What I mean by that is that they’ve been around for quite some time producing quality supplements. Nutrex has created sub-lines under their main brand to target different consumers. Amino Charger +Energy falls into their #UltraFit series.

Amino Charger +Energy is Nutrex’s take on the caffeine infused amino market, made famous by ON Amino Energy. Unlike ON, Nutrex discloses several of their ingredients giving us 100mg of Caffeine along with 6g of 2:1:1 BCAA, toss in some Tauring and TeaCrine and you have yourself a product. Overall, this is a decent energized amino product featuring a solid clinically backed ratio of BCAAs with the extra pick-me-up you’re looking for.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/9raM1pvoNxg”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” bg_color=”#2e2e2e” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”padding-5-percent” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_color_hover=”#ffffff” background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”medium_depth” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_color=”#000000″ column_border_style=”solid”][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-arrow-right” color=”Accent-Color”]

Why You Should Trust Our Reviews

[/text-with-icon][fancy-ul icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-ok” color=”Accent-Color” alignment=”left”]
  • EXPERT REVIEW PANEL
Our review panel is made up of individuals with many years of experience in the sports nutrition industry, dating back to the early 2000’s. Their tenure gives them knowledge on brands, supplements, ingredients, dosages and more.
  • FULL CONTAINER REVIEWS
Unlike the majority of “review” sites on the internet, Fitness Informant reviews every supplement on a full-container basis. What does this mean? It means that a review is not written or recorded until the last serving of that product has been finished. We’ve all had products that were great for the first couple of days, but then lost their effectiveness shortly after. We want to ensure you are getting a full review based on a full product.
  • INGREDIENT EDUCATION
We breakdown each ingredient in our reviews to educate you on exactly what the ingredients do, and what is the proper dosage of each ingredient to effectively do what they are intended to do.
  • 100% HONEST – NO B.S. REVIEWS
Our number #1 priority is to inform you proper supplement selection through honest reviews. The majority of “review” sites on the internet will push you to buy a certain product based on the commissions they received. Not us. We want you to purchase the highest quality supplements at the best value. We put your health and wellness first. To achieve your goals we want you to use only the best supplements that you can afford. We do this by being honest.

We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the amount of aminos used, as well as the kind of aminos, the ratio and other ingredients involved in the making of this BCAA powder.

We then look at effectiveness. A high BCAA product will be effective. This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Fruit Punch.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of BCAA products on the market; both with and without caffeine.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Ingredients Profile

(7/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Amino Charger +Energy uses a combination of fully disclosed and proprietary blends on their label. We are a fan of the first, not-so-much on the latter.

We start with 6g of 2:1:1 ratio BCAA. The 2:1:1 ratio is the optimal ratio to speed up muscle protein synthesis. This is a hefty dosage of BCAAs in an energized product. The typical 200lb person would consumer 15-20g per day. You get 1/3 of that with a single dose of Amino Charger +Energy. My wish here is that these were fermented BCAAs. Why? I like to know the source of where my aminos come from. The chemical structure of these BCAAs are no different than the fermented version.

We also get 40mg of Magnesium (TRAACS system). What is special about this is that it helps with recovery and hydration.

Now we get into the prop blend of the product. We get 2g of Taurine (strength and power output), Magnesium Glycinate Gluatmine Chelate (anti-catabolism and human growth hormone secretion), N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine (cognitive enhancer), Caffeine Citrate (yielding 100mg of Caffeine) and TeaCrine. I really like the selection of ingredients here, but outside of caffeine at 100mg, I am not sure what I am getting. Taurine and Tyrosine can be dosed from 1-2g. We get 2g total here. The takeaway is that this is nice to see these ingredients, it would be even better to see them fully disclosed.

Overall, not a bad profile, some updates here and there and you’d have yourself a gold standard.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][image_with_animation image_url=”5216″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Effectiveness

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]In reality, there are two things you are looking for in an energized amino product. The first is improved muscle recovery from BCAAs. Candidly, I used other amino products during intra-workout as well as this product. At 6g of 2:1:1 BCAA, a simple serving of this should help alleviate DOMS. I can say that my muscle soreness was almost non-existent.

The second reason to use this product is the pick-me-up from the 100mg of Caffeine. Truthfully, I hate coffee. I would use this as my energizer throughout my workdays. I would take it directly after my workout to help prevent crash. It worked well with that. It also provided the slight pick-me-up I needed when days get long. At 100mg of Caffeine, this is dosed similarly to a cup of coffee.

Overall, it does what it claims in terms of recovery and energy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Taste

Fruit Punch: (7/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Amino Charger +Energy only came in one flavor at the time of this review, Fruit Punch. Did it taste like Fruit Punch? A little, yes. I have had other powders that are better versions of a fruit punch flavor. This also had a slight off taste too it. It wasn’t unbearable. You can still definitely drink it.

In terms of best tasting, this won’t win any awards. I have had some amazingly tasting BCAA products, both with and without caffeine. Amino Charger +Energy’s taste was above average, but again, not the greatest in the world. I am hoping we see more flavors be released on this.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Mixability

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]One serving of Amino Charger +Energy was just shy of 11g. I would mix it in 20oz of water and drink it slowly, not chug like a pre-workout. Mixability was fine. You can expect to see some particles floating and residue settle at the bottom since BCAAs are not soluble in water. This is not a deterrent by any means.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Value

(6/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Amino Charger +Energy has some fierce competition out there at this time. One brand we reviewed was EVL BCAA Energy which retails for $20 for a 5g BCAA serving – 30-servings, which comes in $10 less than Amino Charger +Energy. EVL also has a lot more flavor options and tastes better.

With that said, Amino Charger +Energy does have some ingredients that EVL doesn’t have (like TRAACS), but EVL also discloses their label (500mg Taurine, etc).

Once this gets into retailers I would anticipate this price going down. Until then, the value isn’t a huge one for the consumer with the other options out there.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_custom_heading text=”Available at these Fitness Informant approved retailers:” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:22px|text_align:center” google_fonts=”font_family:Lato%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:900%20bold%20regular%3A900%3Anormal” link=”|||” el_id=”table”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_style=”solid”][tabbed_section style=”default” alignment=”left”][tab title=”30-SERVINGS” id=”1509114502646-0d67c-c5b0″ tab_id=”1510193254965-0″][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” top_padding=”10″ bottom_padding=”10″ text_align=”left” css=”.vc_custom_1509116724210{background-color: #2e2e2e !important;}”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]  PRICE COMPARISON:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/tab][/tabbed_section][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/4″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]Amazon Logo[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/4″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

The Top Protein Powders of 2019: Our Tested No B.S. Reviews

Top Rated Protein Powders
Top Rated Protein Powders

Not all protein powders are created equally. In fact, there is a huge difference between the various types of protein powders available, and the quality of protein used in each powder.

There is protein powder derived from dairy (i.e. Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Casein Protein, etc), from vegan sources (Pea Protein, Hemp Protein) and from animal sources (Beef Protein and Dried Egg Whites). The list is extensive and it is exhaustive.

Are you curious to know which type of protein powder supplement is right for you?

Plenty of clever label techniques are used by supplement manufactures to trick you into believing their protein is superior to others. That’s where we come in.

We remove the BS the supplement companies feed you, and tell you what they don’t want you to know.

We guarantee that any protein powder you find on our top five rated protein powders list is worth your money. Don’t be fooled by end caps at the grocery store or a fancy package.

Our Protein Powder Testing Process for this Guide

We examined five different areas of each protein powder when we compiled our rankings:

  • Ingredients Profile
  • Effectiveness
  • Taste
  • check
    Mixability
  • check
    Value

Ingredients Profile

During the ingredient profile review we look at two very important things. The first, the ingredients being used in the protein powder. We inspect what type of protein powder(s) are being used. We also look at the “other” ingredients that aid in digestion, absorption and flavor. Some protein powders have a lot of sucralose for sweetener, while other limit the use of “filler” ingredients.

The other area we look at are the macros. We look at how much of the serving is actually protein (example: 40g serving size with 20g of protein = 62.5% protein per serving), and how much of the serving is fats and carbs. We want to ensure that you are getting a macro friendly protein powder that will aid in fat loss and muscle gains.

Effectiveness

Effectiveness is an extension of ingredient profile. If the product uses high quality protein sources at acceptable amounts, then typically the product should be effective. Everyone is different in terms of how they react to various protein sources and amounts. We have tried and tested each of these products throughout the full duration of their container to ensure these products are effective over their life.

Taste

We review taste on two different components. First, how close does the protein powder taste to the actual name printed on the label. For example, does Birthday Cake actually taste like Birthday Cake. Second, we review it on overall taste (in our opinion) versus others in the same flavor category.

Mixability

Mixability refers to how well does the product mix in 8-12oz of water (one serving). The testing process uses here is a generic Blender Bottle with the chrome spiral ball. We use regular tap water with no ice.

Value

Value is a combination of ingredient profile, effectiveness, taste, mixability and cost. We do not just look at the price tag like a lot of others do. If a product is priced at a premium, we inform you if it is worth the premium price or not based on all the categories. We look at the overall picture of the protein powder, and how it compares to other protein powders on the market.

Please Note: Many of the top 10 protein powder lists you find online are written by content writers with no in-gym or supplement experience who are paid by the word count to write an article for a website trying to generate money.

These lists are influenced by brands who pay for placement. These lists contain protein powders that are, for the lack of a better word, garbage.

The following products on our best of list were used by the author of this article. He used the protein powders throughout the duration of a full container. Sample packs were not used in determining the rankings of the following best protein powders.

Stop relying on faulty information that is influenced by outside writers and money. This list is the real deal and we will continue to update it into the year 2019 and beyond. Here at Fitness Informant, we don’t steer you wrong. Be Informed. Live Fit.

#2 VMI Sports Protolyte

9.5 out of 10

Protolyte bottle

The Highlights:

  • 23g high quality WPI
  • Best tasting
  • Low sodium (40mg)
  • Low fat <1g
  • Low carbs 1g

Protolyte from VMI Sports is not only a high quality whey protein isolate powder, it’s also the best tasting whey protein powder we’ve ever tried. Protolyte also uses a 100% transparent label making it easy for us to tell exactly what we are getting.

Protolyte tastes amazing. We’ve already said that. In fact, it’s the best tasting whey protein powder we’ve tried. It doesn’t matter what kind if protein powder it is (within whey), this reigns supreme in terms of taste. The one downfall, there’s only three flavors available. Each flavor is amazing. But if a company can make this taste so good, we’d like to see more flavors.

Protolyte is only available in 2lb containers. There is nothing wrong with that, but typically with a 4/5lb container you can save a few dollars by buying more. At 2lb containers, however, you can buy one of each flavor and fall in love with the taste.

Protolyte does use 23g of high quality whey protein isolate. Each serving size is 30g which means each serving contains 77% protein. Each servings contains less than 1g of fat and 1g of carbs. A very macro friendly protein powder.

Overall, this is a fantastic whey protein isolate that reigns supreme in the taste category. If you’re OK paying a premium for a high quality protein powder then this is worth it!

Who Makes It?

VMI Sports is a quality company owned by industry insiders who’ve been at thsi for a long time. A majority of their products are honored by various awards, or nominated, by many online businesses.

VMI Sports also manufactures pre-workouts, muscle builders, aminos, pump products, mass gainers and more.

#3 Kaged Muscle Kasein

9.5 out of 10

Kaged Muscle Kasein

The Highlights:

  • Best casein protein powder
  • Recovery while you sleep
  • MCT Oils for fat loss
  • Great taste
  • Awesome value

Kasein by Kaged Muscle Supplements is the highest rated casein protein powder on our list. Kasein uses 100% Micellar Casein Isolate. What does that mean? It means it is the highest quality casein powder money can buy. This is the best casein powder on the market.

Kasein uses the slow digesting form of protein in casein. It goes through a filtration process to turn Kasein into a Micellar Casein Isolate. This protein powder will continue to feed you over several hours versus the quick absorption you get from a whey protein powder.

Kasein could be ranked #1 or #2, but because it is a casein, and more people need whey than casein, we had to put it at #3. However, if you’re looking for a casein protein powder, you need to stop right here and get this.

Kasein uses 25g of micellar casein isolate. Each serving size is 39g meaning you get 64% protein per serving. There is 7g of carbs and 2.5g of fat. This will be typical with a casein protein. Kasein also contains Coconut Oil Powder, which contains MCT Oils which are heart healthy and promote fat loss. It’s also sweetened with Stevia.

This protein is best when blended with a whey protein powder post-workout or taken alone right before bed.

Who Makes It?

Kaged Muscle Supplements is owned by Kris Gethin who participated in our Expert Roundtable. Kris Gethin is very knowledgable in the industry and practices what he preaches. He also employs what some call the #1 formulator in the industry who formulated Jym Supplements. Kaged Muscle has a commitment to high quality ingredients, scientifically backed dosages and your satisfaction guaranteed.

What's In It?

One serving contains:

  • 25g Micellar Casein Isolate – highest quality casein protein powder available for slow digestion, optimal absorption to ensure you are achieving your gains throughout the day
  • 7g of Carbs – this is higher than a whey protein, but it will be. There are going to be more carbs in a casein than a whey
  • Coconut Oil Powder – MCT oils help with fat loss
  • Stevia – sweetened with Stevia
  • Kaged Muscle Kasein label

    Bottom Line:

Kasein is the highest quality casein protein powder on the market. There is no reason to use any other casein protein powder as nothing, at this point, is superior to Kasein by Kaged Muscle.

If your diet or workout regime requires you to feed your body while you sleep, or you like to mix casein with whey, you need to buy yourself Kasein. You won’t regret it. That’s a Fitness Informant guarantee!

The only downfall to Zero Carb SRO is the flavor selection. There are only three flavors to choose from. BUT with that being said, they are delicious.

Why You Need to Supplement with Protein Powder

In this day and age, with overly processed foods being the bulk of the human diet, it is imperative that we supplement with protein powder. That’s just for the sedentary people in this world. If you’re a fitness addict or a casual gym goer, you need protein powder more than anyone else to help with your progressive.

The best protein powders can provide you with:

    • Increased Muscle Size
Individual muscle cells only grow during protein synthesis windows. Consuming a protein powder post-workout helps increase protein synthesis which helps increase muscle size.
    • Improve Recovery
Consuming protein powder post-workout not only increases protein synthesis, but it helps repair your muscles quicker, which will speed up your recovery.
    • Reduce Chance of Injury
Intense exercise recovers proper recovery. Protein powders help improve protein synthesis which helps aid in the recovery process. By improving recovery time, it prevents overtraining which can lead to injury.
    • Accelerate Fat Loss
Protein powders help increase muscle size, which burns more calories. Protein powders also help increase metabolism, which also aids in weight and fat loss.
    • Craving Control
Protein powders can contain up to 25g of protein per serving. That alone is 100 calories just in protein. When you have a craving for junk food, a delicious protein shake can curb those cravings and help you on your healthy path of life.

What Should You Look for in a Protein Powder?

Like we mentioned earlier, not all protein powders are created equal. In fact, there are so many variations of protein powders, it is important to know which is the best for you.

Some protein powder supplement facts have multiple form of protein being used. The typical consumer will think that is a wonderful thing and automatically assume what they are buying is quality. The supplement manufacturer, however, knows that this is “label dressing” to trick the consumer into paying a premium price for a mediocre to garbage product.

The following points explain the various forms of protein powders available on the market. We will give a synopsis of each. We will also look at protein powders based on your goals, and what you should be looking for.

    Whey Protein Concentrate

Whey protein concentrate powders are a popular choice among the fitness community because of it’s muscle building properties, health promoting profile and, maybe the most important attribute, it’s affordable cost. A high quality WPC can contain roughly 70-80% protein. However, the FDA allows companies to to use as low as 34% protein to be considered a whey protein concentrate. On a per gram basis it contains less protein than whey protein isolate, but it contains many of those subfraction proteins we talked about earlier that WPI remove during the filtration process.

Whey protein concentration does not have to go through the advanced filtration process that isolates go through thus making it more cost-effective to produce.  An important thing to note is that because it does not go through this filtration process that WPI go through the WPC contains more of these health promoting subfraction proteins in them.  Many people choose a concentration as an everyday protein because of these attributes that assist in other forms of health outside of muscle building.

Whey protein concentrate does contain more fat, carbohydrates, sodium and lactose than WPI. This is because the WPC does not go through any advanced filtration process to remove any of these.  If you are not lactose intolerant, not worried about the extra fats and carbs than a WPC is a good choice as it is more affordable.

    Whey Protein Isolate

Whey protein isolate is a form of whey protein that goes through an additional filtration process that WPC does not go through making it a purer protein powered.  Various filtration processes are available to create a WPI but the most popular are cross flow micro filtration, ion exchange, ultra filtration, micro filtration, etc.  Long story short, each of these filtration processes can remove more or less of those other sub-fractions of proteins we find in a WPC.

A typical WPI contains 90-96% protein compared to WPC 70-80%. This right here makes it an attractive protein source for those in the fitness community because they want to know they are getting the max protein for their dollar. A WPI also contains less fat, carbohydrates, sodium and lactose than a WPC.

Whey protein isolate is also more rapidly absorbed by your body than a WPC. This leads to an increase in insulin production by your body. There are no real-world studies that I can find that leads to saying this is better or worse post-workout. However, the body needs insulin to product muscle. Rises in insulin at the wrong time can turn into body fat. Rises in insulin after a workout due to the rapid absorption of WPI could be a benefit for those looking to increase muscle mass.

    Whey Protein Hydrolysate

Whey protein hydrolysate is going to be the highest form of whey protein available. It will also be the most expensive protein available. A whey protein concentrate or whey protein isolate can be hydrolyzed.

The difference in whey protein hydrolysate is that it is broken down even further (whey protein concentrate and isolate are already fast digesting proteins) breaking apart the amino bonds making a hydrolysate protein powder digest and absorb even faster than an isolate.

    Casein Protein

Casein protein is known as the slow-digesting protein powder. There is more of an abundance of casein protein powder when protein powders are made. They remove the whey and what is left is casein (approximately 80% of the dairy source contains casein versus 20% whey).

Casein proteins are great when you do not need the rapid absorption of a protein powder. In fact, your body can only utilize a certain amount of protein in a time period. A lot of bodybuilders and fitness gurus like to use a combination of whey protein and casein so they get the quick absorption of the whey, and then the slow digesting protein from the casein.

Casein is a popular choice before bedtime. Most of us are getting 6-9 hours of sleep a night. That is a long time without feeding the machine. Casein protein continues to feed you while you sleep.

Casein protein is also available as an isolate.

    Milk Protein Concentrate/Isolate

Milk protein is protein powder containing both whey and casein. Under the casein protein section we indicated that 80% of the protein derived from the dairy source is casein, while 20% is whey. Instead of separating the two forms of protein, they just leave them as-is.

Milk protein is used in a lot of protein bars. It is also available as a source of protein in protein powders. This is a cheaper protein due to the fact that they do not have to separate out the casein from the whey. Just because it is less expensive, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad quality. Milk proteins can be beneficial depending on your goals.

    Beef Protein

Many people have issues with lactose, this making whey protein concentrate, and some isolates, undrinkable for them. Beef protein is an option for those that cannot work with lactose.

Beef protein is exactly how it sounds, protein derived from cattle. There are several brands of beef protein available on the market. These typically won’t rank in anyone’s top five rated protein powders, due to whey protein being superior in studies, but it is important you know that they exist.

    Vegan Proteins

The market for vegan friendly products has grown tremendously. In fact, this is a huge profit opportunity for supplement manufactures.

Vegas proteins are derived from a vegan/vegetable source. The most common are pea protein and hemp protein. It is important, that if you follow a vegan lifestyle, that you supplement with a protein powder. These vegan protein powders are a great choice.

    For Muscle Gains

When looking for the right protein powder to support your muscle gains, you want to make sure you are getting a high quality protein. This is best found in a whey protein powder.

You want to ensure that you are getting adequate protein to help with protein synthesis, muscle recovery, repair and regrowth. You will want to look for either a whey protein concentrate that is close to 80% quality, or a whey protein isolate which is above 90%.

    For Weight Loss

A high quality protein powder is going to help with weight and fat loss. Protein powders contain a high ratio of proteins compared to fats and carbs. This is important because protein powders increase protein synthesis which increases muscle gains which burns more fat.

Protein is also broken down more quickly than fats. While it can curb your cravings for sweets, it also aids in fat loss by making you feel full with the macros you need and without the macros you don’t need.

You want to look for a protein powder that is high in protein content and low in carbs, fats and sodium. These are the best protein powders for weight loss.

    RedCon1 MRE Lite Review

    RedCon1 MRE Lite Full Review

MRE Lite from RedCon1 could more-or-less be called a whey protein alternative. This isn’t a bad thing. With 24g of protein per serving from beef, salmon, chicken, egg, rice and pea, you are getting a nice alternative to whey. For those of us trying to get away from whey, this is a good choice. The price is going to be higher than your traditional 2lb tub, but you’re getting whole food sources as your protein. I would not go as far as calling this a MRE Lite, but a whey alternative. A great investment for those of you looking for that.

Roadmap Limited Run from NTel Nutra is their pump enhancing supplement. This is a nice additive to any pre-workout to improve your pumps in the gym. A proprietary blend is used causing us to raise our eyebrows since this is a brand that typically does full disclosure. The product seems to work when added to a pre-workout powder, but not knowing the guts of this really hurts the overall score.

We were able to test out the following flavors: Grape-Ade.

Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of BCAA products on the market; both with and without caffeine.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

    Ingredients Profile

(9/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Reconstruct is not only an amino product, it also has ingredients like Glutamine, Taurine and Citrates that aid in hydration. That’s why we’re a big advocate of taking this product intraworkout.

You can elect to go with one scoop to make this unit a 40-serving unit, or two scoops turning it into a 20-serving container. We will focus on one scoop for this review.

One serving contains 5g of 2:1:1 ratio InstaAminos. This is the clinically backed ratio of BCAAs to aid with muscle recovery and reducing lactic acid build up. InstaAminos are intended to be absorbed quicker than other forms of aminos. The area in which Reconstruct isn’t clear, and thus they take a hit on their score, is whether or not these are fermented aminos. Compound Solutions, the maker of InstaAminos, offers both, but the label doesn’t state vegan.

You’re also going to get 2.5g of Glutamine and 250mg of Sustamine Glutamine. This aids with digestion, stomach health and some studies state it helps aid in recovery, although many recent studies indicate it does more for gut health. This is a decent dosage of Glutamine in an intra/post workout.

Clinical Labs tosses in 1g of L-Carnitine. This aids in fat loss by transporting fatty acids in the body to be burned off as fuel. This is a really good dose for one serving. We also get 1g of Taurine, which aids in strength output. Taurine can be dosed from 1-2g. We are a fan of this.

Lastly, you are getting your electrolyte/hydration mix of Magnisium Citrate, Potassium Gluconate, Sodium Chloride and Calcium Citrate for a total of 250mg. A nice addition to an already good intra workout profile.

    Overall, this is really good. The only thing lacking is the word fermented or vegan. Solid recovery formula.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][image_with_animation image_url=”5133″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

    Effectiveness

(9/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Unlike pre-workouts, you typically cannot tell if an intra-workout is effective. This is a direct extension of the ingredient profile.

You’ve already read how well we think of this profile. Since they use a 2:1:1 BCAA ratio at a serving of 5g (10g if you use 2 scoops) this becomes an effective amino product. But it’s so much more. With the addition of Glutamine, Taurine, Carnitine and the electrolytes, you get an all-in-one recovery drink that is effective at aiding in recovery, strength output, energy production and hydration.

    Taste

Grape-Ade: (10/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]I am not a fan of grape. So to receive a perfect score in taste for a flavor I typically am not a fan of is saying a whole hell of a lot. Grape-Ade was a solid, great tasting flavor. It tasted just like you’d imagine a grape Gatorade tasting…and it was refreshing and crisp! No bad aftertaste at all (this is another reason to lead me to believe these are not fermented BCAAs).

    The taste is on point with the label, and I really enjoyed it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

    Mixability

    (9/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Reconstruct allows you to choose between one serving or two (two being two scoops). With one serving there is very little mixability issues. No clumping at all. There are only small particles that fall to the bottom, but much better than most. With two servings you do get more of this, but still not a lot (shockingly). Mixability is a strong-point for this intra workout.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

    Value

(7.5/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Hard to judge value at times when you look at a label and get to choose between one serving (40-servings) and two (20-servings) for over $40. Since the product is dosed efficiently and effectively, and it works, tastes great and mixes well, it is a value of a product. The issues I have are minor, with the biggest being that it doesn’t state fermented BCAAs. The other is you can look at the competitive set and find other BCAA products out there priced for less with more servings. With more studies coming out debunking Glutamine’s effect on recovery, this brings it into question. HOWEVER, there is still Taurine, Carnitine and the hydration component.

    With all that said, it’s worth the money. They nailed flavor and mixability while putting out a very nice formula.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_custom_heading text=”Available at these Fitness Informant approved retailers:” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:22px|text_align:center” google_fonts=”font_family:Lato%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:900%20bold%20regular%3A900%3Anormal” link=”|||” el_id=”table”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][tabbed_section style=”default” alignment=”left” spacing=”default” tab_color=”Accent-Color”][tab icon_family=”none” title=”40-SERVINGS” id=”1509114502646-0d67c-c5b0″ tab_id=”1510193254965-0″][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” top_padding=”10″ bottom_padding=”10″ text_align=”left” css=”.vc_custom_1509116724210{background-color: #2e2e2e !important;}”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]  PRICE COMPARISON:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/tab][/tabbed_section][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” width=”1/4″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

These have less carbs and more protein than the MyCookie from ProSupps. That makes it a better profile in the cookie category. The protein comes from a combination of whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate. We can dig that. There are a lot of ingredients on the deck.

There is soy protein in this, but that’s not unusual in the industry. What is unique is they add in Tumeric into the deck. Out of the remaining ingredients, nothing concerns us too much. It is a cookie, so you don’t want several a day, but be smart about it.

    The SINFIT MyCookie is one of the better profiles on the protein cookies we’ve seen.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][image_with_animation image_url=”5139″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

    Taste

Birthday Cake: (9/10) Chocolate Chip: (8/10) Peanut Butter: (8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]I mentioned earlier that these cookies tasted similar to their SINFIT bars. However, birthday cake is new. Birthday cake was my favorite flavor of the two. Chocolate is A LOT of chocolate. If you love chocolate you’ll absolutely love this bar. Peanut butter is the same thing as chocolate. If you like peanut butter, you’ll love this. I like both peanut butter and chocolate but I liked birthday the best of the three.

    Note that these cookies have a coating around the entire cookie. Some cookies have a drizzle (like MyCookie), but these are like protein bars, but cookie versions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

    Texture

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]I will say the one area on these bars that is not as good as others I have had is the texture. The texture is too much like a protein bar. They are bit more “dry” and tougher to chew. Looking at some of the protein cookies we’ve tried, they have texture like an actual cookie, more soft and moist. That is the one area on these that I would love to see improved.

    Overall the texture isn’t bad, it’s just not as cookie-like as others we’ve had.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

    Value

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]SINFIT Cookies retail for $25 for 10 cookies. This is higher than most protein bars. Protein bars will retail around $25 for 12 bars with 20g protein per bar and less carbs. However, this isn’t a protein bar, per se. They compete against the other cookies. The other cookies we’ve had also give more cookies (12) for roughly the same price. The other cookies don’t have the coating like these do. It is all a personal preference. If that coating is your thing, then you can get these babies and you won’t regret it.

    I think they are worth the spend of $25 because they are different and nice change to our protein snacks category we have today.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][heading]Available at these Fitness Informant approved retailers:[/heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_style=”solid”][tabbed_section style=”default” alignment=”left”][tab title=”1-BOX” id=”1509114502646-0d5a3-7611″ tab_id=”1509806930603-9″][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” top_padding=”10″ bottom_padding=”10″ text_align=”left” css=”.vc_custom_1509130110995{padding-top: 12px !important;padding-bottom: 12px !important;padding-left: 15px !important;background-color: #2e2e2e !important;}”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-tag” color=”Accent-Color”]FITNESS INFORMANT’S EXCLUSIVE “SINISTER LABS SINFIT COOKIE” DEALS[/text-with-icon][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/4″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]Suppz Logo[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/4″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

What does that mean? Quietly they are making some really top-notch products that aren’t gaining mainstream attention like they should. Hence why we are here. Core Extreme Nutrition prides itself on making cutting-edge, effective products.

    RX’D from Core Extreme Nutrition is a really decent pre-workout leveraging proven ingredients at effective dosages to provide one heck of a lift. They focus on clean ingredients – nothing out of the box (per se) that work well together. Overall, this is a really nice pre-workout, safe and effective, but it does come at a premium price.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/LJrdNLR9rwY” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” bg_color=”#2e2e2e” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”padding-5-percent” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_color_hover=”#ffffff” background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”medium_depth” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_color=”#000000″ column_border_style=”solid”][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-arrow-right” color=”Accent-Color”]

This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in the pre-workout, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.

We then look at effectiveness. An effective pre-workout will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages.  This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Bombscicle.

Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of pre-workout products on the market.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

    Ingredients Profile

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]In the age where there are so many pre-workouts on the market, you truly need to do something special to separate yourself. You can do this by providing effective dosages of common and not-so-common ingredients. RX’D does both.

We start with the clinically backed 6g dose of Citrulline Malate 2:1. If your Citrulline is 2:1 with Malate, the dosage is 6-8g. This helps with your muscle pump, which in-turn aids in recovery and growth. Then we get 2g of PeakO2. PeakO2 is from Compound Solutions. It is an expensive ingredient that has been proven to enhance performance through enhanced endurance and increased strength. This is the highest dose I have seen of this in a pre-workout on the market.

Beta Alanine is dosed at 2g. This is slightly lower than the clinically researched and backed 3.2g. Beta Alanine provides that tingly feeling, but it also contributes to improvements in your endurance and strength. Creatine HCl is also used at 2g. This is a typical dose of Creatine HCl (I see it around 3g sometimes), that aids in strength output. Betaine Anhydrous is dosed at 1.5g. Ideally we’d want this at 2.5g, but 1.5g is still acceptable. This aids in strength and power output. Taurine is the last ingredient used to help improve strength and it is dosed at 1g. Effective doses of Taurine range from 500mg to 2g.

Focus is a main point in pre-workouts. RX’D uses 300mg of Alpha GPC (yielding 150mg). I would like to see this at a full 300mg for A-GPC, but it is still a nice addition to improve “tunnel vision.” Caffeine, the ingredient you’ve been waiting for, is dosed at 250mg. An effective dose. We also get 125mg of Theacrine (yielding 75mg of TeaCrine). This is coupled well with caffeine. It acts much like it, except we don’t build a tolerance to it. This is around average for dosing given the caffeine amount.

Overall, a simple ingredient deck using one out of the box ingredient in PeakO2. (8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Some will argue that the most effective pre-workouts are stim-heavy. That is not the case. The most effective pre-workouts are the ones that use effective dosages of proven ingredients. RX’D does that.

FI had one of our product testers run this, and this was his direct feedback:

With working out at 4am, I always take my preworkout on an empty stomach. With in a few minutes I can feel it kicking it. You get that light face burning feel and light hand tingles. But after starting to workout that fade,s but you get great focus and energy. Most of my workouts last about an 1 1/2 hours and, even after I’m done I still feel like I have plenty of energy to go well into lunch time. Each workout I’m left with a feeling of my muscles feeling full; I feel stronger with each lifting session. Overall it’s a solid pre-workout from what I normally take.

    Solid feedback from a guy I see in the gym daily. He said it was one of the best he’s ever taken, and that’s a testament to the ingredient deck.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

    Taste

Bombscicle: (8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]The flavor on the container was Bombscicle. I think of the 4th of July popsicle when I think of that, don’t you? Here’s the feedback from the tester:

Honestly, it tasted just like Blue Raz. I’m not a huge fan on that flavor, but if I had to drink one I would choose this. To me, most Blue Raz flavors taste like cough medicine. This is actually enjoyable and drinkable.

    Overall, it was a good tasting pre-workout that would have received a 7, but they reformulated the flavor to improve the taste to an 8.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

    Mixability

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]This is a fairly large serving size of 17g. We’d expect this to mix more poorly than some of the lower serving sizes, but it did a really good job. Here’s your quote:

Mixing one scoop in 8oz of water and shaking for about 10-20 secs mixed it up pretty well. Every once in a while you would get some particles floating but nothing to make you feel like it was chalk in your mouth. I’ve had some pre-workouts where you shake it and it foams a lot. Once the foam settled your left with a ton of pre-workout you didn’t get. This did not do that. There was nothing left at the bottom of the shaker cup.

    To be expected is to have some particles floating. A good mixing pre-workout.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

    Value

    (8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]The going rate now days on pre-workouts is about $2 per serving (a 20-serving effective PWO can retail for $40-$45). Core Extreme Nutrition RX’D is 30-servings retailing for $50. Listen, this is a value for most. Some will see the $50 price tag and get sticker shock. You need to realize that this is a 30-serving, damn near fully effectively dosed pre-workout. If you want quality you have to pay for it, CEN RX’D is exactly that.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_custom_heading text=”Available at these Fitness Informant approved retailers:” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:22px|text_align:center” google_fonts=”font_family:Lato%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:900%20bold%20regular%3A900%3Anormal” link=”|||” el_id=”table”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_style=”solid”][tabbed_section style=”default” alignment=”left”][tab title=”30-SERVINGS” id=”1509114502646-00fc8-496c” tab_id=”1510512996012-3″][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” top_padding=”10″ bottom_padding=”10″ text_align=”left” css=”.vc_custom_1509116724210{background-color: #2e2e2e !important;}”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]  PRICE COMPARISON:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/4″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]Amazon Logo[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/4″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

    RedCon1 GI Juice Review

    RedCon1 GI Juice Full Review

GI Juice is RedCon1’s greens and digestive enzyme powder. This delicious powder contains 11.25g of greens, and less than 1g of digestive enzymes. Overall, this is one of the best tasting greens powders I have had, the profile deck is decent and the price can be reasonable, especially if you’re someone who doesn’t have a lot of fruits and greens in their diet.
