Overview of Primeval Labs Intracell 7 Black
Primeval Labs is a company doing some pretty neat things in the sports nutrition space with formulas that are top notch. We've reviewed Mega Pre Black before form the brand, and that was one of our favorite pre-workouts to date. They continue to innovate on really good products.
Intracell 7 Black from Primeval Labs is a new version of Intracell that takes intra-workout supplementation to the next level. It packs in aminos, carbs and electrolytes to help you fuel, hydrate and recover. This is one of our favorite intra-workout supplements created with the use of high quality carb sources, a full spectrum of aminos and added ingredients for hydration and pump.
Why You Should Trust Our Reviews
- EXPERT REVIEW PANEL
Our review panel is made up of individuals with many years of experience in the sports nutrition industry, dating back to the early 2000’s. Their tenure gives them knowledge on brands, supplements, ingredients, dosages and more.
- FULL CONTAINER REVIEWS
Unlike the majority of “review” sites on the internet, Fitness Informant reviews every supplement on a full-container basis. What does this mean? It means that a review is not written or recorded until the last serving of that product has been finished. We’ve all had products that were great for the first couple of days, but then lost their effectiveness shortly after. We want to ensure you are getting a full review based on a full product.
- INGREDIENT EDUCATION
We breakdown each ingredient in our reviews to educate you on exactly what the ingredients do, and what is the proper dosage of each ingredient to effectively do what they are intended to do.
- 100% HONEST – NO B.S. REVIEWS
Our number #1 priority is to inform you proper supplement selection through honest reviews. The majority of “review” sites on the internet will push you to buy a certain product based on the commissions they received. Not us. We want you to purchase the highest quality supplements at the best value. We put your health and wellness first. To achieve your goals we want you to use only the best supplements that you can afford. We do this by being honest.

Testing Results and Ratings
We reviewed Primeval Labs Intracell 7 Black on five categories. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in this amino acid supplement, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.
We then look at effectiveness. An effective amino acid product will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages. This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that amino product will be.
Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Rainbow Sherbet.
Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12-16 oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.
Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of BCAA/EAA products on the market.
We mentioned earlier that this is one of our favorite intra-workout supplements. We get asked a lot, Aminos or Carbs intra-workout. We always say why not both. Intracell 7 Black gives us both.
Intracell 7 Black starts out with (per 2-scoops) 5g of 2:1:1 BCAAs. That would be 2,500mg of Leucine and 1,250mg of Iso-Leucine and Valine. We then get 845mg of EAAs. These are the other six EAAs outside of BCAAs. In total, per 2-scoops we are just shy of 6g of EAAs. This aids in reducing DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) for recovery.
The Electrolyte Blend is 1,438mg of Raw Coconut Water Concentrate, DiCalcium Phosphate, DiMagnesium Phosphate, DiSodium Phosphate and Potassium Phosphate.
Next, we get 20g of a Carbohydrate Blend. The blend includes Carb10 (Pea Starch) from Compound Solutions, Palatinose (a naturally sourced smart carbohydrate, providing full carbohydrate energy (4kcal/g) in a more balanced way thanks to its low-glycaemic profile), Organic Oat Bran, Organic Amaranth, Organic Quinoa, Organic Buckwheat, Organic Millet, Organic Chia (ModCarb) and Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin. Having 20g carbs intra-workout is solid intra-workout fuel as you restore your glycogen stores.
The Performance Blend starts with 2g of L-Taurine, which helps regulate electrolytes and prolongs endurance, 1g Glycerol Powder, which makes your muscles act as a sponge to absorb water to help with strength and performance output and VasoDrive-AP. VasoDrive-AP is a patented, proprietary ingredient derived from casein. VasoDrive-AP helps enhance the pump.
Overall, this is a solid formula. Sure, we would like to see the blends broken out but given what is in them we are not overly concerned with it.
Intracell 7 Black is formulated to provide fuel, hydration and recovery.
The hard part with an intra-workout supplement is determining effectiveness. With Intracell 7 Black we looked at muscle recovery, hydration and intra-workout fatigue.
We didn’t experience any DOMS. That said, we are advanced lifters. Having just over 6g of Aminos is solid, and having the 5g 2:1:1 BCAA is the proven ratio to prevent DOMS.
Hydration was solid with the electrolyte complex and the addition of Taurine. We would take two scoops into a shaker cup of 24oz of water. It was solid in terms of hydration and quenched your thirst.
Lastly, fatigue. The intra-workout carbs are going to help provide energy, and they do. We had solid stamina and endurance throughout the lift.
Overall, this is a better intra-workout for you that is more than just your aminos or just a carb.
Rainbow Sherbet was OK. There wasn’t any tart too it, nor much sweetness, kind of in the middle, which some people like. There could have been more flavor too it, specifically an orange flavor but I didn’t get that. Don’t get me wrong, it is not bad tasting, just didn’t meet the expectation of a sherbet in our opinon which is highly subjective on a topic of taste.
Two scoops contains 34.4g, that’s a big scoop. You can tell you are drinking a powdered drink because there is some grit too it, but it is not awful. This is the carb source. At the end, when you finish the drink, there is some residue left over you want to wash down with a swig of water. It is not unexpected, with a serving size at this amount you would expect that. See the video above for a full demo.
Each unit is a 40/20 serving unit for $45. With some intra-workouts retailing at $2 a serving, this is priced right, in our opinon. You get more than just aminos, you are also getting the high quality carb source, the performance blend and the electrolyte blend. This is an all-in-one intra-workout worth the price tag of $45.
