Overview of RedCon1 MRE Bar

RedCon1 has been making waves on the sports nutrition scene since they started. It seems like anything CEO Aaron Singerman gets his hands it turns out to be successful and profitable. They have a quality line of supplements.

MRE Bars from RedCon1 are like no other protein bar, because it gets it’s protein from whole food sources. This is a huge benefit for the MRE Bar over competitors. They are amazing for texture and great one taste. The eyebrow raiser is the price tag. If you can find this on-sale it’s a grab and buy for sure! OR If you just want to use our coupon code and save money – that works too!

Why You Should Trust Our Reviews

  • EXPERT REVIEW PANEL
Our review panel is made up of individuals with many years of experience in the sports nutrition industry, dating back to the early 2000’s. Their tenure gives them knowledge on brands, supplements, ingredients, dosages and more.
  • FULL CONTAINER REVIEWS
Unlike the majority of “review” sites on the internet, Fitness Informant reviews every supplement on a full-container basis. What does this mean? It means that a review is not written or recorded until the last serving of that product has been finished. We’ve all had products that were great for the first couple of days, but then lost their effectiveness shortly after. We want to ensure you are getting a full review based on a full product.
  • INGREDIENT EDUCATION
We breakdown each ingredient in our reviews to educate you on exactly what the ingredients do, and what is the proper dosage of each ingredient to effectively do what they are intended to do.
  • 100% HONEST – NO B.S. REVIEWS
Our number #1 priority is to inform you proper supplement selection through honest reviews. The majority of “review” sites on the internet will push you to buy a certain product based on the commissions they received. Not us. We want you to purchase the highest quality supplements at the best value. We put your health and wellness first. To achieve your goals we want you to use only the best supplements that you can afford. We do this by being honest.

Testing Results and Ratings

We reviewed RedCon1 MRE Bar on four categories. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at quality of protein used in the protein bars and amount, macros and other ingredients involved in the making of this protein bar.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to try the following flavors: Banana Nut Bread, Blueberry Cobbler, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Cup, Sprinkled Donut, Carrot Cake and German Chocolate Cake.

Texture is important in a protein bar selection. We review the texture as well. We discuss chalkiness, chewiness, softness and crunch.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of ingredients, taste and texture in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of protein bars on the market.

Ingredients Profile

(9.0/10)

RedCon1 MRE Bar label

Most protein bars are going to use some sort of variation of whey protein (isolate, concentrate, milk) to make up the protein in their bar. Not the MRE Bar. RedCon1 is using whole food sources to make up their bars.

You can actually see the food in the bar. You can see the nuts, the oats, the blueberries. This is really refreshing. Their protein blend comes from beef, salmon, chicken, egg, brown rice and pea protein. They also have a carbohydrate blend consisting of sweet potatoes, yams, fruit, coconut water powder and MCT Oil. Part of the carb blend consists of Dextrose and Maltodextrin, which is a negative on their part. There is soy protein in the bar and whey protein in the coating.

Overall, I love the use of food sources to make up this bar. Does it make it better than the competition? I think so, for sure.

The macros are solid on these:

Calories: 260
Fats: 9g
Carbs: 29g
Protein: 20g

There are a lot of carbs in this bar, so it’s more for a cheat day if you are not consuming carbs. MRE stands for meal replacement. I don’t feel this is a meal replacement since I eat at least 400-500 calories per meal, but if you consume significantly less than this could be I guess.

Overall, the profile is solid. Whole food sources are more recognizable than just powders. Kudos to RedCon1.

Taste

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip: (9/10)
Blueberry Cobbler: (8/10)
Banana Nut Bread: (9/10)
Sprinkled Donut: (9.5/10)
Iced Carrot Cake: (10/9.5)
German Chocolate Cake: (10/10)
Peanut Butter Cup: (10/10)

The MRE Bars are some of the tastiest bars you will try…ever. The texture is amazing (get to that next) but the taste is so good. The flavors match exactly what the wrapper says. In my best Willy Wonka voice, Blueberry Cobbler tastes like Blueberry Cobbler, Carrot Cake tastes like Carrot Cake! The German Chocolate Cake is my go-to favorite, but you cannot go wrong with any flavor. I can honestly say I have enjoyed everyone I have tried. I have even purchased these out of my own pocket book because they are so good.

They keep coming out with flavors which is quickly putting the MRE Bar towards the top of best rated bars.

I can explain each flavor but honestly, if you know what Banana Nut Bread tastes like, the bar will taste just like it. No bullshit.

Texture

(10/10)

These get a perfect score on texture. You can tell you’re not eating a normal protein bar. They are more soft, less chewy than all others I have had.

The exterior of each bar is very similar to the Combat Crunch Bar from MusclePharm. You get the chocolate coating with crisps for added crunch. The interior is where all the goodness happens. The real food sources, which you can see, fall off right into your mouth.

Check out photos on our social platforms, you can tell that these are not like any other protein bars. Solid 10 out of 10!

Value

(9.0/10)

The surface price of the MRE Bar is more than you’re used too, but thankfully RedCon1 does a lot of sales on these (20-30% off) making them more in-line with the competition. Either way, this bar is worth every penny.

The bar price is $34.99 normally before discount. Fitness Informant has a coupon code (INFORMANT) to shave 10% off the price to make these more affordable…they are worth it! Again, don’t let this scare you. The typical bar price is around $24.99…so these are almost $10 more. But with a 20-30% discount, you are right there.

I like the ingredients used, I love the tastes and the texture. These are completely worth it.
