Anabolic Warfare has made a lot of noise in 2022 with the announcement of their Project Muscle Series. Project Muscle contains many products formulated for a specific goal in mind. Whether it is bulking, cutting, cortisol management or hormonal balance, Anabolic Warfare addresses it with a product in this line.
Project Shred is a product within that series that was formulated to manage cortisol levels, regulate and manage estrogen conversion and hormone health. If a user can manage stress hormones it can help lead to fat loss. Many users on a "cutting" plan also would love to shed excess water which is something Project Shred addresses as well.
Anabolic Warfare Project Shred Supplement Facts
Project Shred from Anabolic Warfare is a unique formula featuring 30-servings per container. Some users may experience better benefits with 2x serving per day, which would turn this into a 15-day supply.
Project Shred starts with 300mg of White Button Mushroom Extract (Agarcus bisporus). Unlike some exotic mushrooms we’ve seen pop up in sports nutrition, Agarcus Bisporus is the most popular mushroom in the US. This is the commercial mushroom we see in grocery stores. Agarcus mushroom contains chemicals that might improve the body’s use of insulin and decrease insulin resistance. White Button Mushroom Extract has a big impact on gastrointestinal health, in a positive way. It may also boost the strength of your immune system. Healthy GI can lead to better digestion and thus lead to weight loss.
Diindolylmethane (DIM for short) is a molecule found in foods such as broccoli, kale, and cauliflower. It is commonly added to testosterone boosters and anti-estrogen products due to its aromatase inhibiting properties. DIM is dosed at 200mg in Project Shred. DIM has been a good ingredient used to support healthy estrogen levels. Studies at a level of 300mg of DIM proved to help regulate estrogen levels in those with thyroid issues. Studies on dosing have it safe up to 300mg per day, but was optimal at 200mg without adverse effects.
Indole-3-Carbinol, produced by the breakdown of the glucosinolate glucobrassicin, which can be found at relatively high levels in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, collard greens and kale, is dosed at 200mg. Studies increasingly indicate that dietary indole-3-carbinol (I3C) prevents the development of estrogen-enhanced cancers including breast, endometrial and cervical cancers. Study after study seemingly confirms the ingestion of I3C metabolizes. Studies have also shown that increasing the intake of vegetables of the cabbage family or taking I3C or DIM as a dietary supplement significantly increases the conversion of estrogen from cancer-producing forms to nontoxic breakdown products.
Buchu Extract (Agathosama betuulina) is dosed at 125mg. This is used as a “diuretic” which will help you shed water weight through the urinary system. We see other single ingredient supplement companies offer this at 100mg.
Dandelion Extract is dosed at 125mg. This has been shown to help in digestion and shed excess water weight. Studies have shown that dandelion root extract is an effective diuretic. Other supplements containing dandelion extract are dosed at 500mg. This may aid in ridding excess water, but you may need more than 125mg per day to do so.
Juniper Berry Extract, which has gained popularity in pre-workouts, is dosed at 125mg. Juniper Berry Extract has been used as a natural diuretic. It may also aid in GI health. There is potential it may help regulate blood sugar levels as well. As a stand-alone, it is recommended to take up to 500mg per serving. A product like a pre-workout on the market has it dosed at 150mg.
Bearberry Extract (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) comes in at 125mg. This is another diuretic used. In traditional medicine, Uva-Ursi may be used to help prevent UTI’s. Per Mount Sinai, when combined with Dandelion Root, it works more effectively. Most supplements selling this ingredient do to on the UTI idea, and are dosed quite a bit higher than 125mg, but those are stand-alone ingredients.
Acacetin is dosed at 60mg. This ingredient has been shown to suppress aromatase activity. Research also suggests that Acacetin relieved endothelial dysfunction, which non-obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) in which there are no heart artery blockages, but the large blood vessels on the heart’s surface constrict (narrow) instead of dilating (opening). Dosage varies, but our research suggests 25-50mg per day is sufficient.
Finally Resveratrol 20% is dosed at 50mg. This is found in a lot of red wines and has strong anti-inflammatory properties. Stand-alone supplements have this up to 250mg per serving.
Final Takeaway
This product may be good as a OTC diuretic and aid in estrogen regulation. There's not a lot of research that exists, if any, on the synergistic properties of several of these ingredients when used together, only as stand-alone. On the surface it may seem like some are under dosed, or you may need to increase your number of servings, but the combination with other ingredients may actually be very effective.
