From his days in the squared circle, to his current days in Hollywood, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has accomplished a lot. He has been a World Champion wrestler. He has been the highest paid actor in Hollywood. He’s starred in films that have broken box office records. However, there is one thing that “the people’s champion” has not achieved: leader of the free world.

The Rock joked on a Saturday Night Live skit about running for president in 2020. He then later confirmed to Jimmy Fallon that he was intrigued by the idea, and that he might be the leader that can relate to the United States of America. The jokes and the intrigue took one step closer to reality on July 9, 2017 when someone filed the “Run the Rock 2020” campaign with the Federal Election Committee.

According to The Hill, that someone was named Kenton Tilford. There seems to be no connection between The Rock and Kenton; however, The Rock now has a campaign – “More Poise and Less Noise” – and a committee for the 2020 election.

It's just that when it comes to politics, we need more poise and less noise. Americans deserve strong, capable leaders. Leaders who care about this country and care about its people.

Whether or not we see The Rock run for President in 2020 is left to be seen; however, the public already perceives him as a better leader than President Trump. According to a recent article from The Public Policy Polling, “Johnson would lead Trump 42/37 in a prospective contest, and wins over 15% of people who supported Trump last fall.”
