Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid which is commonly used for cognitive benefits, as well as stress reducing benefits.

Uses of Phosphatidylserine

Phosphatidylserine is a very underrated and underutilized supplement. PS is commonly used for nootropic purposes, and especially for stress purposes.

It also has a study showing it to be beneficial for increasing endurance in cyclists. What makes these studies more promising than many other ingredients out there is that the studies on PS have been done on humans.

As for nootropic purposes, PS has been shown to be beneficial for improving memory function. There are multiple studies showing PS to be beneficial, but they have been done on the elderly.

Interactions with Phosphatidylserine

You’ll usually see PS as a standalone, although you may be able to find it paired with ingredients such as Alpha-GPC, Huperzine A, L-Tyrosine, and Omega-3 supplements.

You may find PS paired with other stress reducing supplements such as L-Theanine, Rhodiola Rosea, and Ashwagandha. 

Side Effects of Phosphatidylserine

Side effects may include insomnia and upset stomach.

Recommended Phosphatidylserine Dosage

PS should be dosed around 400mg per day for cognition benefits. For cortisol reduction, 800mg per day has been shown to be effective. This dose may be split or taken all at once.
