Fenugreek

Fenugreek is an herb which has been promoted as a way for breastfeeding women to increase milk production. It is also commonly advertised as a libido enhancer, as well as being beneficial for blood sugar purposes.

Uses of Fenugreek

Fenugreek is an herb which is found in the Middle East and India.

You’ll commonly see Fenugreek promoted as a testosterone booster, however there is little evidence for this claim. One study has shown Fenugreek to increase libido in men. This same study showed that Fenugreek had no impact on testosterone levels. There is one study which actually showed that Fenugreek has potential to increase total testosterone levels. This may be the only one which suggested this outcome, as there is yet another study which was done on resistance trained men, and although Fenugreek was shown to lower DHT levels, there was no impact on testosterone.

For these reasons, while Fenugreek may be good for libido, using it as a testosterone booster is simply not a smart way to go.

While not really important to lifters, Fenugreek may be beneficial for women who want to increase their breast milk production according to one study.

Fenugreek may also be beneficial for blood sugar purposes, as it has been shown to be potentially beneficial for decreasing insulin resistance.
