After years of representing other brands as a sponsored athlete, bodybuilding legend Branch Warren is finally starting his own sports nutrition line. Branch will be launching WRN, a new line of premium supplements formulated for athletes like Branch.
Branch will not be the sole formulator, but he does have final approval and input into each and every formula WRN will launch. Speaking with Branch Warren at the 2023 Olympia, we learned about the formulation process of WRN pre-workout.
The new WRN pre-workout formula is loaded. While history has shown that bodybuilder brands are not always formulated with a consumer first mindset, the upcoming WRN pre-workout holds nothing back.
WRN Pre-Workout Supplement Facts
Branch Warren’s new line of sports nutritional supplements, WRN, will launch with three flavors of WRN pre-workout. The pre-workout will be available in Fruit Punch, Lemonade and Strawberry Kiwi. Beyond the flavors, the formula is loaded.
There are 20-servings per container. One scoop of the WRN pre-workout is 22.3g, a big serving size for a pre-workout.
Citrulline Malate – 6g
The formula starts with 6g of Citrulline Malate. Citrulline Malate is Citrulline combined with Malic Acid. Citrulline is the primary ingredient used in pre-workout and pump products. Citrulline converts to Arginine in the body which then increases your body’s nitric oxide production which will improve blood flow.
Creatine Monohydrate – 5g
Creatine Monohydrate, the most well-studied dietary ingredient on the planet, is dosed at 5g. The 5g dosage is what we like to see used on a daily basis, although this can vary based on bodyweight. Creatine helps replenish ATP, your body’s energy cycle.
Beta Alanine – 3.2g
Beta Alanine, much like Creatine Monohydrate, is a well studied dietary supplement that has been shown to improve muscular endurance through the buffering of lactic acid. We look for 3.2-6.4g of Beta Alanine per serving.
Betaine Anhydrous – 2g
Betaine is a popular ingredient that is used to help improve power output. We see this anywhere from 1.5-2.5g. We get a respectable 2g dosage. Betaine can also be used in recovery products.
Betaine Nitrate NO3-T – 1g
Exogenous nitrates as NO3-T are a super popular category of ingredients to increase blood flow. We get a full gram of Betaine Nitrate as NO3-T per serving. Betaine Nitrate is a combination of Betaine and nitrates to help improve blood flow.
Alpha-GPC – 800mg
While most companies are going to dose Alpha-GPC at 300mg (you really need 600mg as it yields 50%), WRN pre-workout gives us 800mg yielding 400mg active Alpha-GPC. Alpha-GPC is a nootropic ingredient that has been shown to help improve memory, focus and concentration. It is one of the most effective ingredients in this category.
Peak-ATP – 450mg
Peak ATP is a patent ingredient from TSI USA LLC. It is an exogenous form of ATP that has been shown to provide functional energy and potentiate the role of ATP in the body. ATP is our body’s energy source (creatine is highly involved in this). The 450mg dosage is what we would want from this ingredient. Users should experience better workouts with the use of 450mg Peak ATP.
Caffeine Anhydrous – 400mg
WRN pre-workout contains 400mg caffeine per serving. If you know anything about Branch Warren and his workout style, he needs caffeine. One of Branch’s feedback during the R&D process was he “needs to feel it.” The 400mg caffeine is not out of the norm as many brands are electing to dose caffeine north of 300mg.
GABA – 400mg
GABA, a calming ingredient, is dosed at 400mg. While users are getting 400mg caffeine and more stimulants in the form of Yohimbine, GABA aids in helping prevent the jitters and can aid in focus and concentration. GABA is a neurotransmitter, a chemical messenger in your brain. It slows down your brain by blocking specific signals in your central nervous system. The 400mg dosage is acceptable.
Theobromine – 100mg
Theobromine, a metabolite of caffeine, can offer similar effects as caffeine, but tends to aid more-so in the increase of body temperature (thermogenisis). Theobromine tends to be dosed at 100mg in most pre-workouts.
Yohimbine Bark Extract – 75mg (8% yeild)
Yohimbine is an ingredient you either love or hate. For some, it can provide a spark of big energy, focus and thermogenisis. For others, it can spark anxiety and rapid heartbeat. The 75mg dosage is an 8% yield, meaning users will get 6mg active Yohimbine. We typically see this around 3mg so you are getting roughly double the average. Again, Branch stated he wanted you to feel this pre-workout. With 6mg active Yohimbine, you should more than feel this.
Huperzine A – 20mg
Huperzine A is another nootropic ingredient. We typically see this around 100mcg. In WRN pre-workout you are getting 200mcg per serving. This, combined with Alpha-GPC and the caffeine should help improve your overall mood, concentration and focus.
The new WRN pre-workout from Branch Warren is slated to be launched sometime in Q4 2023. We will have full details here at FI on launch date, as well as an opportunity to win free tubs of the new pre-workout. Make sure to sign-up for our SMS list and email list to be notified of the launch details.
After years and years of low-grade bodybuilder pre-workout formulas, we are starting to see great products come out with reputable names on it. Jay Cutler came out with Cutler Nutrition, a solid line of dietary supplements. Ronnie Coleman has some respectable formulas as well. Let's now add Branch Warren, one of the sweetest human beings on the planet, to that list. WRN pre-workout is loaded.
I was lucky enough to get sent the formula prior to approval and I was shocked at how well it was formulated. We have not tried this yet, but I am being told units will be coming soon and we will provide more feedback on our YouTube and Instagram channels. LFG.
