AN Performance Hybrid Protein: Multiple Digestion and Absorption Rates for Better Recovery

AN Performance Hybrid Whey

AN Performance launched in the US with various products across different categories. To encompass a full brand launch, AN Performance also included a protein powder, the #1 category of sports nutritional supplements. However, they did not follow a cookie-cutter approach to protein. AN Performance has launched a Hybrid Protein consisting of three protein sources and in a protein tested and banned substance free formula.

Not all protein powder is created equally. AN Performance elected to create a 23g protein powder with three sources of protein to assist in digestion and absorption, mouth feel and flavoring. AN Performance Hybrid Protein is available in multiple flavors featuring similar macros.

AN Performance Hybrid Protein Nutrition Facts Panel

While many brands elect to get into the protein game with a pure isolate or a concentrate, AN Performance decided to add both...and then some. AN Performance Hybrid Protein is a combination of 50% whey protein isolate, 25% whey protein concentrate and 25% milk protein isolate.

Whey protein isolate is one of the highest quality protein sources available. It is at least 90% protein with the majority of fat removed, no carbohydrates and no lactose. Whey protein isolate tends to be the first choice among people who want a fast digesting and absorbing protein powder. Due to the macros having essentially only protein it is also the choice of many looking to avoid fats and carbs. Since the lactose is removed, many people with lactose issues can tolerate a whey protein isolate. AN Performance Hybrid Protein contains 50% whey protein isolate.

Whey protein concentrate is also a high quality whey protein source. It is at least 80% protein. There can be a small amount of fats and carbs as well as traces of lactose, albeit still very minimal. Whey protein concentrate still has a PDCAAS score of 1 which is the best. Whey protein concentrate (WPC) tends to have slightly better mouth feel and carries better flavoring with it than a whey protein isolate (WPI). WPC tends to digest and absorb quickly, but slightly less than WPI. AN Performance Hybrid Protein contains 25% whey protein concentrate.

Milk protein isolate contains 80% casein protein and 20% whey protein. Milk protein isolate also has a PDCAAS score of 1, meaning it is a complete protein source and high quality. The fact it contains approximately 80% casein means it will digest slower and absorb slower than your WPI or WPC. This helps feed your body of a longer period of time. AN Performance Hybrid Protein contains 25% milk protein isolate.

The combination of the three sources of protein gives users 23g protein per serving. It also acts quickly with the whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate to breakdown into amino acids to aid in recovery quickly. The additional milk protein isolate (speaking to casein protein here) continues to fuel the body over a longer period of time.

AN Performance Hybrid Protein contains 1g fat and 3g of carbs per serving in addition to the 23g protein. Users can expect 110 calories per serving.

AN Performance Hybrid Protein is also free of banned substances and tested for purity so you can buy with confidence that you are getting at least 23g protein per serving. This is an additional certification AN Performance pays for to certify you get what you are paying for.

AN Performance Hybrid Protein is available in chocolate and vanilla flavors exclusively at The Vitamin Shoppe for $49.99 for 25-servings.

Final Takeaway AN Performance Hybrid Protein

In today's world of rising protein prices, having a certified label to ensure you are getting what you are paying for is huge. I love the blend of WPI, WPC and milk protein isolate. This will ensure quick re-fuel for your muscles that you just exhausted and damaged, but also feed you over an extended period of time. It also will have better mouth feel and flavor, in my opinion, than a traditional WPI. One Sip Reviews and more are coming to our social media channels.
