Overview of RSP Nutrition AminoLean

RSP Nutrition is known as a legacy brand in the sports nutrition world. Many legacy brands are caught back in the days of the uneducated consumer. RSP Nutrition is one of these brands.

RSP Nutrition AminoLean is behind the times on full transparency products with optimal dosages. Underdosed prop blends will not earn any points for this product. With all the new fat burners and solid amino products on the market today, this would be a hard-pass for us.

Why You Should Trust Our Reviews

  • EXPERT REVIEW PANEL
Our review panel is made up of individuals with many years of experience in the sports nutrition industry, dating back to the early 2000’s. Their tenure gives them knowledge on brands, supplements, ingredients, dosages and more.
  • FULL CONTAINER REVIEWS
Unlike the majority of “review” sites on the internet, Fitness Informant reviews every supplement on a full-container basis. What does this mean? It means that a review is not written or recorded until the last serving of that product has been finished. We’ve all had products that were great for the first couple of days, but then lost their effectiveness shortly after. We want to ensure you are getting a full review based on a full product.
  • INGREDIENT EDUCATION
We breakdown each ingredient in our reviews to educate you on exactly what the ingredients do, and what is the proper dosage of each ingredient to effectively do what they are intended to do.
  • 100% HONEST – NO B.S. REVIEWS
Our number #1 priority is to inform you proper supplement selection through honest reviews. The majority of “review” sites on the internet will push you to buy a certain product based on the commissions they received. Not us. We want you to purchase the highest quality supplements at the best value. We put your health and wellness first. To achieve your goals we want you to use only the best supplements that you can afford. We do this by being honest.

Testing Results and Ratings

We reviewed RSP Nutrition AminoLean on five categories. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in this amino acid supplement, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.

We then look at effectiveness. An effective amino acid product will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages.  This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that amino product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Passion Fruit.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12-16 oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of BCAA/EAA products on the market.

Ingredients Profile

(4/10)AminoLean Label

AminoLean by RSP Nutrition is another contender in the amino game. Their target audience for this product is someone looking to lean out or lose weight. They state there are zero calories, zero sugars and zero GMOs. Let’s hop into the ingredient profile and break them all down.

First up is the Amino Acid Blend starting with all your typical aminos. Now this product doesn’t break them down by individual dosing but rather into one blend of 5,000mg. This makes it difficult to figure out if the product is using the effective doses. This blend includes 13 aminos along with the standard Beta Alanine, which you don’t typically find in an amino product. Taurine is an ingredient we’d like to see dosed at 1g, Beta-Alaine at 1.6-3.2g, then your BCAA at a minimum of 5g…this is highly underdosed.

Next up is their “Weight Management Blend”. This again does not have the dosages of each ingredient but rather the 1,500mg dose for the entire blend. It does contain Conjugated Linoleic Acid Powder or CLA for short. CLA is a beneficial fatty acid that helps burn fat and build the immune system. Next up is L-Carnitine L-Tartrate which also helps reduce fat and is thought to reduce fatigue. Green Tea Extract is the common ingredient found in most weight loss supplements and is thought to increase the metabolism. Last up in the blend is Green Coffee Extract which also is said to aid in fat loss and energy production. This blend is highly underdosed as CLA by itself should be 1,000mg, L-Carnitine should be at least 1,500mg…that is 2,500mg between the two in a 1,500mg blend.

The final blend is the “Natural Energy and Focus Blend” and only has two ingredients. It is listed at 130mg and contains Caffeine and Theobromine. We all know what caffeine does and Theobromine is a vasodilator and aids in the pump. However these two fight against one another.

For the reason of not being able to determine each ingredients actual dose I would give this a 4 rating. I would like to see more products list each ingredient at optimal doses rather than throw them into a “blend”.

Effectiveness

(4.0/10)

You might get an increase in energy with the caffeine amount in here, but outside of that, no ingredient seems like it can be dosed appropriately to provide the benefit of amino acids or the benefit of fat loss. Is it a better alternative for coffee? Sure, but at the end of the day there are much better options on the market for both aminos and fat burners. This one is neither in our opinion.

Taste

Passion Fruit: (9.0/10)

The flavor that I used was Passion Fruit. This tastes like every other Passion Fruit flavor out there but I did enjoy it. It was sweet but not overwhelming but that was also dependent on how many scoops you would use. When I increased the dose or scoops I would just make sure to add more water if I didn’t want it sweet that day. It is a flavor that I never really got tired of.

Mixability

(6/10)

Two scoops is considered on serving and coming in at 7.8g it seems like it would be easy to mix. The product seemed to separate inside the container even before I would grab my scoops. I made sure to shake the tub in order to mix the powder around. Once added to my shaker cup there were floaters and particles left after vigorous shaking. Obviously the more scoops you used the more floaters or particles you would have. For that reason I am giving this product a 6 rating.

Value

(5/10)

Value is more than just price point. You need to look at the profile and the effectiveness and relate it to price and to competitors. This retails for $20 for 30-servings which seems great, it’s just not a great product therefore it is not a good value. Invest your money in a product that is going to work. This is just expensive kool-aid with some caffeine. You deserve better.
