Overview of Cutler Nutrition Generate

Jay Cutler is a 4x Mr. Olympia champion. He once upon a time had his own branded line with BPI Sports...one that we would not stand behind here at FI. However, Jay was able to start his own line, without a big brand behind it, and he is putting out quality products.

Cutler Nutrition Generate is a quality EAA supplement featuring a great profile, a solid taste and at an affordable price. Jay is no leveraging his name in greed, but in an effort to bring properly dosed supplements to market. Generate is a properly dosed amino product that gets our recommendation.

Why You Should Trust Our Reviews

  • EXPERT REVIEW PANEL
Our review panel is made up of individuals with many years of experience in the sports nutrition industry, dating back to the early 2000’s. Their tenure gives them knowledge on brands, supplements, ingredients, dosages and more.
  • FULL CONTAINER REVIEWS
Unlike the majority of “review” sites on the internet, Fitness Informant reviews every supplement on a full-container basis. What does this mean? It means that a review is not written or recorded until the last serving of that product has been finished. We’ve all had products that were great for the first couple of days, but then lost their effectiveness shortly after. We want to ensure you are getting a full review based on a full product.
  • INGREDIENT EDUCATION
We breakdown each ingredient in our reviews to educate you on exactly what the ingredients do, and what is the proper dosage of each ingredient to effectively do what they are intended to do.
  • 100% HONEST – NO B.S. REVIEWS
Our number #1 priority is to inform you proper supplement selection through honest reviews. The majority of “review” sites on the internet will push you to buy a certain product based on the commissions they received. Not us. We want you to purchase the highest quality supplements at the best value. We put your health and wellness first. To achieve your goals we want you to use only the best supplements that you can afford. We do this by being honest.

Testing Results and Ratings

We reviewed Cutler Nutrition Generate on five categories. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in this amino acid supplement, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.

RYSE

We then look at effectiveness. An effective amino acid product will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages.  This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that amino product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Watermelon.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12-16 oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of BCAA/EAA products on the market.

Ingredients Profile

(8.8/10)Cutler Nutrition Generate Label

Cutler delivered with this Amino product. Not only are you getting BCAA’s, but you are getting a solid dose of EAA’s, along with Taurine. We like to see hydration ingredients incorporated into Amino products, as they are often times taken as an intra workout supplement.

We start off with 5g of 2:1:1 instantized BCAA. This is the optimal ratio that we recommend here at FI. These BCAAs are instantized, which is going to increase the mixability aspect of this product. We like seeing fermented vegan BCAAs, but we are okay here with just instantized.

This product comes in at 2g of EAAs. Those 2g’s are comprised of all 6 essential amino acids. We are satisfied here with the 2g serving as most of the products on the market are dosed at only around 1g.

We finish off with a clinical dosage of Taurine at 1,500mg that is used for hydration. Studies have shown that taurine also can increase blood flow, which makes this a good addition if you are going to use this product for intra workout.

While we do have 1 hydration ingredient included, it could be useful to add something else like coconut water powder to increase the hydration aspect of this product. AstraGin would also be a great addition, it would allow your body to absorb the ingredients better ultimately leading to a more efficient product.

Overall, the profile is strong. We have no major complaints here, only a few suggestions for improvement!

Effectiveness

(8.8/10)

When looking at the effectiveness of an amino acid, it is important to notice the impact it has on reducing DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness). Lactic acid builds up as you are lifting and amino products help to reduce it. However, since I am an advanced lifter, I rarely suffer from DOMS anymore. I can say that I had no DOMS whatsoever when using this product.

While you are in the gym clangin’ and bangin’ you are creating micro tears in your muscle tissue. An amino acid is used to aid the body in repairing and recovering the tissue. Generate from Cutler Nutrition contains 5g of BCAAs alongside 2g of EAAs that will aid in the recovery of your muscle tissue.

Next, we should take note of the hydration aspect. This product does a good job of quenching your thirst, and the 1g of taurine is a nice add for cellular hydration. As mentioned above, it would be nice to see the addition of another ingredient, such as Coconut water powder to fully maximize the hydration benefits of this amino product.

Taste

Watermelon: (9.0/10)

I got to use the watermelon flavor, and it tastes exactly like I expected. It is not too sweet and artificial tasting like many products on the market today. Typically, we see watermelon flavors that are extremely overpowering and much too sweet.

This flavor is smooth and would be easy to sip on throughout the day. Quite refreshing. Cutler Nutrition did a fine job with this flavor.

Mixability

(9.5/10)

This product contains a 10.5g scoop, with 8.5g of active ingredients. It is recommended to mix this product in with 8-12oz of water, a bit less than what we normally see on an amino acid. Regardless of the small amount of water, there is very little residue on the sides of the shaker. I never was able to notice any grittiness when drinking this product.

Value

(9.0/10)

We like to see amino acids retail for around $1 per serving here at Fitness Informant. Generate comes in at $30 for 30 servings, right on the money. You are getting 5g of BCAAs and 2g of EAAs, with 1g of taurine.

With the addition of Coconut water powder for hydration, or AstraGin for absorption, we would be able to give this product a 10 here.
