Quest Protein Bars

quest protein bars overall ratingQuest Nutrition revolutionized the protein bar game. They were the first brand since PowerBar to come out as a protein bar only company to become the leader in the industry. After a change in formula put the company at risk, Quest went back to their original formula to regain market share. Today you can find their products in convenience stores nation-wide.

QUEST Bars are the first product from Quest Nutrition that put it on the map. These bars changed the way we consumed protein bars. They used sugar alcohols to bring the net carbs down to practically zero while still maintaining a great taste and texture. QUEST Bars are a solid choice of a protein bar whether you buy them in bulk or grab one at the gas station. You cannot go wrong with a QUEST Bar.

Ingredients

4.5 / 5.0

QUEST Bars utilize whey protein isolate and milk protein isolate (80% casein and 20% whey) as their primary source of protein in their protein bars. This gives you high quality protein that will give you immediate benefits of the whey isolate but also the prolonged benefits of the casein in the milk protein isolate.

The Macros

Calories: 190

Fats: 8g

NET Carbs (Carbohydrates - Fiber - Sugar Alcohol): 3g

Protein: 21g

The macro profile is where QUEST Bars thrive compared to the competition. Having only 3g of net carbs was what shocked the world in these protein bars. They are macro friendly so they are consumed by many in the fitness world. They also use higher quality ingredients which is why this is one of the best quality protein bars you will find on the market.

Taste

Flavor(s): Cookie Dough, Cookies & Cream, Smores, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip

3.75 / 5.0

quest protein bar boxWhen QUEST Bars first came out they were the best tasting protein bars available. We were used to the dry, bad tasting PowerBars. QUEST Bars changed the way we thought of protein bars. The taste has essentially remained the same over time. It is still good. Other companies are now making better tasting protein bars with very similar profiles so compared to them this is not the best any longer. However, you will not complain about the taste of these bars. If you see QUEST Bars in a gas station and you buy them you will be happy you did.

Texture

3.5 / 5.0

Much like taste, when QUEST Bars were first released they had the best texture of any protein bar on the market. Since then other companies are creating baked bars which are softer and easier to chew than QUEST Bars. QUEST Bars also have a "sticky" feel to them as well. All-in-all it is not bad. We just find that some of the competitors have a better texture to them versus QUEST Bars. If you like that "sticky" chewy texture then you'll like these!

Value

4.25 / 5.0

QUEST Bars retail for around the industry average of $25. The fact is QUEST Bars kind of set the pricing structure for protein bars. Most competitors will price their bars around the same price as Quest Nutrition. These are good valued bars because you are getting one of the best protein bars on the market in terms of the ingredient list and macro profile. I am willing to bend a bit on taste and texture knowing that I am putting quality into my body that I work so damn hard for. QUEST Bars are priced exactly where they should be.
