Just by taking it does not mean it is going to give you six-pack-abs. You have to utilize the extra energy it gives you in your muscle tissues and your brain to burn that fat through exercise.

I was bulking while taking this product. I had never used L-Carnitine before by itself. I would take three servings a day, once in the morning, once at lunch and once at night. While bulking I increased my calories to 4200 and a majority of them came from carbohydrates. I was worried about putting on belly fat so I started taking this.

I was able to put on 13 pounds while only increasing my body fat 3% point. I still had my abs and felt great about myself. If it is then spending $20 for 31 servings of 1500mg of L-Carnitine is not bad. I went years without supplementing with it. I was able to keep a great six pack just from lifting and eating right.

If I wasn’t bulking I wouldn’t need this nor would I spend the money on it. Ingredients Profile

Hydro Pump contains the ingredients needed for a basic pump. They use HydroMax Gycerol which increases fluid concentration in your blood and tissues (increasing your pump).

The pump complex in this is a blend of Agmatine Sulfate, L-Citrulline Malate, L-Taurine, Sodium Chloride and Black Pepper Extract. These are the typical ingredients used to make a pump product. This has 1000mg of this blend. The only downfall here is the ingredients are not broken out so we do not know what percentage of this 1000mg goes to each ingredient.

Effectiveness

HydroPump does not make that claim. They do make the claim that this product’s ingredients will make you feel larger and fuller, and that’s exactly what it does. For me to get a proper pump from this I needed to take two servings but I am also highly tolerant to stimulants. The everyday person, and especially who NutraKey targets, would be fine with just one scoop.

With two scoops my muscles were larger and more flow as this product helps increase NO in your blood. This is fantastic. Other pump products we’ve reviewed gave similar results but were priced in the $30’s.

The only thing that would have made this more valuable to us is if we could get by with only one scoop. So essentially for me this was less than $20 for 15-servings but then again I always had to take double scoops of other pump products as well.

Ingredients Profile

They have four different components: performance blend, amino acid profile, weight loss blend and antioxidant blend. All four of these components are fantastic if properly dosed. However this product is under dosed in certain key ingredients.

The performance blend isn’t too terrible. It does have 1g of L-Citrulline and .5g of beta alanine. For those that have never used beta alanine this would be enough for them to feel the effects. The amino acid blend, although not completely necessary in a pre-workout catalyst, is vastly under dosed. It has a 2:1:1 ratio of BCAAs but only .5g of them. This isn’t enough to make any improvements in muscle recovery. The L-Glutamine is dosed at 250mg which like BCAAs is under dosed.

The weight loss blend contains green tea extract and caffeine. Both proven to speed up metabolism. There is 100mg of caffeine which is the equivalent of a cup of coffee. For those who do not drink caffeine this could be sufficient in aiding in your workout energy.

​Lastly, the antioxidant blend looks very attractive. Effectiveness

(3/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Since CLEAN+LEAN is not directed towards serious lifters like myself, in my opinion, I brought my wife in to be the product tester.  She has only taken BCAA’s and aminos with energy in the past. She’s never taken a pre-workout product.

She did indicate that she had an increase in body temp while using this prior to her workouts. This would be the beta alanine that we talked about in the profile section. At this dosage even a novice may feel the effects. She also indicated that this product made her shaky at times. If you’ve ready any of our prior reviews on PWOs you know we don’t care too much about taste because PWOs are meant to be taken quickly 15-30 minutes prior to your lift but we know some people like to sip on their pre-workout as they make the drive to the gym.

With that being said I wasn’t a fan of the raspberry lemonade flavor of PRE HAK. Typically when we see this the product has to provide some exceptional benefits to justify that price tag. This is an organic, all-natural vegan product so we do know with that comes a higher price tag, rightfully so.

However, because we felt this product was under dosed and the effectiveness was only a little bit of additional energy in the gym we cannot justify spending that type of money on this product. Now we are not a 100% organic/vegan family so if you are you may feel differently about this price tag and what you get. Ingredients Profile

POST HAK contains a size and strength matrix which is something you’d typically see in a pre-workout. It contains L-Citrulline DL-Malate, betaine anhydrous, L-Carnintine and creatine. The creatine used is creatine HCL which studies have shown absorbs quicker than creatine monohydrate thus not needing as much. This packs in 2g. Although some of these ingredients are probably not needed in a post workout it is nice that they are included. The L-Carnitine and L-Citrulline DL-Malate reduces fatigue while increasing metabolism.

​The bread and butter of this supplement is the recovery component. POST HAK contains 6g of 3:1:1 BCAAs. The added Leucine aids in muscle recovery. In fact, Leucine is like the key that starts the muscle recovery process. You also get 3g of L-Glutamine which has been proven to speed up recovery among other positive effects. It also contains cherry tart powder which is an anti-inflammatory (480mg). Effectiveness

For me, when taking POST HAK, I worked out with high intensity. POST HAK helped reduce the inflammation of my muscles which reduced delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). I know this because prior to POST HAK I was feeling some adverse effects from some of my lifts. If anything I increased my intensity from that moment in time. I also reduced my intake of aminos from other sources. With that being said I did talk with the president of HAK Nutrition and he informed me before even taking the product that there was an issue with the manufacturer with the cherry tart not being micronized thus causing a bad mixability product. HAK Nutrition has insured me that this has been resolved with the manufacturer. For $35 at the HAK Nutrition website you can get this 25-serving tub. Given the effectiveness of this product I think it is a small price to pay to aid in muscle recovery.

We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in the pre-workout, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.

We then look at effectiveness. An effective pre-workout will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages.  This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Raspberry Lemonade.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Ingredients Profile

PRE HAK contains 275mg of caffeine anhydrous along with 25mg of TeaCrine for a total of 300mg of an energy kick which has become the norm in the PWO market.

Their strength component contains properly dosed betaine anhydrous (2.5g), hydrochloric creatine (2g) and taurine (2g). These doses are among the better side of the PWO market. You also get 6g of BCAA (2:1:1 ratio) which is uncommon in the pre-workout market. This is an added benefit to fight fatigue. Of course it contains beta-alanine (2g).

The focus component of PRE HAK is very typical of a PWO in that it contains N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine (1.5g) which has been shown to improve mental focus and clarity.

Jump to the pump component and you get 6g of L-Citrulline DL-Malate (2:1 – we typically see 1:1 but this is good). This is on the higher side of the L-Citrulline dosages which we are not going to complain about…we all love a good pump. You also get cocoa bean extract which has shown to increase blood flow allowing for a more fuller pump.

​Overall you get 21 active ingredients per scoop. Effectiveness

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Effectiveness on a pre-workout really comes down to what you want to derive from the PWO. For us we like a nice steady energy, not something that hits you at once and then fades.

We love the cognitive components of PWO when they work. Of course we always enjoy a nice pump. PRE HAK provides all three. I know I just said we like a euphoric energy component of a PWO but I still don’t mind a nice rush at the beginning. With PRE HAK you don’t get that, but you do get a sustained energy throughout.

The focus is awesome on this product. You’re in the gym and you’re on a mission. Although you don’t see a lot of PWO have a fatigue component PRE HAK includes it and you can tell. I found myself wanting to keep going even after my normal lift, not because of the 275mg of caffeine but because of the 6g of BCAA included in this PWO.

Taste

Raspberry Lemonade: (3/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]This is one of the more underwhelming parts of this pre-workout. If you’ve ready any of our prior reviews on PWOs you know we don’t care too much about taste because PWOs are meant to be taken quickly 15-30 minutes prior to your lift but we know some people like to sip on their pre-workout as they make the drive to the gym.

With that being said I wasn’t a fan of the raspberry lemonade flavor of PRE HAK. At their website this retails for about $45 for 25 servings. With that being said you are paying for quality. I think for someone who just wants an energy kick and doesn’t care about the fatigue support then this wouldn’t be for you.

If you are looking for an all-inclusive pre-workout this is a nice option if you are willing to pay for it. It’s label is not overly complicated but your required serving for an optimal pump may vary depending on your weight and tolerance. Ingredients Profile

PUMPED, like most pump igniters contains very typical pump ingredients like L-Citrulline, Agmatine Sulfate and L-Norvaline. The combination of L-Citrullline (which promotes the production of nitric oxide (NO) in your blood stream by converting to arginine in the kidneys which increases NO levels) and L-Norvaline (when your body creates NO from arginine it also creates an enzyme putting a ceiling on the amount of NO produced – L-Norvaline inhibits this ceiling) allows for amazing pumps when dosed correctly. This product is dosed fairly well so it can be used by a multitude of lifters.

The L-Citrulline is at 2g which optimal levels, per studies, may be around 6g per day, so getting 2g at once is 33% of your intake.

L-Norvaline, per studies, should be supplemented between 100-200mg – this product has 100mg.

The 500mg of Agmatine Sulfate is on the lower side, but Agmatine Sulfate allows for you to push through pain thresholds and helps the production of NO in your blood stream.  

​KA-POW! PUMPED also include Hydromax which allows your muscles to store water and promote blood flow. This is typically dosed at a 1:1 ratio so it actually comes in 1,000mg less than L-Citrulline but I wouldn’t be too worried about that. Effectiveness

However my muscles were more “full” after lifts which does translate into this product being productive. In full transparency I did end up having to use two scoops of this to get a really good pump. This allowed me to get 1g of Agmatine Sulfate which improved my pumps.

I believe someone who has not dabbled in some hardcore pre-workouts and pump products that one scoop would be plenty. It is important to note that this is not a pre-workout, it is a pump igniter meaning it should be taken with a pre-workout.  Overall the effectiveness of the product was good for producing a sizable pump with two scoops for me. Although I do not recommend taking this as a standalone product, as it should be mixed with a pre-workout, there really is no taste to it. I would just mix it with my morning pre-workout and it never had an effect on the taste of the pre-workout. If you are a heavier individual you may require more Arimistane to inhibit your Aromatase. If you also just came off of a hardcore prohormone you may need to start with a high dosage of Arimistane to regulate your hormones. One serving of Arimistane is 50mg (25mg per capsule). Studies have suggested that during the first week you may want to consume 75-100mg of Arimistane eventually reducing your dosage down to 25-50mg around the fourth week of use. Effectiveness

Arimistane was effective for me in several ways. The first was coming off a cycle of Diverge Max from Divided Labs I wanted to ensure that my hormonal balance would fall back in line while not losing any of my gains. I was able to get over 200 lbs on Diverge Max and after a cycle of Arimistane I am weighing in at 205 lbs.

The second was maintaining my lean mass gains. This is big because when you come off a “testosterone” type of a product your hormonal imbalance can cause synthesis of testosterone into estorgen thus causing fat pockets, loss of mass, man boobs, etc. None of that here. As I mentioned before I am weight in at 205 (bigger even after the cycle of Diverge Max) and still lean as I can be.

The third was libido. When using any sort of PH or testosterone booster your libido can be effected when you come off the cycle. This did not happen at all with Arimistane. In fact, my libido increased dramatically. I have never taken a product that did this. Any man will love this!

Ingredients Profile

Diverge Max goes one step ahead of its original and combines the Laxosterone (5a-hydroxy laxogenin) with Epicatechin (the main ingredient in their Maxcat product). These two ingredients work collectively to promote muscle growth.

Laxosterone is a plant-based steroid. No, this is not an illegal steroid like Anavar (which Laxosterone has been compared too due to the results it provides). This is not an anabolic steroid what-so-ever. Laxosterone provides results similar to steroids but does not have any negative impact on liver toxicity. Tests have shown Laxosterone to increase protein synthesis by as much as 200% which is key to muscle recovery, growth and strength. Studies have also shown that Laxosterone increases strength and muscle mass.

Epicatechin is an ingredient commonly found in dark chocolate. We’ve all heard that dark chocolate is good for us, but never truly understood why. What Epicatechin does is increases our blood flow into our muscles by dilating the blood vessels.  It also has a positive effect on insulin sensitivity which is another key in muscle growth.  In this case, for this product, the main benefit of Epicatechin is that it inhibits myostatin. Myostatin is produced by our body to essentially put a limit on our muscle growth. If we did not produce myostatin the human body would get so big we would not be able to function.

This product contains 50mg of Laxosterone. Other studies indicate that Epicatechin should be dosed north of 200mg for an aggressive plan but can be as low as 40mg for normal health. This product is dosed at 100mg of Epicatechin so right in the middle. Effectiveness

I had a goal in mind while using Diverge Max, to finally get to 200 pounds. My weight fluctuated between 192 and 194 at the start of this 30-day cycle. Effectiveness to me is judged based on what my goals are and what the product claims. Diverge Max claims increased strength gains and increased mass.  After 30-days on Diverge Max I was 201 pounds and my strength drastically increased.

My other goal was a 500 pound dead lift. My PR prior to Diverge Max was 465 pounds. My new PR ended up being 475 pounds. I was also able to lift 500 pounds about 4 inches off the ground. So although I did not obtain my goal of 500 pounds I did increase my PR.

To me this was extremely effective as I was able to achieve my body weight goal without increasing my body fat percentage. I was over 200 pounds one other time (while lifting…not when I was fat) but I did not have my abs then. I have my abs now and I am in the 200 pound club.

Vasogen XT is a pump activating product designed to increase blood flow and water to our muscles giving you prolonged endurance and massive pumps. It utilizes Agmatine but does not rely on it for the pumps. It relies more on clinically studied herbal compounds.

I’ve struggled with pump products before as they never seemed to work. Vasogen XT is the first pump product I have used where I have felt any sort of reaction from it. Although I did not get the promised increased vascularity I did see my muscles “swell” up and allow me to lift harder and longer. We then look at effectiveness. An effective pre-workout will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages.  This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Hawaiian Pump.

Ingredients Profile

They use a herbal blend of ingredients including Hawthorne Berry Powder (increases blood flow from the heart and widens the blood vessels), Schizandra Berry Powder (increases your endurance and energy) and Pine Bark Extract (increases blood flow). It also utilizes Theobromine which widens your blood cells too. Agmatine is included to “increase” pumps but also mask the “pain” you get when lifting heavy weights allowing you to push through thresholds.

​The profile is very solid with the ingredient list. Effectiveness

I did notice an increase in my overall size from the pump so from that standpoint it was effective.

I did not get the vascularity as promised by the label. However, I have never had a single product that has made me vascular. I am a muscular human but vascularity has never been something I have been able to experience.

Overall the pump was semi-effective. The only drawback is I could not find anything on the label that really told me what flavors were inside of the Hawaiian Pump, but that is neither here nor there. Overall I enjoyed the taste. A pump product, in my opinion, is not as essentially as a pre-workout. Vasogen XT comes in a 30-serving container with a price tag north of $30. So the big question you need to ask is do you need a pump product? If so then this is a great value for your pump product because it works fairly well. I would not spend more than the list price on this.
