Olympus Promises Protein: Four Sources of Protein and a Solid Source of Flavor

By October 31, 2019No Comments

Olympus Promises Protein picks up where Olympus Labs left off with their Superior Protein. The brand not only rebranded to Olympus, but they also updated the formula on one of the better proteins on the market. Olympus Promises Protein contains four sources of protein to give users 25g per serving of both fast and slow digesting protein.

Olympus also keeps with their track record of full-transparency labeling of their protein. The brand discloses exactly how much of each protein source is contained within the 25g total.

On top of a great protein label, the brand delivers on great protein taste. These are two things that make a protein worth purchasing time and time again.

Olympus Promises Protein Label

As previously discussed, Promises from Olympus uses four protein sources and a fully transparent label to give users the confidence they need when buying a protein powder. Users can tell exactly what they are getting per scoop of the various types of proteins.

Olympus Promises LabelWhey Protein Isolate 90 – 11.5g

WPI90, or whey protein isolate, is a high quality protein source that is one of the faster digesting proteins on the market. WPI90 is also beneficial as it has no lactose, little to no fat and little to no carbs, all while delivering at least 90% protein quality. WPI90 is just shy of 50% of the Promises label.

Micellar Casein – 6g

Casein protein is the slowest digestion protein form. It is typically used by users at nighttime to “feed” them while they sleep and recovery. However, there is a huge benefit to taking casein protein post-workout as your body cannot readily absorb massive amounts of whey protein at one time. By incorporating a slower digesting protein like casein, your body can be fueled hours after your workout by a quality protein source.

Whey Protein Concentrate 80 – 5.5g

WPC80 is the highest quality whey protein concentrate on the market today. Whey protein concentrate can go down to as low as 34% quality. WPC80 is the known “gold standard” in the protein game. It contains limited fats, carbs and fast digesting protein.

Hydrolyzed Whey Protein 90 – 2g

Hydrolyzed whey protein is the fastest digesting protein on the market. It even digests and absorbs quicker than whey protein isolate, but only slightly. The addition of hydrolyzed whey protein gives Olympus four different protein sources are four different digesting speeds to ensure your body is being fed across a range of time post workout, or at anytime you take Olympus Promises Protein.

Olympus Promises Protein Flavors

Olympus has done it again with their protein flavors. The brand spends a considerable amount of time testing their protein flavors to ensure they will be loved by consumers. Promises Protein from Olympus is sure to win over consumers with the overall taste and mouthfeel experience. The mix of the four different protein sources makes it easier for Olympus to flavor, but also provide a great mouthfeel experience.

PB Crunch: (8.8/10)

PB Crunch is the only one of the three flavors to not include inclusion (pieces of actual cereal or candy). This is not a bad thing, especially for those that love a smooth protein powder. The shake itself, when mixed in 6oz of water, is very rich in peanut butter taste. For those of you that love peanut butter, you will be sure to fall in love with PB Crunch.

Cinna Cereal: (9.3/10)

Cinna Cereal may be one of the best “Cinnamon Toast Crunch” flavored proteins on the market today. The inclusions are fantastic. This version of Cinna Cereal feels like it has the most inclusions out of any proteins I have tried. This could be because the pieces are smaller, but it is very apparent that they are there which adds to the experience. There is a strong, delicious cinnamon taste with one, with a bit of a creamy feel due to shake thickness. We were huge fans of Cinna Cereal.

Fruity Cereal: (9.1/10)

We are massive fans of the fruity cereal trend. Olympus’ prior fruity cereal was our favorite fruity cereal variation ever. This variation is rock solid. There is a deep, strong fruity cereal taste to this. It tastes as if you had a bowl of Fruit Loops and you drank the milk after with some of the Fruit Loops left over. The pieces of real cereal are small so it feels like there is a lot of inclusions in this, making it really fun to drink.

Olympus Promises Protein BSCG Certification

Olympus Promises Protein is certified drug free from the Banned Substance Control Group. This means, “the program helps protect supplements for athletes, consumers and animals by independently testing and certifying finished products or their ingredients for banned substances.”

Final Takeaway

We love the full transparency on the label first and foremost. We like to see what kind of protein sources we are getting and how kuch of each we get. Olympus has always been good with this. We also love the new look. The old look was busy and confusion, but the look of Promises is clean and trendy. Going along the lines of clean, Olympus also has Promises certified drug free from BSCG which is going to become more of a requirement by retailers in the long-term, and it should be attractive to consumers, especially athletes.

Regarding the sources of protein, we like the use of all four. We are big fans of a whey/casein blend. That’s what we get here. We get four different sources that contribute to four different digestion rates, all the while giving us high quality protein per serving. Getting 25g of protein per serving, essentially being delivered as amino acids and peptides to our system at different rates is great for muscle recovery.

Lastly, we are a big fan of the flavors. We love the inclusions of real cereal pieces as it adds to the fun of the protein. Promises delivers on great taste and mouthfeel, something that all protein should do in this day and age.

If you’re looking for a high quality protein that tastes great and is clear of any banned substances, Olympus Promises Protein is a great choice.
