Pre-clinical studies indicate that DL 185® not only drives muscle growth, but also lowers inflammation, boosts nitric oxide and soleus muscle mass. This creates an environment supporting recovery and and vascularity.
While historical data showed that leucine was considered the “gold standard” for activating the mTOR (mechanistic Target of Rapamycin) pathway, recent research suggests that leucine alone may not be sufficient to maximally stimulate MPS.
DL 185® effectiveness is due to its activation of mTOR and absorption speed is in part due to the Human Peptide Transporter (PEPT1), a special uptake transporter for dipeptides. PEPT1-mediated active absorption results in the high bioavailability of orally administered dipeptides. This means greater absorption and faster delivery of dileucine to muscles. By using the PEPT1 transporter, significantly less Dilecuine is broken down by digestive enzymes, meaning more dileucine is actually absorbed. Research shows that DL 185® is absorbed 185% faster than leucine. The faster rate of absorption also lead to a 60% increase in MPS compared to leucine alone.
Research shows that just after 30-minutes of ingesting 2,000mg of DL 185® 86% more leucine is available to the muscles. An optimal level of leucine is required to stimulate MPS; this is known as the leucine threshold. The optimal amount of leucine to stimulate MPS is 1.7-3.5g, preferably from a fast-absorbing protein source with sufficient leucine content such as whey protein. Whey protein is a great source of leucine, but what would make it better is if that protein was broken down into amino acids (i.e. leucine and others) and absorbed faster into the bloodstream. Even-so, the dileucine content of whey protein (and other proteins) is minuscule, so by enhancing the protein with DL 185® or using DL 185® as a standalone, you will increase the absorption rate and amount of dileucine being used by the body.

Overall gains were measured at total strength increased by 145%, lower body strength increased by 189% and a 200% increase in leg press endurance over the leucine group.
