Resurrect PM is a sleep aid designed to help you get a full night’s sleep while helping muscle recovery. For a sleep aid this is sufficient and works well, but where it lacks is in the muscle recovery category due to being under dosed. Ingredients Profile

This is a solid source of L-Dopa, which makes you feel good, allowing you to relax. Another ingredient that allows you to relax and focus is Choline Bitartrate. We get that in this as well at 550mg. Then, we get 500mg GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid). GABA helps relieve anxiety and improve your overall mood, while promoting lean muscle growth. Phenibut is used in this as well. At 500mg, Phenibut is designed to help you get a deeper, REM like sleep to help improve muscle recovery. Phenibut is a great ingredient but we need to caution you, too much of Phenibut can make you sleep longer than you want, and it can be addictive.

The last thing we get is a ZMA blend at 552mg. ZMA blends are designed to promote sleep and muscle recovery.

Dosage

Mucana Pruriens (750mg): studies show this as high as 5g to work, it could work in the case of minimal test levels and could increase there…but questionable. We are low.

Choline Bitartrate (550mg): 250-500mg is sufficient, nice work here.

GABA (500mg): for production of growth hormone, dosages of 3,000-5,000 seem to be the range. We are low.

Phenibut (500mg): no optimal dosages, but 500mg is sufficient starting point. I have seen this between 250mg and 1.6g.

ZMA Blend (552mg): this depends but typically you like to see Zinc around 30mg, Magnesium Aspartate at 450mg and B6 around 11mg. What’s confusing with my label is that it has these ingredients listed above the actives as well.

Overall, dosage is OK on a couple ingredients, but lack in other areas. Effectiveness

I will admit that the Phenibut does help with sleep. I had good night’s sleep using only the 500mg of Phenibut. It is hard to say on the test levels and muscle recovery, however. Looking at the label, I find it hard to believe that the GABA is doing anything at all. ZMA blend may be helping but this isn’t something you can “feel.”

Overall, I look at this more as a sleep aid, and it does OK with that.

Shockingly, this is only $28 for 25-servings, which isn’t terrible. Ingredients Profile

We start with 4g of 2:1:1 BCAAs. This is the ideal ratio studies to help with muscle fatigue and to fight Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. I would personally like to see this around 5g per serving, minimum. Blackstone Labs also tosses in other EAAs including 1g of Lysine, 950mg of Threonine, 300mg of Methionine and 150mg of Phenylalanine. They also toss in non-essential amino acid in the form of L-Alanine at 500mg. Collectively these amino acids are the building blocks of muscle. Together they prevent muscle fatigue and improve muscle recovery. The one ask would be to use Fermented Vegas Aminos…since then I know where they come from.

You also get 1g of Taurine. This is an ingredient that promotes strength output.

Not to be outdone, Blackstone Labs tosses in a focus blend of 640mg of Hica, Theobromine and CDP Choline. Hica actually helps with muscle fatigue, Theobromine dilates blood vessels and choline helps with cognitive functions.

Overall, a good profile on this “BCAA” product. Effectiveness

I wouldn’t venture as far to say that it improved my focus, but I can say that the aminos helped with muscular fatigue and soreness. Ideally a guy my size would want 15-20g of BCAAs per day. Most I can get from food, but the 4g I get here help, and they are absorbed quickly into my system.

Unlike a pre-workout, you don’t necessarily feel the effect of BCAAs right away, but you do as the day progresses, and eventually the next day. Again, I did feel like it helped with fatigue and soreness. The 1g of Taurine also helped push a little more than you would typically do, as it is designed.

Taste

Passion Fruit: (6/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]When I see Passion Fruit, I want to like it. I just didn’t love it. It was OK. It was drinkable, for sure, but not the best I have ever had. You could say that it does taste like Passion Fruit (although I think I only have had this in Mexico) but it wasn’t as refreshing as I would have liked.

With Amino products I do like a good tasting product as you drink it during your lift. This left me wanting more, in terms of taste. With BCAA Resurgence, the mixibility was much better than I had anticipated. Overall, a couple vigorous shakes and it was mixed in well. Ingredients Profile

The Pump first starts with 4g of pure L-Citrulline. A clinical dosage of Citrulline is 3-5g when it is pure. We are right in the middle, and this is a pump product. I would bet your pre-workout, if you take one, also has a form of Citrulline. Then we get the first branded, expensive ingredient in Nitrosigine at 1.5g. Nitrosigine is a newer ingredient from Nutrition 21 that really works well. The recommended dosage is 1.5g, so we are on-point here. The main benefit of Nitrosigine is the increased NO production and blood flow in your body. Another branded ingredient used is Capros Indian Gooseberry Extract. Yes, this is one of those unique ingredients you don’t see often. This ingredient significantly increases NO production as well at doses as low as 250mg (that’s what this is dosed at). Lastly, we get 200mg of L-Norvaline. L-Norvaline works by inhibiting arginase, allowing you to achieve longer, stronger pumps that give more power and recovery ability. The recommended dosage is 100mg+. Well done, Pitbull Labs.

Overall, this is a really good profile with some cool ingredients. I am a fan of Nitrosigine and L-Norvaline. Citrulline is always nice too. If this had HydroMax…wow…this would be unreal (it really is amazing without it!) Effectiveness

Listen, it is. It works well. I would, at times, take a scoop in a half just to see if I could break through my cutoff t…kidding, but not really.

You will get a pump off of this. Enough said. I like the combination of ingredients and collectively they increase NO while inhibiting the NO killer which is going to lead to great pumps and ultimately better muscle recovery and building.

Taste

I would be the first to admit I am not the biggest fan in the world of Cherry anything, but when mixed with Lime it isn’t bad. I know PBL is proud of their flavors and this is good. It tastes exactly as you’d think it would taste. You get the cherry kick followed by the lime, citrus flavor. Pitbull Labs The Pump falls right in the middle. We get 25-servings for $40. The big difference between this pump and others out there is that this is dosed PERFECTLY with the ingredients used, they are not cheap ingredients and it works well. I was surprised that we even got 25-servings with this. Ingredients Profile

This is a higher quality (>90%) protein powder that is absorbed quicker than your traditional whey protein concentrate. Let’s dive into the label.

Here are the macros:

Fats: .5g
Carbs: 3g
Protein: 26g

The 26g of whey protein isolate makes up 78% of the serving size. This is typically higher on an isolate, but with CEN Whey there is a reason.

CEN Whey also includes ProHydrolase. This ingredient is a patent ingredient from Deerland Enzymes. Without getting too scientific, ProHydrolase essentially can quickly breakdown the proteins and increase the amount of amino acids in the blood stream (the building blocks of muscle). This is a huge benefit post-workout. I have not seen a product on the market use this yet. Kudos to CEN!

The profile was a 10, so effectiveness should also be a 10. With the addition of ProHydrolase and the research behind it, that is a huge benefit over a lot of other isolates on the market. The quicker you can breakdown proteins and get the amino acids in the blood stream, the quicker muscle protein synthesis can start and help you recover and build muscle.

The other thing about this Isolate protein is you don’t get bloat with it. After looking at the profile I thought to myself, if they can price this right, it could be a home run. Unfortunately, this is a 22 serving, 1.64lb bag that retails for $55. Ouch. Listen, I get it costs money using ProHydrolase, but the consumer is not to this point yet. When you can buy a 5lb tub of a tri-blend protein (albeit doesn’t have ProHydrolase) for less than this…you’re going to have a tough time convincing the consumer, and me, to buy this product.

More research and credibility needs to be done INDEPENDENTLY to prove ProHydrolase is all that and more at this price tag. Ingredients Profile

Most times when a bodybuilder puts their name on a product, the product sucks. That’s just the reality of the situation. RCSS King Whey is a fully transparent label featuring 20g of whey protein concentrate and 5g of whey protein isolate for a total of 25g of protein.

This is typical with protein powders, to be anywhere between 20-25g per serving. I like the idea of having a blended protein, meaning both whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate. I would like, however, more WPI in a blend. This features 20g of whey protein concentrate, which is great. This is slower absorbing than whey protein isolate. I would like to see 10g of WPI with 15g of WPC, but at the end of the day it still isn’t terrible. It is nice to get 5g of fast absorbing protein.

The one area we are unsure of is the quality of whey protein concentrate. WPC can be anywhere between 34% and 80% in terms of quality. It would be nice to see this listed out on the label. WPI has to be 90%+. The 25g of protein per serving is actually 76% protein per serving, not terrible.

Effectiveness on protein is really a direct extension of the ingredient deck. We rated the ingredient deck an 8 out of 10, so effectiveness falls into the same category.

As we mentioned before, you will get 5g of fast absorbing whey protein isolate and 20g of slower absorbing whey protein concentrate. This is solid for feeding your body post workout. Again, a direct extension of the ingredient deck.

One area in which people have issues with protein powders is bloat. You don’t get any of that here.

Yeah, this is the exact taste of this protein powder. It’s called chocolate brownie, but they could have easily called it brownie batter.

Mixibility

We don’t have any issues with that. The profile is good (although we’d like to see the quality of whey protein concentrate) and the taste is phenomenal. The one area which concerns us is the mixibility which was mentioned before. I do think this protein powder is worth the price tag. When you compare to others similar, we do have higher rated protein powders that retail for the same price.

If you are looking for a delicious protein with a good profile, then this one is for you. We then look at effectiveness. An effective pre-workout will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages.  This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Peach Tea.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Ingredients Profile

(7.5/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]B.A.R. Nutrition’s Pre-Workout uses many standard ingredients with proven results. It also incorporates other ingredients that are known, but not widely seen. Let’s dive into it.

Let’s look at the pump ingredients first. We first start with 6g of L-Citrulline Malate. This is the clinical dosage of this ingredient. This is a pump enhancing ingredient as it helps promote blood flow. Next, we get 1g of L-Arginine. This is a solid dosage of an ingredient that will influence and increase NO levels in the body. After that, we get 1g of Agmatine Sulfate. This increases the perception of pain, and inhibits NO eating enzymes in the body, allowing your nitric oxide levels to work for you. A selection and dosages of pump ingredients.

Then we get into strength and endurance. We start with 1.5g of Beta-Alanine. This is the “itchy” ingredient to most, but it actually serves a purpose. It is intended to improve endurance. The proper dosage of this should be 3.2g. We come in at 50% of that. B.A.R. tosses in 1g of Taurine. This is a sufficient dosage of the ingredient meant to improve overall strength output. We get Kre-Alkalyn creatine at 1g as well. Creatine helps with strength output. Creatine Monohydrate is typically dosed at 5g, while Kre-Alkalyn should be around 3g. We are a bit light here as well. Overall, the strength complex uses good ingredients, just a tad light on the dosages.

Let’s get into the energy boost next. Two versions of caffeine are used. Caffeine Anhydrous is dosed at 200mg. A good dosage in our opinion. Di-Caffeine Malate is dosed at 75mg. I like the use of two forms of caffeine as it gives you a nice long energy, versus a sudden rush and crash. B.A.R. will then toss in stimulants (we all love those). Synepherine is used at 50mg. This is a nice dosage of Synepherine as it should be dosed between 30-60mg. This is essentially like ephedra. It is a fat burning ingredient meant to improve energy. Lastly, 2mg of Yohimbine HCl is used. Another fat burning, energy producing ingredient. This is a good dosage of it. Anything higher can cause your heart to go crazy. Good energy complex. Not overly complicated, but solid.

Lastly, we get the focus area of the pre-workout. We start with 100mg of Alpha GPC. I love A-GPC. It is one of my favorite nootropics. However, I wish it was dosed more along the lines of 300mg. This will improve focus. Next we get 20mg of Noopept. Great dosage here. This was found in Dust Extreme and how I got to like it. It is a nootropic that will give you “laser like focus.” Lastly, Huperzine is used at 100mcg. This is a solid dosage of another cognitive enhancing ingredient.

B.A.R. tosses in 5mg of Coconut Powder as well, but this dosage is so insignificant it really isn’t needed.

Overall, a good profile. Effectiveness

(8.5/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]We’ve taken a lot of pre-workouts in our day. Just check out this site. Effectiveness can range across the board, and it can differ from person to person.

The best part about this pre-workout was the sharp focus it gave us. I know that is because the mix of stims, caffeine, noopept, Huperzine and Alpha GPC. I love a good focus pre-workout. Noopept was loved in Dust Extreme, and you hardly find it on the market anymore. I would grade the focus a 10 out of 10 because we love noopept.

Energy was solid as well. I like it when we can do under 300mg of caffeine but still get an energy burst through the stims like we get in Synepherine and Y0himbe. I would give energy a nice 8-9. You get a good rush right away, and the 75mg of Dicaffeine Malate helps prolong that energy throughout your lift.

Pump was good. I do like other pump additives like Glycerol Powder, but this has what you need. You get Citrulline Malate, Agmatine Sulfate and L-Arginine to provide a good pump. You won’t necessarily need a pump agent on this baby. I give pump an 8.

Strength and endurance were decent. I didn’t find myself getting overly tired, and it was a good long lift session each time out. I would give this a 7.

Honestly, one of the better pre-workouts out there in terms of effectiveness. It hits on all five pillars. Except you are about to go smash some heavy as weight in the gym. Country strong this could be called. This doesn’t taste exactly like tea, but it is still decent to the taste. We rate taste on how closely it matches the label and the overall taste, just a FYI.
