How can we have such a high protein ice cream that tastes good? Well, the insider in me knows that there is a patent process used to make Blackstone’s Iso-Cream so they got it right.
Flavor for flavor, compared to Halo Top, Blackstone wins. Blackstone only has three flavors at this time, but if you compare them to the Halo Top counterpart, they win. I will say that Halo Top has some flavors that I overall like more (i.e. Oatmeal Cookie).
My favorite of the three was mint chocolate chip. Vanilla cookie dough was good, but it could have used more cookie dough pieces. If you want texture that is damn close to real ice cream, then buy Iso-Cream. Iso-Cream is not super hard like Enlightened or Artic Zero. It is softer and more ice cream like than Halo Top in terms of texture.I refuse to say this is EXACTLY like ice cream, but it is pretty damn close. Yes, it is a high price. It is double Halo Top. I get all of that. However, go back up to the profile section and read how this rates against Halo Top. It kicks it’s ass. It has more high quality protein, less fats, less carbs and less sugars. The protein is damn near double!The taste is better than Halo Top as well (flavor for flavor). The texture is also an added benefit over Halo Top.
The area that make it hard to justify value isn’t necessarily the $10 price tag, it’s that you have to buy a minimum of six. That is a $60 order, at least, for ice cream. No one wants to do that. Hell, no one wants to spend $10! However, get a friend to go halvsies with you on this. Then it’s only $30 and you get to try each flavor. Once you get your package in the mail and see the dry ice and the cooler, you’ll realize the overhead that goes into this.
When asked if I personally would spend $10 on ice cream, the answer is yes, I have. I have filled up a huge cup at froyo places before where it was well over $10. Don’t act like we haven’t paid this kind of price before. We have.
