Killer Labz has unique product packaging for one, which at times, can be a determent to the actual product. This is not the case with Killer Labz, thankfully.

We got to test out Noxious, Killer Labz pump agent, and it was pretty solid. Four different pump enhancing ingredients makes this product effective at producing the pump you need to lead to the recovery you want. Overall, a solid pump product that does as advertised. For our top pump recommendations however, check out this guide.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/VTcJf5IQI18″ align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”padding-5-percent” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_color_hover=”#ffffff” background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”medium_depth” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_color=”#000000″ column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-arrow-right” color=”Accent-Color”]

Why You Should Trust Our Reviews

  • EXPERT REVIEW PANEL
Our review panel is made up of individuals with many years of experience in the sports nutrition industry, dating back to the early 2000’s. Their tenure gives them knowledge on brands, supplements, ingredients, dosages and more.
  • FULL CONTAINER REVIEWS
Unlike the majority of “review” sites on the internet, Fitness Informant reviews every supplement on a full-container basis. What does this mean? It means that a review is not written or recorded until the last serving of that product has been finished. We’ve all had products that were great for the first couple of days, but then lost their effectiveness shortly after. We want to ensure you are getting a full review based on a full product.
  • INGREDIENT EDUCATION
We breakdown each ingredient in our reviews to educate you on exactly what the ingredients do, and what is the proper dosage of each ingredient to effectively do what they are intended to do.
  • 100% HONEST – NO B.S. REVIEWS
Our number #1 priority is to inform you proper supplement selection through honest reviews. The majority of “review” sites on the internet will push you to buy a certain product based on the commissions they received. Not us. We want you to purchase the highest quality supplements at the best value. We put your health and wellness first. To achieve your goals we want you to use only the best supplements that you can afford. We do this by being honest.

We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in the pump supplement, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.

We then look at effectiveness. An effective pre-workout will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages.  This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Pineapple Mango Madness.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of pump products on the market.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

Ingredients Profile

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Noxious is the pump agent for Killer Labz. It is a simple product. It uses four ingredients to help enhance your pump.

We start with 3g of L-Citrulline. This is found in a lot of pre-workout powders. The clinical dosage is 3-5g of pure L-Citrulline…which makes this fall into the good range. L-Citrulline improves blood flow which leads to the pump. Then we get 2g of Glycerol Powder (ever heard of HydroMax?). This is one of my favorite pump ingredients. Glycerol Powder essentially turns your muscles into a sponge allowing your muscles to absorb more water. Next we get Agmatine Sulfate at 1g. This is the typical dosage. This allows you to trick your body’s pain receptors to get another rep. It also helps produce NO. L-Norvaline is used next at 125mg. I have actually seen this used higher in pre-workouts, but what it does is inhibits your body from shutting down NO production. Lastly, we get 50mg of Epimedium aka Horney Goat Weed which is used to enhance your sexual health and performance (improves blood flow).

Overall, these 5 ingredients do as advertised and provide a good pump. The ingredients are proven and at decent dosages.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][image_with_animation image_url=”5228″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

Effectiveness

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]What classifies a pump product as effective? Look in the damn mirror. You should look bigger. Being on Noxious, I was noticeably bigger. This is a great feeling. Even better than looking bigger, you actually recover faster with the increased blood in your muscles (this repairs tears).

This kicks in almost immediately at your first set. It is more noticeable with arms, chest or shoulders, but don’t neglect taking it on leg day.

You should get good blood flow from this as well as maintaining volume in your muscles with the Glycerol Powder.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

Taste

Pineapple Mango Madness: (8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Pineapple is the hottest trend in the UK, and it is still good to go in the states. A decent flavor. I like pineapple/orange/mango flavored powders so this wasn’t too bad. I have only had several other pineapple flavors and this was on-par with them. Not overly fantastic, but also not poor either. You can tell it’s pineapple, if that’s the main thing you’re looking for.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

Mixability

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]The serving size is rather small at 8g so mixability shouldn’t be an issue. You would get some floating particles in the water, and some settling at the bottom, but nothing a quick shake of the blender bottle couldn’t resolve. Will it fully dissolve in water? Probably not, but drink it fast enough and it is not an issue.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

Value

(8.5/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]For $37 you get $30 servings. This is seemingly a decent value for this category now. A lot of pump powders are going to be 20/30 servings for $40. This is dosed nicely and provides what you are looking for, a pump. Is it the best pump powder on the planet? No, but for the money it may be one of the better values out there. If you need a pump product and you’re on a budget, stretch it with Killer Labz Noxious.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_custom_heading text=”Available at these Fitness Informant approved retailers:” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:22px|text_align:center” google_fonts=”font_family:Lato%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:900%20bold%20regular%3A900%3Anormal” link=”|||” el_id=”table”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][tabbed_section style=”default” alignment=”left” spacing=”default” tab_color=”Accent-Color”][tab icon_family=”none” title=”30-SERVINGS” id=”1509114502646-02c8f-64ad” tab_id=”1523806820293-1″][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” top_padding=”10″ bottom_padding=”10″ text_align=”left” css=”.vc_custom_1509116724210{background-color: #2e2e2e !important;}”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]  PRICE COMPARISON:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/tab][/tabbed_section][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” width=”1/4″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]A1Supplements Logo[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” width=”1/4″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

Remember the ones that used to taste chalky? Yeah, now they are like eating a candy bar (and most of them actually are candy bars!) However, some companies decided to get creative and start making protein cookies. We’ve love that opportunity.

My Protein Bites Cookie Bites are taking advantage of that opportunity too. These aren’t another frosting covered cookie, no. These actually look like real cookies baked in the over – taste like it too! With 24g of protein per 3 cookies and limited fats, these are a nice healthy treat for you. Their protein sources are not as high quality as others we’ve seen, but we believe that’s a contributing factor to the great taste. The takeaway here is that these taste good, texture-wise are great, but you may take a small hit on ingredients used…and that is OK.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/Q2X6TH5605I” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” bg_color=”#2e2e2e” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”padding-5-percent” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_color_hover=”#ffffff” background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”medium_depth” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_color=”#000000″ column_border_style=”solid”][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-arrow-right” color=”Accent-Color”]

We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at quality of protein used in the protein bars and amount, macros and other ingredients involved in the making of this protein bar.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to try the following flavors: Birthday Cake, Chocolate Chip, Double Dutch Chocolate, Snickerdoodle, Red Velvet Cake, Lemon Drop, White Chocolate Macadamia and Oatmeal Raisin.

Texture is important in a protein bar selection. We review the texture as well. We discuss chalkiness, chewiness, softness and crunch.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, taste and texture in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of protein bars available on the market.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Ingredients Profile

(7/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]My Protein Bites Cookie Bites are unique in that they utilize protein from other sources before they get it from whey/dairy protein – or even plant protein. The protein blend consists of oat flour, non-fat milk powder, whey protein concentrate and brown rice flour. This is atypical in this industry. Typically your protein blend will be milk protein or whey concentrate/isolate. MPB decides to start with oat flour, which is not bad at all, just not as “high” quality as whey. You’re also going to find ingredients that you find in real cookies…like brown sugar (only 4g total and 2g of it being added per cookie). The cookies also use whole eggs, like mommy used too. Almond milk is also used.

The macros are the following per (3) cookies:

Calories: 270
Fats: 7.5g
Carbs: 30g (12g of sugar)
Protein: 24g

Carbs are a tad high, but they typically are in cookies. Especially cookies using oat flour as the first protein source.

Essentially what MPB did was take your traditional cookie recipe and replace the flour with their protein source, making these healthier versions of your traditional oven baked cookies.

Takeaways here are that these taste great because of the ingredients used, but sugars are a bit high for me and I would prefer higher quality protein sources, but these would NOT deter me from eating or buying these.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][image_with_animation image_url=”5258″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Taste

Birthday Cake: (8/10) Chocolate Chip: (8/10) Snickerdoodle: (8/10) Double Dutch Chocolate: (8/10) Red Velvet: (8/10) White Chocolate Macadamia: (8/10) Lemon Drop: (8/10) Oatmeal Raisin: (8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]I will be completely honest, I liked all 8 of the flavors I tried. As I mentioned in the profile section, the ingredients used make these cookies taste better than many on the market. Are these the best tasting cookies I have ever had in terms of protein cookies? Very close. I have other other “special” flavored cookies, but these gave me the most rounded home baked cookie experience.

The one thing that is apparent, at least to me, was that the flavors are too different from each other in terms of taste. They are all pretty similar. Thankfully they taste good, but I would like to see more distinguishing tastes between the flavors.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Texture

(9/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]If you think about fresh baked cookies you typically think of chewy and gooey. After the cookies cool down, they get a little “crispier.” That’s what these reminded me of. They were soft to eat, looked home baked, but not as soft as fresh baked. The first bite reminding me of day old cookies. This is a good thing. They are a tad dry making them feel a bit more “crispy” than fresh baked cookies. I would much rather have this than some chalky texture.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Value

(7/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]When thinking of value, you look at what else is out there in terms of protein snacks. Most of them are bars. MPB includes 8 packs of cookies (3 cookies per pack) for $25. If you look at protein bars, you typically get 12 for $20-$25 depending on the brand. Most of those protein bars are around 20g protein mark. With these, you get 24g, which is a bonus, but the protein isn’t from the same high quality sources that those 20g bars are.

Overall, the value comes from this being different and great tasting compared to a protein bar. Sure, you can get protein snacks cheaper and more of them if you wish, and there are other alternative cookies out there, but these really were some of my favorite in terms of taste and texture. If you can get these on-sale or with a coupon code, it’s money![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][heading]Available at these Fitness Informant approved retailers:[/heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_style=”solid”][tabbed_section style=”default” alignment=”left”][tab title=”1-BOX” id=”1509114502646-0d5a3-7611″ tab_id=”1509806930603-9″][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” top_padding=”10″ bottom_padding=”10″ text_align=”left” css=”.vc_custom_1509116724210{background-color: #2e2e2e !important;}”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]  PRICE COMPARISON:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/4″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]A1Supplements Logo[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/4″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in the pre-workout, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.

We were able to test out the following flavors: Orange Burst.

Mixability refers to how well the pre workout powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Ingredients Profile

(8.5/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]A really good pre-workout should cover the four bases of a pre-workout: endurance/strength, energy, pump and focus. Galvanize from Clinical Labs includes all areas in this pre-workout. We are reviewing the profile based on the 2-scoop serving size (20-servings).

We first start with our strength & power section. This includes 3.2g of CarnoSyn Beta Alanine. This is the clinical dosage. BA is used for strength outputs and prolonging endurance, but you may recognize it as the ingredient that makes you tingle. Next, you get 1.5g of Betaine Anhydrous. This is in the range of acceptable (1.5-2.5g) that helps with strength output.

We then move into the pump & blood flow area. We start with 6g of L-Citrulline Malate 2:1. The clinical dosage of this form is 6-8g. This means two parts Citrulline to one part Malic Acid. This helps improve blood flow. Nitrosigine is used next, a patent ingredient designed to improve NO production in the body. This is dosed at 1.5g – a high dosage of Nitrosigine. Agamatine Sulfate (AGmass) is used at 1g, which has been shown to inhibit pain receptors so you can keep pumping away, creating an epic pump. L-Norvaline is used at 200mg. L-Norvaline works by inhibiting arginase (shuts off body’s NO production), allowing you to achieve longer, stronger pumps that give more power and recovery ability.

Now we get into the energy section. We start with 225mg of Caffeine Anhydrous. Next, we get 200mg of DMHA, a solid dosage of an ingredient that is still technically legal as of this review. This is caffeine on steroids (as they say). Next, a secondary form of caffeine is used called Di-Caffeine Malate. This is a longer lasting caffeine designed to prevent crash and keep you working out longer. Lastly, Glavanize uses 50mg of Hordenine, a stim designed to burn fat and produce energy.

The last part is the focus section. We get N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine at 1g. This enhancing cognitive functionality. A good, acceptable dosage. Then we get L-Theanine at 100mg. This is a relaxation ingredient designed to enhance your mood. The dosage is good here too.

My only critique is I wish there was more focus on focus (pun intended). I love ingredients like Alpha GPC or Choline Bitartrate, but we don’t get enough of that in this pre-workout…this is the only thing keeping it from a perfect 10 here.

Great pre-workout profile. Effectiveness

(9/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]This was honestly one of the best pre-workouts I have used in a while for effectiveness. Maybe it was because I do really well with DMHA, and I missed it dearly. My energy production was at an all-time high. I wake up at 5am to hit the gym, and it always felt like I was motivated and ready to rock.

Pump was solid too. You don’t need a pump agent with this, but if you do, the pump will be that more epic!

I could workout for an hour and a half no problem. I would lift for 60 minutes followed by 30 minutes of cardio (stairmaster) with energy to spare.

The only downside was focus. I am a very focused guy, but I can tell when I am using a pre-workout with a concentration on focus, this wasn’t the case with Galvanize. Add in a little Alpha GPC, charge $5 more and you have yourself a perfect 10 pre-workout![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Taste

Orange Blast: (80/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]If you’ve ever read any of my reviews before, you know I love tropical flavors like orange. This is orange burst. It was really good. It isn’t the best orange flavor I had before, but it damn sure wasn’t the worst. It is a bit tart, but that kind of adds to the fun of it.

A reminder is that I used (2) scoops for my serving size, hence the tart-ness more-so than a single scoop (single scoop also would affect profile and effectiveness).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Mixability

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]A two-scoop serving was 17.2g. This mixed very well with water. I would even mix in pump powder at times and it still mixed well overall. A couple hard shakes and BOOM, ready to drink and get your ass to the gym to clang and bang.

I typically drink my PWO fast, so mixability isn’t a huge concern for me, but I can vouch that this mixed well.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Value

(9/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]This falls right-in-line with other effective pre-workouts. They are typically being priced around $2/serving. This comes in just a tad higher than that, but it is still using DMHA, which is key. For just over $40 you can get a unit of this and get 20 effective servings. With a coupon code, you might even get this under $40.

I am willing to pay the price if the pre-workout works, this one works and is worth the investment, no joke.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_custom_heading text=”Available at these Fitness Informant approved retailers:” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:22px|text_align:center” google_fonts=”font_family:Lato%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:900%20bold%20regular%3A900%3Anormal” link=”|||” el_id=”table”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_style=”solid”][tabbed_section style=”default” alignment=”left”][tab title=”40-SERVINGS” id=”1509114502646-0fc68-cf38″ tab_id=”1525120886103-6″][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” top_padding=”10″ bottom_padding=”10″ text_align=”left” css=”.vc_custom_1509130110995{padding-top: 12px !important;padding-bottom: 12px !important;padding-left: 15px !important;background-color: #2e2e2e !important;}”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/1″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-tag” color=”Accent-Color”]FITNESS INFORMANT’S EXCLUSIVE “CLINICAL LABS GALVANIZE” DEALS[/text-with-icon][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/4″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/4″ column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Why? The ease of taking it made sense to all of us. We didn’t want to spend time researching vitamins and minerals. Give us one pill or one packet that gave us what we needed. Now, today, we have a powder from Animal Pak that is the exact same thing.

The #1 gripe on Animal Pak multivitamin packs where that some of the pills were hard to swallow. That issue has been solved by putting the Animal Pak in the powdered form. Priced the same as the pills, the powder is a solid choice for you multivitamin users. You will sacrifice in mixability, this is the one area that Animal Pak fails, but it’s still easier than downing a packet of pills.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/xhwsYzAsLsU” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” bg_color=”#2e2e2e” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”padding-5-percent” column_padding_position=”all” background_color=”#efefef” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_color_hover=”#ffffff” background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”medium_depth” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”2px” column_border_color=”#000000″ column_border_style=”solid”][text-with-icon icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-arrow-right” color=”Accent-Color”]

This portion of the review looks at the ingredients used, amounts included and their intended purposes.

We then look at effectiveness. An effective greens powder should contain high quality ingredients at optimal dosages.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out Orange.

We then examine the mixability of the powder. We determine how well it mixes by using one serving in 8-12oz of water. We use a Blender Bottle to determine the results.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of greens available on the market.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Ingredients Profile

(9/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Animal Pak Powder is the same exact formula as the Animal Pak multivitamin packets. We’re not going to go into full detail on every vitamin and mineral in this, but we will give you a basic breakdown.

Each serving size is 17.63g (2-scoops). With each scoop, you are getting several things. First, you are getting your basic vitamins. Those include Vitamin C, D, E, B6 and B12 – all well over 100% of your daily value. You also get other things like Thiamin, Riboflavin, Folic Acid and Biotin, all over 100% of your daily value. Minerals like Zinc and Magnesium are dosed well enough to get over your DV as well.

Animal Pak Powder also includes an Amino Acid Complex consisting of 19 Amino Acids (EAAs and BCAAs). These are not dosed too high to provide muscle recovery like a 5g serving of BCAA, but still a very nice spectrum of Aminos.

You also get a Performance Complex. This includes a 3.27g prop blend of whey protein isolate, liver (yes, this was weird to see), beef protein isolate, eleutherococcus senticosus, hawthorne and milk thistle. I am not a fan of prop blends at all, but then again, this is essentially an “added” benefit to this multivitamin. Also included in that is Carnitine (fat loss), Choline Bitartrate (cognitive enhancing functions) and Inositol (keep fats from collecting in the body).

Antioxidants are included in the next complex. This consists of ALA, CoQ10, Grapeseed Extract, Lycopene, Lutein, Pine Bark Extract and Kelp. These attempt to keep us healthy and fight off any infections or diseases.

Lastly, a Digestive Enzyme Complex is included. This consists of 5 ingredients designed to help our digestive tracts.

Overall, a very nice profile for only a multivitamin. I know people out there will tell me it is better to build your own, and they are right, but for convenience purposes, this isn’t half bad.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][image_with_animation image_url=”5270″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Effectiveness

(9/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]For a multivitamin, it is hard to tell just how effective it can be. For this particular powder, you can choose between one scoop and two scoops. I choose to take two since I train at a high level. This will make the powder harder working for me, and thus more effective in my body. On non-training days, one scoop may be sufficient if you’re not depleting your body of the vitamins and minerals through exercise.

Overall, if you think the pills work fine for you, this will be just as good.

(Side note: being in a powder form may actually increase absorption making it more effective).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Taste

Orange: (8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]I am a fan of anything tropical, so orange was something right up my alley. You might think given all the vitamins and minerals in this powder it would taste weird and gross, but it doesn’t. It actually isn’t half bad. It is not as smooth of an orange taste as some BCAAs or pre-workouts, but you can definitely tell it is orange, and it is drinkable.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Mixability

(5/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Unfortunately, this is where we struggle with Animal Pak Powder. It has a tendency to want to transform back to it’s pill like form by clumping during mixing. I won’t say it is one big ball, not at all. However, chunks are noticeable in the mixture and you are always left with some after the liquid is gone. Extra liquid is typically required to finish the entire mixture.

If they could figure out the mixability issue, we’d be VERY stoked for this.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Value

(9/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Value really comes down to convenience (yes, it has this) and whether or not you can’t take pills. If you can’t swallow the big pills from the vitamin packs, then this has more value to you, right?

Overall, this retails for the same price as the pill form. It is under $30 for 44-scoops (22-servings). Given everything you get and the convenience, this is a valuable product. What I mean by that is that they’ve been around for quite some time producing quality supplements. Nutrex has created sub-lines under their main brand to target different consumers. Amino Charger +Energy falls into their #UltraFit series.

Amino Charger +Energy is Nutrex’s take on the caffeine infused amino market, made famous by ON Amino Energy. Unlike ON, Nutrex discloses several of their ingredients giving us 100mg of Caffeine along with 6g of 2:1:1 BCAA, toss in some Tauring and TeaCrine and you have yourself a product.

This portion of the review looks at the amount of aminos used, as well as the kind of aminos, the ratio and other ingredients involved in the making of this BCAA powder.

We then look at effectiveness. A high BCAA product will be effective. This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Fruit Punch.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of BCAA products on the market; both with and without caffeine.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Ingredients Profile

(7/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Amino Charger +Energy uses a combination of fully disclosed and proprietary blends on their label. We are a fan of the first, not-so-much on the latter.

We start with 6g of 2:1:1 ratio BCAA. The 2:1:1 ratio is the optimal ratio to speed up muscle protein synthesis. This is a hefty dosage of BCAAs in an energized product. The typical 200lb person would consumer 15-20g per day. You get 1/3 of that with a single dose of Amino Charger +Energy. My wish here is that these were fermented BCAAs. Why? I like to know the source of where my aminos come from. The chemical structure of these BCAAs are no different than the fermented version.

We also get 40mg of Magnesium (TRAACS system). What is special about this is that it helps with recovery and hydration.

Now we get into the prop blend of the product. We get 2g of Taurine (strength and power output), Magnesium Glycinate Gluatmine Chelate (anti-catabolism and human growth hormone secretion), N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine (cognitive enhancer), Caffeine Citrate (yielding 100mg of Caffeine) and TeaCrine. I really like the selection of ingredients here, but outside of caffeine at 100mg, I am not sure what I am getting. Taurine and Tyrosine can be dosed from 1-2g. We get 2g total here. The takeaway is that this is nice to see these ingredients, it would be even better to see them fully disclosed.

Overall, not a bad profile, some updates here and there and you’d have yourself a gold standard.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/2″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][image_with_animation image_url=”5216″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Effectiveness

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]In reality, there are two things you are looking for in an energized amino product. The first is improved muscle recovery from BCAAs. Candidly, I used other amino products during intra-workout as well as this product. At 6g of 2:1:1 BCAA, a simple serving of this should help alleviate DOMS. I can say that my muscle soreness was almost non-existent.

The second reason to use this product is the pick-me-up from the 100mg of Caffeine. Truthfully, I hate coffee. I would use this as my energizer throughout my workdays. I would take it directly after my workout to help prevent crash. It worked well with that. It also provided the slight pick-me-up I needed when days get long. At 100mg of Caffeine, this is dosed similarly to a cup of coffee.

Overall, it does what it claims in terms of recovery and energy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Taste

Fruit Punch: (7/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Amino Charger +Energy only came in one flavor at the time of this review, Fruit Punch. Did it taste like Fruit Punch? A little, yes. I have had other powders that are better versions of a fruit punch flavor. This also had a slight off taste too it. It wasn’t unbearable. You can still definitely drink it.

In terms of best tasting, this won’t win any awards. I have had some amazingly tasting BCAA products, both with and without caffeine. Amino Charger +Energy’s taste was above average, but again, not the greatest in the world. I am hoping we see more flavors be released on this.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Mixability

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]One serving of Amino Charger +Energy was just shy of 11g. I would mix it in 20oz of water and drink it slowly, not chug like a pre-workout. Mixability was fine. You can expect to see some particles floating and residue settle at the bottom since BCAAs are not soluble in water. This is not a deterrent by any means.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]

Value

(6/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]Amino Charger +Energy has some fierce competition out there at this time. One brand we reviewed was EVL BCAA Energy which retails for $20 for a 5g BCAA serving – 30-servings, which comes in $10 less than Amino Charger +Energy. EVL also has a lot more flavor options and tastes better.

With that said, Amino Charger +Energy does have some ingredients that EVL doesn’t have (like TRAACS), but EVL also discloses their label (500mg Taurine, etc).

The Top Protein Powders of 2019: Our Tested No B.S. Reviews

Top Rated Protein Powders
Top Rated Protein Powders

Not all protein powders are created equally. In fact, there is a huge difference between the various types of protein powders available, and the quality of protein used in each powder.

There is protein powder derived from dairy (i.e. Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Casein Protein, etc), from vegan sources (Pea Protein, Hemp Protein) and from animal sources (Beef Protein and Dried Egg Whites). The list is extensive and it is exhaustive.

Are you curious to know which type of protein powder supplement is right for you?

Plenty of clever label techniques are used by supplement manufactures to trick you into believing their protein is superior to others. That’s where we come in.

We remove the BS the supplement companies feed you, and tell you what they don’t want you to know.

We guarantee that any protein powder you find on our top five rated protein powders list is worth your money. Don’t be fooled by end caps at the grocery store or a fancy package.

Our Protein Powder Testing Process for this Guide

We examined five different areas of each protein powder when we compiled our rankings:

  • Ingredients Profile
  • Effectiveness
  • Taste
  • check
    Mixability
  • check
    Value

Ingredients Profile

During the ingredient profile review we look at two very important things. The first, the ingredients being used in the protein powder. We inspect what type of protein powder(s) are being used. We also look at the “other” ingredients that aid in digestion, absorption and flavor. Some protein powders have a lot of sucralose for sweetener, while other limit the use of “filler” ingredients.

The other area we look at are the macros. We look at how much of the serving is actually protein (example: 40g serving size with 20g of protein = 62.5% protein per serving), and how much of the serving is fats and carbs. We want to ensure that you are getting a macro friendly protein powder that will aid in fat loss and muscle gains.

Effectiveness

Effectiveness is an extension of ingredient profile. If the product uses high quality protein sources at acceptable amounts, then typically the product should be effective. Everyone is different in terms of how they react to various protein sources and amounts. We have tried and tested each of these products throughout the full duration of their container to ensure these products are effective over their life.

Taste

We review taste on two different components. First, how close does the protein powder taste to the actual name printed on the label. For example, does Birthday Cake actually taste like Birthday Cake. Second, we review it on overall taste (in our opinion) versus others in the same flavor category.

Mixability

Mixability refers to how well does the product mix in 8-12oz of water (one serving). The testing process uses here is a generic Blender Bottle with the chrome spiral ball. We use regular tap water with no ice.

Value

Value is a combination of ingredient profile, effectiveness, taste, mixability and cost. We do not just look at the price tag like a lot of others do. If a product is priced at a premium, we inform you if it is worth the premium price or not based on all the categories. We look at the overall picture of the protein powder, and how it compares to other protein powders on the market.

Please Note: Many of the top 10 protein powder lists you find online are written by content writers with no in-gym or supplement experience who are paid by the word count to write an article for a website trying to generate money.

These lists are influenced by brands who pay for placement. These lists contain protein powders that are, for the lack of a better word, garbage.

The following products on our best of list were used by the author of this article. He used the protein powders throughout the duration of a full container. Sample packs were not used in determining the rankings of the following best protein powders.

Stop relying on faulty information that is influenced by outside writers and money. This list is the real deal and we will continue to update it into the year 2019 and beyond. Here at Fitness Informant, we don’t steer you wrong. Be Informed. Live Fit.

NutraBio’s 100% Whey Protein Isolate won our 2017 Shield of Excellence Award for Best Protein Powder because of everything we just talked about. I have yet to find a protein powder to pass it. Some have come close, but none have exceeded.

#2 VMI Sports Protolyte

9.5 out of 10

Protolyte bottle

The Highlights:

  • 23g high quality WPI
  • Best tasting
  • Low sodium (40mg)
  • Low fat <1g
  • Low carbs 1g

Protolyte from VMI Sports is not only a high quality whey protein isolate powder, it’s also the best tasting whey protein powder we’ve ever tried. Protolyte also uses a 100% transparent label making it easy for us to tell exactly what we are getting.

Protolyte tastes amazing. We’ve already said that. In fact, it’s the best tasting whey protein powder we’ve tried. It doesn’t matter what kind if protein powder it is (within whey), this reigns supreme in terms of taste. The one downfall, there’s only three flavors available. Each flavor is amazing. But if a company can make this taste so good, we’d like to see more flavors.

Protolyte is only available in 2lb containers. There is nothing wrong with that, but typically with a 4/5lb container you can save a few dollars by buying more. At 2lb containers, however, you can buy one of each flavor and fall in love with the taste.

Protolyte does use 23g of high quality whey protein isolate. Each serving size is 30g which means each serving contains 77% protein. Each servings contains less than 1g of fat and 1g of carbs. A very macro friendly protein powder.

Overall, this is a fantastic whey protein isolate that reigns supreme in the taste category. If you’re OK paying a premium for a high quality protein powder then this is worth it!

Who Makes It?

VMI Sports is a quality company owned by industry insiders who’ve been at thsi for a long time. A majority of their products are honored by various awards, or nominated, by many online businesses.

VMI Sports also manufactures pre-workouts, muscle builders, aminos, pump products, mass gainers and more.

What's In It?

One serving contains:

  • <1 g Fat – low fats help promote weight loss and fat loss

#3 Kaged Muscle Kasein

9.5 out of 10

Kaged Muscle Kasein

The Highlights:

  • Best casein protein powder
  • Recovery while you sleep
  • MCT Oils for fat loss
  • Great taste
  • Awesome value

Kasein by Kaged Muscle Supplements is the highest rated casein protein powder on our list. Kasein uses 100% Micellar Casein Isolate. What does that mean? It means it is the highest quality casein powder money can buy. This is the best casein powder on the market.

Kasein uses the slow digesting form of protein in casein. It goes through a filtration process to turn Kasein into a Micellar Casein Isolate. This protein powder will continue to feed you over several hours versus the quick absorption you get from a whey protein powder.

Kasein could be ranked #1 or #2, but because it is a casein, and more people need whey than casein, we had to put it at #3. However, if you’re looking for a casein protein powder, you need to stop right here and get this.

Kasein uses 25g of micellar casein isolate. Each serving size is 39g meaning you get 64% protein per serving. There is 7g of carbs and 2.5g of fat. This will be typical with a casein protein. Kasein also contains Coconut Oil Powder, which contains MCT Oils which are heart healthy and promote fat loss. It’s also sweetened with Stevia.

This protein is best when blended with a whey protein powder post-workout or taken alone right before bed.

Who Makes It?

Kaged Muscle Supplements is owned by Kris Gethin who participated in our Expert Roundtable. Kris Gethin is very knowledgable in the industry and practices what he preaches. He also employs what some call the #1 formulator in the industry who formulated Jym Supplements. Kaged Muscle has a commitment to high quality ingredients, scientifically backed dosages and your satisfaction guaranteed.

What's In It?

One serving contains:

  • 25g Micellar Casein Isolate – highest quality casein protein powder available for slow digestion, optimal absorption to ensure you are achieving your gains throughout the day
  • 7g of Carbs – this is higher than a whey protein, but it will be. There are going to be more carbs in a casein than a whey
  • Coconut Oil Powder – MCT oils help with fat loss
  • Stevia – sweetened with Stevia
  • Kaged Muscle Kasein label

    Bottom Line:

Kasein is the highest quality casein protein powder on the market. There is no reason to use any other casein protein powder as nothing, at this point, is superior to Kasein by Kaged Muscle.

If your diet or workout regime requires you to feed your body while you sleep, or you like to mix casein with whey, you need to buy yourself Kasein. You won’t regret it. That’s a Fitness Informant guarantee!

    The Highlights:

    • Ingredient profile

Spartan Whey from Sparta Nutrition is the company’s first protein powder and they absolutely nailed it! Spartan Whey is a protein blend, but not one hidden in the “blend,” they fully disclose their amounts and sources.

You get the fast absorbing WPI, then you follow it by the slower, but reliable protein WPC. After that, you feed your system with the Casein protein. Amazing!

They continue to make progress in the industry becoming one of the fastest growing supplement companies out there!

    • 0g carbs

Why You Need to Supplement with Protein Powder

In this day and age, with overly processed foods being the bulk of the human diet, it is imperative that we supplement with protein powder. That’s just for the sedentary people in this world. If you’re a fitness addict or a casual gym goer, you need protein powder more than anyone else to help with your progressive.

The best protein powders can provide you with:

    • Increased Muscle Size
Individual muscle cells only grow during protein synthesis windows. Consuming a protein powder post-workout helps increase protein synthesis which helps increase muscle size.
    • Improve Recovery
Consuming protein powder post-workout not only increases protein synthesis, but it helps repair your muscles quicker, which will speed up your recovery.
    • Reduce Chance of Injury
Intense exercise recovers proper recovery. Protein powders help improve protein synthesis which helps aid in the recovery process. By improving recovery time, it prevents overtraining which can lead to injury.
    • Accelerate Fat Loss
Protein powders help increase muscle size, which burns more calories. Protein powders also help increase metabolism, which also aids in weight and fat loss.
    • Craving Control
Protein powders can contain up to 25g of protein per serving. That alone is 100 calories just in protein. When you have a craving for junk food, a delicious protein shake can curb those cravings and help you on your healthy path of life.

What Should You Look for in a Protein Powder?

Like we mentioned earlier, not all protein powders are created equal. In fact, there are so many variations of protein powders, it is important to know which is the best for you.

Some protein powder supplement facts have multiple form of protein being used. The typical consumer will think that is a wonderful thing and automatically assume what they are buying is quality. The supplement manufacturer, however, knows that this is “label dressing” to trick the consumer into paying a premium price for a mediocre to garbage product.

The following points explain the various forms of protein powders available on the market. We will give a synopsis of each. We will also look at protein powders based on your goals, and what you should be looking for.

    Whey Protein Concentrate

Whey protein concentrate powders are a popular choice among the fitness community because of it’s muscle building properties, health promoting profile and, maybe the most important attribute, it’s affordable cost. A high quality WPC can contain roughly 70-80% protein. However, the FDA allows companies to to use as low as 34% protein to be considered a whey protein concentrate. On a per gram basis it contains less protein than whey protein isolate, but it contains many of those subfraction proteins we talked about earlier that WPI remove during the filtration process.

Whey protein concentration does not have to go through the advanced filtration process that isolates go through thus making it more cost-effective to produce.  An important thing to note is that because it does not go through this filtration process that WPI go through the WPC contains more of these health promoting subfraction proteins in them.  Many people choose a concentration as an everyday protein because of these attributes that assist in other forms of health outside of muscle building.

Whey protein concentrate does contain more fat, carbohydrates, sodium and lactose than WPI. This is because the WPC does not go through any advanced filtration process to remove any of these.  If you are not lactose intolerant, not worried about the extra fats and carbs than a WPC is a good choice as it is more affordable.

    Whey Protein Isolate

Whey protein isolate is a form of whey protein that goes through an additional filtration process that WPC does not go through making it a purer protein powered.  Various filtration processes are available to create a WPI but the most popular are cross flow micro filtration, ion exchange, ultra filtration, micro filtration, etc.  Long story short, each of these filtration processes can remove more or less of those other sub-fractions of proteins we find in a WPC.

A typical WPI contains 90-96% protein compared to WPC 70-80%. This right here makes it an attractive protein source for those in the fitness community because they want to know they are getting the max protein for their dollar. A WPI also contains less fat, carbohydrates, sodium and lactose than a WPC.

Whey protein isolate is also more rapidly absorbed by your body than a WPC. This leads to an increase in insulin production by your body. There are no real-world studies that I can find that leads to saying this is better or worse post-workout. However, the body needs insulin to product muscle. Rises in insulin at the wrong time can turn into body fat. Rises in insulin after a workout due to the rapid absorption of WPI could be a benefit for those looking to increase muscle mass.

    Whey Protein Hydrolysate

Whey protein hydrolysate is going to be the highest form of whey protein available. It will also be the most expensive protein available. A whey protein concentrate or whey protein isolate can be hydrolyzed.

The difference in whey protein hydrolysate is that it is broken down even further (whey protein concentrate and isolate are already fast digesting proteins) breaking apart the amino bonds making a hydrolysate protein powder digest and absorb even faster than an isolate.

    Casein Protein

Casein protein is known as the slow-digesting protein powder. There is more of an abundance of casein protein powder when protein powders are made. They remove the whey and what is left is casein (approximately 80% of the dairy source contains casein versus 20% whey).

Casein proteins are great when you do not need the rapid absorption of a protein powder. In fact, your body can only utilize a certain amount of protein in a time period. A lot of bodybuilders and fitness gurus like to use a combination of whey protein and casein so they get the quick absorption of the whey, and then the slow digesting protein from the casein.

Casein is a popular choice before bedtime. Most of us are getting 6-9 hours of sleep a night. That is a long time without feeding the machine. Casein protein continues to feed you while you sleep.

Casein protein is also available as an isolate.

    Milk Protein Concentrate/Isolate

Milk protein is protein powder containing both whey and casein. Under the casein protein section we indicated that 80% of the protein derived from the dairy source is casein, while 20% is whey. Instead of separating the two forms of protein, they just leave them as-is.

Milk protein is used in a lot of protein bars. It is also available as a source of protein in protein powders. This is a cheaper protein due to the fact that they do not have to separate out the casein from the whey. Just because it is less expensive, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad quality. Milk proteins can be beneficial depending on your goals.

    Beef Protein

Many people have issues with lactose, this making whey protein concentrate, and some isolates, undrinkable for them. Beef protein is an option for those that cannot work with lactose.

Beef protein is exactly how it sounds, protein derived from cattle. There are several brands of beef protein available on the market. These typically won’t rank in anyone’s top five rated protein powders, due to whey protein being superior in studies, but it is important you know that they exist.

    Vegan Proteins

The market for vegan friendly products has grown tremendously. In fact, this is a huge profit opportunity for supplement manufactures.

Vegas proteins are derived from a vegan/vegetable source. The most common are pea protein and hemp protein. It is important, that if you follow a vegan lifestyle, that you supplement with a protein powder. These vegan protein powders are a great choice.

    For Muscle Gains

When looking for the right protein powder to support your muscle gains, you want to make sure you are getting a high quality protein. This is best found in a whey protein powder.

You want to ensure that you are getting adequate protein to help with protein synthesis, muscle recovery, repair and regrowth. You will want to look for either a whey protein concentrate that is close to 80% quality, or a whey protein isolate which is above 90%.

    For Weight Loss

A high quality protein powder is going to help with weight and fat loss. Protein powders contain a high ratio of proteins compared to fats and carbs. This is important because protein powders increase protein synthesis which increases muscle gains which burns more fat.

Protein is also broken down more quickly than fats. While it can curb your cravings for sweets, it also aids in fat loss by making you feel full with the macros you need and without the macros you don’t need.

You want to look for a protein powder that is high in protein content and low in carbs, fats and sodium. These are the best protein powders for weight loss.

    RedCon1 MRE Lite Review

    RedCon1 MRE Lite Full Review

MRE Lite from RedCon1 could more-or-less be called a whey protein alternative. This isn’t a bad thing. With 24g of protein per serving from beef, salmon, chicken, egg, rice and pea, you are getting a nice alternative to whey. For those of us trying to get away from whey, this is a good choice. The price is going to be higher than your traditional 2lb tub, but you’re getting whole food sources as your protein. I would not go as far as calling this a MRE Lite, but a whey alternative. A great investment for those of you looking for that.

NTel Nutra Roadmap Limited Run Review: A Mediocre Pump Product

    NTel Nutra Roadmap full review

Roadmap Limited Run from NTel Nutra is their pump enhancing supplement. This is a nice additive to any pre-workout to improve your pumps in the gym. A proprietary blend is used causing us to raise our eyebrows since this is a brand that typically does full disclosure. The product seems to work when added to a pre-workout powder, but not knowing the guts of this really hurts the overall score.
