We’re back to bring another product from our friends over at Revive MD. Revive MD is a brand in our space that may not be the first brand that comes to your mind when it comes to improving your performance, however it SHOULD be the first brand in our space that comes to mind when it comes to something more important, your health.
For this write-up, we are going to go over Revive MD’s D3+K2 supplement. While many of you may already be supplementing with Vitamin D, perhaps some of you may find that you are lacking in Vitamin K2. According to a study, it may actually be beneficial to supplement with both.
Why Take Revive MD K2+D3?
Many of us are not getting sufficient amounts of Vitamin K and D in our diets today. Whether we are not eating enough foods that contain these vitamins, or we are not getting enough natural sunlight, both of these vitamins have amazing benefits. Revive MD K2+D3 really is a general health supplement, but if you are concerned with your cardiovascular system and blood pressure, this would be a good supplement to take. Another reason you should take Revive MD’s K2+D3 is for bone strength.
Revive MD K2+D3
To fully understand why Revive MD K2+D3 should be an everyday staple product for you, you must understand the science behind the two vitamins used in the formulation.
Vitamin D3 (as Cholecalciferol) – 125mcg (5,000 IU)
Vitamin D3 is one of the most popular vitamins for people to supplement with, and it certainly gained a lot of traction over the last decade. If you don’t know, unless your food contains or has been fortified with Vitamin D, you’re going to have to get it from the sun. Of course, with the lives we lead these days, getting the sun is either not convenient, or impossible depending on the time of the year. Wearing clothes, skin tone, amount of time spent in doors, etc can all play a role in absorption. There are many reasons as to why you should supplement with Vitamin D3.
Why D3? To start, vitamin D3, when compared to vitamin D2, (ergocalciferol) has superior bioavailability. There are a wealth of benefits, certainly too many to name here. The most popular use of Vitamin D is for bone health. Since vitamin D is vital for calcium absorption, as is Vitamin K, it makes sense to see it here.
Not only may adequate Vitamin D levels prevent bone loss, healthy vitamin D levels may also lower your risk for cardiovascular disease. Vitamin D has also been shown in a meta-analysis to reduce to risk of colorectal cancer (doses at 1,000IU-2000IU). While there are plenty of studies we could go over for this, we’re going to end it here as this could easily turn into a 10 page write-up. We think you get the idea.
Revive MD gives us 5,000IU of Vitamin D3 per dose, which is a good dose.
Vitamin K2 (as Menaquinone-7 (MK-7)) – 180mcg
We’re going to start this off with a little lesson here. There are 2 kinds of Vitamin K. There is K1 (phylloquinone), and K2 (menaquinone). Vitamin K has long been known as a blood coagulator. The biggest difference you need to know between K1 and K2 is that K1 comes from plants (mainly leafy green vegetables), while K2 being found in animal and fermented foods.
To make it simple, K2 is important for bone health, as it helps with getting Calcium out of the bloodstream, thus preventing it from any build up in the blood vessels. This is important, as excessive calcium in the blood can build up, which may lead to heart disease.
Now why is this paired with D3? Well, just like vitamin D, Vitamin K plays a huge role in calcium metabolism, so it makes sense to take them together. Supplementing with Vitamin K2 (specifically the MK7 form), has been studied and shown to be beneficial for decreasing bone loss over time in postmenopausal women.
Revive MD uses the MK7 form of Vitamin K2. This is important, as there are two forms of K2, namely MK4 and MK7. According to a study, MK7 has superior absorption when compared to MK4. The issue with MK7, is that it is found in foods that some may not eat every day, these include fermented soy, sauerkraut, and some forms of cheese.
You get 180mcg of MK7 in here, which is a solid dose.
Final Takeaway
Revive MD gives us a well-dosed, high-quality product that is certainly worth looking into. If you already supplement with Vitamin D3, take a look at your diet, and you may find that you’re lacking in Vitamin K2 as well.
If you care about your long term bone health, Revive MD has the product for you. Not only may it be good for bone health, it may also aid in other aspects as well.
