpatient hospital have time to start a supplement company. Better yet, why would they want to start a supplement company. For Adam it was all about using his real life experiences to help the consumer.

FIt Butters
I’ve been supplementing for over 20 years. I really had no intention on starting my own supplement company until a few years ago during my medical residency training. I got to see the other end of the supplement industry with patients getting admitted to hospitals as a direct cause from supplementation! We are talking about cardiac arrhythmias from stimulants, hepatitis from SARMs, and other supplements, and I even had to put a young athlete on hemodialysis as a result of a creatine complex. I started seeing more and more cases like this and mainly from “big name” supplement brands. I found myself spending a substantial amount of time educating my patients about proper supplementation and what’s safe. After speaking and educating more and more patients, I felt like this was a sign. I felt like this was not only my calling but my obligation as someone who’s a medical doctor who’s also obsessed with fitness and supplementation. That was the birth of LionEdge Nutrition.
Not only are the products formulated based on science, they are also manufactured in a facility operated by a fellow doctor, Dr. Jeff Golini. LionEdge Nutrition products are manufactured at All American Pharmaceuticals.
I decided to visit Jeff and tour his facility and I was blown away. I can assure you nobody tests like this guy, period. And the fact that he’s the biggest Boy Scout with testing and following proper FDA and GMP protocol made me want to work with him even more. Having an MD, I have a lot more to lose if someone suffers an adverse effect with one of my supplements vs a business guy who owns multiple companies who’s just doing this for some extra change. I knew I couldn’t mess around taking ANY risks with how LionEdge products are manufactured so working with Jeff and All American Pharmaceuticals has been a huge blessing and I’ve never looked back. Not too many people share the obsession of always doing the right thing but I like to look at myself in the mirror and sleep well at night.
Currently LionEdge Nutrition has four products. They have a post-workout protein product, a casein powder, a BCAA and a joint supplement. Unlike many supplement companies, LionEdge Nutrition decided to forgo the typical pre-workout supplement as their first product to market. This is an unusual tactic as many brands make their name on a pre-workout.

To be completely transparent with you, I didn’t think the market really needed another pre-workout. Sure we can make money but our goal as a company is to produce supplements that consumers NEED, not supplements that may make us some money.
The brand does plan on releasing a pre-workout in the future due to consumer demand. Other products coming from the brand include flavor extensions and a sleep aid.

LionEdge Nutrition has big goals for itself. Dr. Rajoulh wants to become the most trusted and respected global leaders in nutritional science. This may take time and knowledge, but once consumers experience the quality, it may come sooner than you think.

Now that you had a chance to learn a bit about the brand, let’s learn a bit about their products.

Post Edge

LionEdge Post EdgePost Edge is the post workout powerhouse from LionEdge. Post Edge is not just a protein powder, but it also contains many other ingredients for proper recovery. It is available in Blueberry Muffin and S’Mores Ice Cream flavors.

It start with a Muscle Growth, Strength & Recovery Matrix. ProtaLyn® Whey Protein Isolate is used at 27.4g yielding 25g complete protein per serving. In addition to the fast digesting protein, LionEdge adds 7.5g of extra BCAAs (5g Leucine for mTOR Activation, 1.25g Isoleucine and 1.25g Valine). Fermented Glutamine is added at 3g for increased recovery and gut health. Kre-Alkalyn® is used at 1.5g, which is a buffered Creatine Monohydrate. Lastly, we get 2g of Fermented Betaine.

Next, we get to the Insulin Activation Anabolic Matrix. This includes key ingredients like 1g L-Carnitine-L-Tartrate to aid with energy production and fatty acid metabolism and Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) at 200mg.

The LionEdge Absorption Matrix (LAM) includes 5mg of BioPerine and 2g Velositol for protein digestibility and amino acid uptake.

Post Edge includes an Anti-Inflammatory Matrix. Key ingredients in this are Kre-Celazine® at 1.5g, Ginger Root at 50mg and Bromelain at 25mg.

Lastly, it includes an Electrolyte Support Matrix which includes Coconut Water Powder, Potassium and more.

Overall, this is a solid product on paper that is much more than just a protein powder, but an all-in-one recovery product.

Casein Edge

Casein EdgeCasein is different from whey in that it has a slower digestibility rate. LionEdge Nutrition’s Casein Edge is available in Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream flavor. Casein Edge contains 30g of casein protein yielding 24g of protein. In addition to casein, LionEdge also incorporates Velositol to aid in protein breakdown, digestion and amino acid uptake. The majority of casein products on the market today do not include this key ingredient.

Casein Edge appears to have the “edge” over other proteins with its fully disclosed label and the addition of 2g Velositol to increase MPS. This is key while using a casein, especially if you’re using it before bed like most do.

BCAA Edge

BCAA EdgeBCAA Edge is not just another branched-chain amino acid product. BCAA Edge comes in two flavors, Sour Mango Peach Rings and Wild Cherry Cola. That is not the only unique thing about this product.

BCAA Edge contains 5g of 2:1:1 fermented AminoZorb® BCAAs. AminoZorb® is an enzymatic buffered Leucine, Isoleucine, Valine 2:1:1 meaning it is more soluble in water. Being that they are fermented, they are sourced from vegetables and not animal sources. Although at a molecular level, BCAAs are all the same, but where they are sourced from is drastically different. Many of your traditional BCAAs come from pig carcasses, hair and beaks of birds.

On top of the 5g 2:1:1 BCAA, we get an Electrolyte Matrix which includes potassium, sodium and magnesium. These three ingredients are your popular electrolytes.

Lastly, to help with amino acid uptake, LionEdge adds 1.5g Velositol. This ingredient has been scientifically proven to increase amino acid uptake and MPS.

Final Takeaway

LionEdge Nutrition is onto something with quality formulas, unique flavors, manufacturing process and their physician backing as a brand. We have their products to try and are excited for it. It appears the brand is doing all the right things, putting the consumer first. This is something we love here at Fitness Informant.
