The team over at Inspired Nutraceuticals are making an impactful announcement just 6-weeks before the 2019 Arnold Classic. Inspired Nutraceuticals CEO Chris Waldrum has announced that the company is going to be launching the industry's first Type 1, 2 and 3 Collagen Peptide Infused Whey Protein with Probiotics.
Not much is known at this time but we do know comes from the image seen above. It appears one of the flavors will be Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie. It also appears that it will feature 20g of whey protein per serving and 5g of Collagen Peptides. Collagen Peptides come in three types: Type 1, 2 and 3. Per Chris Waldrum, this will contain all three.
Type 1 Collagen is used for healthy skin, nails, hair and bones. Type 2 is used for joint and cartilage support. Collagen was identified as one of the biggest food trends in 2019. Chris Waldrum and team are incorporating CPG into the sports nutrition industry.
We also know that this is going to contain probiotics, another 2019 food trend. Per Inspired Nutraceuticals, it will contain 500 million CFU of probiotics. Gut health and digestion is gaining plenty of steam in CPG as well as the sports nutrition space. Speaking of digestion, we are told this will also feature ProHydrolase.
ProHydrolase is an ingredient designed to help breakdown proteins into their simpler state of amino acids for quicker absorption into the bloodstream. The addition of ProHydrolase should also cut down on the feeling of discomfort some may feel from protein powders.
Lastly, we know that this is going to be naturally sweetened.
We have been told that this product is set to launch in 6 weeks time...which would bring us to the Arnold Classic. More to come on this as we find out.
Fitness Informant POV:
Some of you know that I actually work within CPG for a large, fortune 500 company. Collagen protein is a huge ask from major retailers this year, as well as the consumer. It's not a surprise to see a smaller company be the first to use this in a whey protein. Hitting on all three types will be key to those who really know about collagen.
I love the use of Probiotics as well. I would love to see our space include more pre and probiotics. It does increase the cost, but gut health is often times disregarded. Probiotics is another huge ask from the CPG world that consumers care more about.
Kudos to Chris Waldrum and his team at IN. This is an exciting time to be around this space with plenty of innovation to come in 2019. Inspired Nutraceuticals has been on the forefront of consumer first innovation, and depending on price point, this could be really big for them.
