Overview of APS Nutrition Mesomorph
APS Nutrition, backed by Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals, prides itself on innovation, quality and consistency. APS also takes the risk, like their parent company Hi-Tech, to use certain ingredients in their products that are under the microscope from the FDA.
Mesomorph from APS Nutrition is one of those products that uses an ingredient under the microscope from the FDA, DMAA. DMAA is a popular ingredient sought out by the hardcore lifting community for the effect it has on their energy level and strength. Mesomorph does pack a helluva punch utilizing a pump complex, a strength complex and an energy complex. If you can get your hands on this before it is gone we recommend you do!
Testing Results and Ratings
We reviewed APS Nutrition Mesomorph on five categories. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in the pre-workout, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.
We then look at effectiveness. An effective pre-workout will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages. This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.
Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Rocket Pop.
Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.
Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of pre-workout products on the market.
Mesomorph uses three different proprietary blends in this pre-workout supplement: nitric oxide complex (pump), cell volumizing complex (strength), and an energy complex.
The nitric oxide complex contains Beta Alanine, L-Citrulline DL-Malate and Arginine at 6.5mg. Collectively these will give you a pump that you are looking for. Beta Alanine will also give you that “itch” feeling you get at times while using it in a pre-workout.
The cell volumizing complex uses Di-Creatine Malate, L-Taurine, Creatine Nitrate, Ascorbic Acid, Creatinol-O-Phosphate and Agmatine Sulfate. This will provide your muscles with more water (creatine) and help enhance a pump as well with the use of the Agmatine Sulfate. It will also improve your muscle endurance with the use of L-Taurine.
The last complex is the energy complex where most look when buying a pre-workout. Mesomorph contains a form of Caffeine, Theobromine (widens your veins to improve blood flow), and the highly sought out DMAA. DMAA comes from geranium plans and has very similar effects as caffeine x10. DMAA is under investigation currently in the federal court system.
The combination of these ingredients do provide great energy and a nice pump. The one area that it does miss on, in our opinion, is the cognitive functions, such as a nootropic.
I was a big fan of Mesomorph. As far as energy goes you get a nice energy from this product. Some of the pre-workouts that contain DMAA go a bit over-the-top where you feel like you could punch through a wall. Some people like that. I don’t like that feeling where my heart feels like it might pound out of my chest. You don’t get that feeling with this. You get a good energy.
You also get a nice pump as well, not as nice as some other products which pack in 6g of L-Citrulline and more than 1g of Agmatine Sulfate but still a great pump. Overall I would say this was a very effective pre-workout that provides the right amount of energy.
Mesomorph Rocket Pop flavor was very good. It was very sweet, which surprised us. We’ve tried other DMAA based pre-workouts and they were not as sweet and flavorful as this. This is the best tasting DMAA based pre-workout we’ve ever tried.
Mesomorph mixes extremely well. In relation to other DMAA based pre-workouts I would say this one mixed the best. This was not chunky at all, not a lot of residue either. After only a couple shakes of the shaker cup it was essentially fully dissolved.
At this point DMAA is in high demand. A lot of online retailers will be increasing the prices. Right now you can buy Mesomorph for around $35 a container for 25-servings. This is more cost-effective than other DMAA based pre-workouts as well. If you are looking for a DMAA based pre-workout then you won’t find a more affordable solution than Mesomorph.
