MFIT SUPPS Recoup Infuses Hemp Into a Post-Workout Recovery Formula

By January 31, 2020No Comments

MFIT SUPPS has been quite impressive to us here at Fitness Informant since their launch in 2019. Not only do they have excellent manufacturing standards, they seem to take a different approach with their products. For example, they aren’t afraid to use CBD in their products, and when they do, they make sure to do it right!

Another great example of this, is Recoup. A product from MFIT SUPPS which takes a different approach to post-workout recovery. While many brands make post-workout supplements that are essentially just whey protein with sugar, MFIT SUPPS took a different route.

MFIT SUPPS Recoup

Recoup is a Hemp based post-workout recovery formula. Let’s go through the profile of Recoup and see what makes this one different.

BCAAs (as Vegan InstAminos®) – 6g

Recoup LabelThe first ingredient in MFIT SUPPS Recoup is Leucine at 3,500mg, and further down the list come the other two BCAAs, Isoleucine and Valine at 1,250mg. We’re putting them together to keep this simple. The ratio is approximately 2.8:1:1. BCAAs, especially Leucine, are responsible for jump-starting mTOR and MPS, (muscle protein synthesis). Taken post-workout, this can certainly get the rebuilding process started and help your body recover from your workouts.

We get 6g of total BCAAs in Recoup, which is a solid dose.

RPM Factors™ (Bovine Colostrum) – 2.5g

This is probably the most interesting ingredient in Recoup. While Colostrum was brought into the forefront of the industry around 2014, it got a bad name due to the marketing. It faded out for a bit, but is starting to be added to more post-workout products these days.

Colostrum has been shown to be beneficial for immune system purposes, and this trademarked form of Colostrum may improve recovery time as well.

Velositol® – 2g

Velositol is an ingredient by Nutrition 21 designed to be added to protein powder to help significantly boost MPS beyond protein alone (as measured by FSR), promote leaner body composition,  doubles the power of protein on MPS vs. protein alone in a single dose and unlocks the potential of protein to enhance muscle-building activity after exercise.

Velositol, when added to protein, doubles the impact of protein on MPS versus protein alone. Velositol was designed to boost the effect of protein and exercise on MPS, positively contributing to the protein to help build muscle and improve lean body mass.

At 2g, it is dosed well in Recoup. If you want more info on Velositol®, check out our write-up on it here.

Betapower® Betaine Anhydrous – 2g

Betapower® is a trademarked form of Betaine Anhydrous. Betaine Anhydrous promotes cellular hydration and has been shown to increase power output, and is almost standard in pre-workout and post-workout supplements these days.

While we’d like to see 2.5g, 2g should be enough for many. Also, Betaine is so common in supplements these days, you’re probably getting some in your pre-workout as it is. Either way, 2g should be sufficient, and we have no complaints.

Verdant Oasis Hemp Oil™- 250mg

If you know MFIT SUPPS, you know that they have quality at the forefront of their minds. MFit uses European Hemp Oil from Verdant Oasis. This trademarked form of Hemp Oil goes through some of the strictest quality control one could imagine, and this is no surprise from MFit. To start this off, the 250mg of Hemp Oil provides 25mg of phytocannabinoids. When it comes to this product, the 25mg of Phytocannabinoids are mostly from CBD, also known as Cannabidiol.

Hemp is a natural source of CBD, which has been taking the market by storm over the past year. According to studies, CBD may be an effective treatment for the purpose of reducing anxiety, it is a nice way to get you in the right “state of mind” post-workout.

Verdant Oasis Hemp Oil™ is a full-spectrum Phytocannabinoid product, which contains no CBD isolates (which are drugs). If you’re looking for info on CBD itself, please check out our write-up on Stress-66, another solid product from MFIT SUPPS. We go over CBD a bit more in depth there.

At 25mg, many would say that the CBD is quite low compared to the studies we have. Anecdotally, we can say we enjoy CBD here on FI, however we are waiting for more studies to come out before we go ahead and give it two thumbs up. With that said, knowing that the product is coming from MFIT SUPPS, we can safely say that if you’re interested in CBD, we’d suggest getting it from MFIT SUPPS.

Final takeaway

Overall, Recoup is not your simple post-workout protein powder with sugar added to it. It is a blend of ingredients which all may aid in recovery and immune support. It’s nice to see MFIT SUPPS take a different approach to post-workout, and we commend them for using interesting ingredients, as well as all every ingredient being a trademarked ingredient. MFIT SUPPS is willing to pay more to make an effective product with high-quality ingredients, and simply put, they are effective.

We have been using Recoup for about a week now, and we have been enjoying the effects. We’ve noticed little to no DOMS, even after intense workouts. While the taste maybe different due to the Colostrum, it’s still enjoyable.
