Anabolic Warfare Meal Replacement Protein

Many of today's meal replacement powders contain low quality carbohydrates and dairy-based proteins. There was a large portion of the audience that was feeling left out, so Anabolic Warfare addressed that with their new Meal Replacement Protein they launched in three flavors: Strawberry Milkshake, Milk Chocolate and Blueberry Crumb Cake.

Meal replacement powders are not for everyone, but they do serve a purpose. There are two groups of people we see as perfect fits for a meal replacement powder.

Who Are Meal Replacement Powders For?

Why should you take a meal replacement powder? Well, most probably don't need to or shouldn't. We believe that your calories should come from real, whole foods. With that said, Anabolic Warfare's new meal replacement protein powder does come from whole foods. More on that in a bit. Then why take a meal replacement powder?

A Person Who Is Bulking

A common reason to consume a meal replacement protein/powder is when you're bulking. Speaking from experience, a bulking diet can be upwards of 4,000-5,000 calories - if not more. It becomes very hard to prepare that much food, or to continuously eat that much. A high quality meal replacement shake, like Anabolic Warfare's meal replacement powder, is a nice option as it gives users close to 500 calories per serving. It is much easier, at times, to drink your calories than to eat them.

Lifestyle Limits Meal Breaks

If your lifestyle limits your ability to stop and eat for 30 minutes, a meal replacement powder may be great for you. Think about the life of a registered nurse. They are on their feet for upwards of 12-hours per day with limited breaks. They might get to eat once, maybe twice in 12-hours. Most people are eating way more than that. A meal replacement powder is a solid option for them to pack and take to work so they can get adequate calories for energy for them to continue to be the best at what they do.

On-The-Go

On-the-go may be the #1 reason for a meal replacement powder. Most of you reading this have probably taken road trips before. It's not always convenient to pack your food. On the flip side of that, it is not always healthy to eat out at restaurants on the highway. Packing a meal replacement powder will get you calories you need without having to stop at a fast-food or an unhealthy restaurant.

Sure, there are many other reasons to use a meal replacement powder, but these are common reasons why people consume them.

Anabolic Warfare Meal Replacement Protein Ingredients

Anabolic Warfare’s Meal Replacement Protein powder is derived from real, whole foods. It is also dairy free. So what does that mean? It is important that we know what ingredients are used.

Anabolic Warfare Meal Replacement Protein IngredientsThe list of ingredients list out the ingredients by weight used in one serving of Anabolic Warfare’s Meal Replacement Protein. We are going to look at these from the three main macro groups: Carbohydrates, Fats and Protein.

Anabolic Warfare Meal Replacement Protein Carb Sources

Anabolic Warfare Meal Replacement Protein contains 66g carbs per serving. To most that may seem like a lot, but it is important to know where they come from. The carbohydrates in Anabolic Warfare’s Meal Replacement Protein comes from three main sources: whole grain oat flower, sweet potato powder and organic quinoa powder. As you can see, these are all whole food based carbohydrates. It’s not from cane sugar, or other insulin spiking carb sources.

Anabolic Warfare Meal Replacement Protein Fat Sources

Fats are extremely important in any one person’s diets, especially active people. Each serving of Anabolic Warfare’s Meal Replacement Protein powder contains 9g fat per serving. This is relatively low, which consumers will enjoy. The fats come from one main fat source: Coconut Oil. Coconut oil is a natural source of MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) which provide energy to be burned as fuel.

Protein is in the name, so it is very important to understand where you are getting your protein from. Protein is interesting because there are complete proteins and incomplete proteins. There are also PDCAAS (Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score) scores. PDCAAS is a method of evaluating the quality of a protein based on both the amino acid requirements of humans and their ability to digest it. Whey Protein has a score of 1 (as do eggs) while other protein sources may have a lesser value. That is not to take anything away from the quality of protein, it just means other sources of proteins may not have the same amino make-up of dairy-based proteins or it’s harder to digest.

Anabolic Warfare Meal Replacement Protein is a dairy-free powder. That means you won’t find whey in this powder. Instead, users are getting 38g or protein per serving from a blend of beef protein, pea protein, brown rice protein, fish collagen, chicken protein and egg protein. This combination of protein sources gives users a full amino acid profile making this is a complete protein source. These are clean and quality protein sources that may not have a PDCAAS score of 1, but collectively they will work well together and be great for those who cannot digest lactose (dairy).

Anabolic Warfare Meal Replacement Protein Additional Benefits

Outside of your three main macro groups, Anabolic Warfare helps users in several other areas. The first is digestibility. The powder includes the patent DigiSEB digestive enzymes. This will help users break down the fats, carbs and proteins in this formula.

Another positive is potential anti-fatigue benefits. Anabolic Warfare uses Reishi Mushroom in the formula. This mushroom is found a lot in new coffee blends that could possibly aid in reducing fatigue.

Joint health is another benefit that could be obtained from Anabolic Warfare’s Meal Replacement Protein powder. Turmeric is used in the making up of this powder. Turmeric has been used for years in joint formulas to aid with discomfort and inflammation.

Lastly, the formula also includes Coconut Water Powder which can help with hydration.

Anabolic Warfare Meal Replacement Protein Taste

A powder made up of beef, chicken, fish, etc sounds like it may taste awful. We don't blame you if this is your first thought. We had a chance to try each flavor.

Blueberry Crumb Cake: this is a really good blueberry flavor. It works well with the oat flour source as well. You do not taste any beef/chicken/fish/egg/etc. The taste you get is blueberry forward.

Chocolate: this is your standard chocolate. It is not overly sweet, but it does work with this formula. Much like blueberry crumb cake, you don't get the flavor of beef/chicken/fish.

Strawberry Shortcake: flavor not as strong as the blueberry in blueberry crumb cake, but still good. Like the other two, no bad taste from the beef/chicken/fish.

Anabolic Warfare Meal Replacement Protein Texture

If you've never had a meal replacement powder before just know it is more of a grainy texture due to the large amounts of oat flour being used. They are not big pieces, but fine particles, it just isn't the same as a whey protein isolate.

Final Takeaway

Overall this is a great MRE or meal replacement protein powder. The sources for carbs, fats and protein are solid, given it is dairy-free. You also get the added benefits of DigiSEB for digestive support, which is key with nearly 500 calories being consumed quickly in a drink format. This is available now on their website (link above) or select stores across the nation.
