Nutrition is a new brand to us, and probably to many of you. They are in-market with two SKUs, a pre-workout and a BCAA. We were excited to work with them as we are always surprised by companies that we haven’t hear of.

B.A.R. Nutrition’s pre-workout is a good pre-workout with a nice mix of caffeine, stims and cognitive enhancing ingredients. It’s not too often you find pre-workouts with Noopept now days, but this one has it, along with other awesome nootropics. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in the pre-workout, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.

We then look at effectiveness. An effective pre-workout will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages. This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Peach Tea.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Ingredients Profile

(7.5/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]B.A.R. Nutrition’s Pre-Workout uses many standard ingredients with proven results. It also incorporates other ingredients that are known, but not widely seen. Let’s dive into it.

Let’s look at the pump ingredients first. We first start with 6g of L-Citrulline Malate. This is the clinical dosage of this ingredient. This is a pump enhancing ingredient as it helps promote blood flow. Next, we get 1g of L-Arginine. This is a solid dosage of an ingredient that will influence and increase NO levels in the body. After that, we get 1g of Agmatine Sulfate. This increases the perception of pain, and inhibits NO eating enzymes in the body, allowing your nitric oxide levels to work for you. A selection and dosages of pump ingredients.

Then we get into strength and endurance. We start with 1.5g of Beta-Alanine. This is the “itchy” ingredient to most, but it actually serves a purpose. It is intended to improve endurance. The proper dosage of this should be 3.2g. We come in at 50% of that. B.A.R. tosses in 1g of Taurine. This is a sufficient dosage of the ingredient meant to improve overall strength output. We get Kre-Alkalyn creatine at 1g as well. Creatine helps with strength output. Creatine Monohydrate is typically dosed at 5g, while Kre-Alkalyn should be around 3g. We are a bit light here as well. Overall, the strength complex uses good ingredients, just a tad light on the dosages.

Let’s get into the energy boost next. Two versions of caffeine are used. Caffeine Anhydrous is dosed at 200mg. A good dosage in our opinion. Di-Caffeine Malate is dosed at 75mg. I like the use of two forms of caffeine as it gives you a nice long energy, versus a sudden rush and crash. B.A.R. will then toss in stimulants (we all love those). Synepherine is used at 50mg. This is a nice dosage of Synepherine as it should be dosed between 30-60mg. This is essentially like ephedra. It is a fat burning ingredient meant to improve energy. Lastly, 2mg of Yohimbine HCl is used. Another fat burning, energy producing ingredient. This is a good dosage of it. Anything higher can cause your heart to go crazy. Good energy complex. Not overly complicated, but solid.

Lastly, we get the focus area of the pre-workout. We start with 100mg of Alpha GPC. I love A-GPC. It is one of my favorite nootropics. However, I wish it was dosed more along the lines of 300mg. This will improve focus. Next we get 20mg of Noopept. Great dosage here. This was found in Dust Extreme and how I got to like it. It is a nootropic that will give you “laser like focus.” Lastly, Huperzine is used at 100mcg. This is a solid dosage of another cognitive enhancing ingredient.

B.A.R. tosses in 5mg of Coconut Powder as well, but this dosage is so insignificant it really isn’t needed.

Overall, a good profile. Effectiveness

(8.5/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]We’ve taken a lot of pre-workouts in our day. Just check out this site. Effectiveness can range across the board, and it can differ from person to person.

The best part about this pre-workout was the sharp focus it gave us. I know that is because the mix of stims, caffeine, noopept, Huperzine and Alpha GPC. I love a good focus pre-workout. Noopept was loved in Dust Extreme, and you hardly find it on the market anymore. I would grade the focus a 10 out of 10 because we love noopept.

Energy was solid as well. I like it when we can do under 300mg of caffeine but still get an energy burst through the stims like we get in Synepherine and Y0himbe. I would give energy a nice 8-9. You get a good rush right away, and the 75mg of Dicaffeine Malate helps prolong that energy throughout your lift.

Pump was good. I do like other pump additives like Glycerol Powder, but this has what you need. You get Citrulline Malate, Agmatine Sulfate and L-Arginine to provide a good pump. You won’t necessarily need a pump agent on this baby. I give pump an 8.

Strength and endurance were decent. I didn’t find myself getting overly tired, and it was a good long lift session each time out. I would give this a 7.

Honestly, one of the better pre-workouts out there in terms of effectiveness. It hits on all five pillars. Except you are about to go smash some heavy as weight in the gym. Country strong this could be called. This doesn’t taste exactly like tea, but it is still decent to the taste. We rate taste on how closely it matches the label and the overall taste, just a FYI. Depending on the water amount used it could affect mixability. We always choose to do ours in 6oz of water, or so, to get the best rating scale possible. This mixed really well with minimal floaties as we call them and residue going to the bottom. This portion of the review looks at the amount of aminos used, as well as the kind of aminos, the ratio and other ingredients involved in the making of this BCAA powder.

We then look at effectiveness. A high BCAA product will be effective. This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Ingredients Profile

(8/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]All-too-often BCAA products are just that, or maybe they toss in Glutamine and attempt to make it a full recovery product. Yes, those are fine. B.A.R. Nutrition takes their BCAA product a step further by giving us EAAs, PeakO2 and electrolytes. Let’s dive in.

We start with the 2:1:1 ratio BCAA (4g of Leucine, 2g Iso-Leucine and 2g Valine). This is the ratio most widely studied and accepted. I would like to see at least 5g of this, but this will do given the other stuff we get with it. Along with the 4g of BCAA, we also get six other EAAs. With the debate on EAAs vs. BCAAs going strong, we get the whole basket here.

Defy BCAA +++ also gives us 1g of PeakO2. This ingredient has proven to increase strength outputs in test subjects. It is made from mushrooms, and we are big fans. A dosage of 2g is more sufficient, but in a BCAA product we cannot complain about getting 1g.

Three different phosphates and coconut water make up the electrolyte and hydration aspect of this BCAA product. We would like to see coconut water powder much higher than 10mg. We have seen this as high as 500mg.

Overall, good profile. I would like to see more BCAA (5g minimum) and more coconut water powder (at least 500mg). Effectiveness

This is an awesome product that tosses in ingredients to hit on other aspects like strength and endurance (PeakO2). Nice job by B.A.R. This comes through nicely in the effectiveness.

Love that I am getting 8g of BCAA (2:1:1) along with other EAAs that our bodies need. We had limited DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) from using this product. We would take in intra-workout, but it tasted so good we’d drink it all the time.

The PeakO2 mentioned early allows you to lengthen the time of your workout by allowing you to go longer as it helps with endurance. We had great, long workouts.

In terms of hydration, I honestly didn’t feel more hydrated than other BCAAs even though this has electrolytes and coconut water powder, but then again they weren’t dosed the highest.

Overall, I like that this is more than just a BCAA. It works. This helps the cause to cure hydration as you keep wanting more and more…and we did. This lemon lime flavor was good, not the best we’ve had, but good. Mixability

(7/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]The reason Nutrex Outlift Concentrate is affordable is because they don’t go overboard with ingredients. They concentrate on focus and energy with this pre-workout. Let’s dive into it.

We start with 1.5g of Choline Bitrate. This is a SOLID dosage of Choline. This is a cognitive enhancing ingredient and we typically see this around 1g. Next we get 750mg of N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine. This, again, is another cognitive enhancing ingredient. We like to see this at minimum of 1g, however we are not far off. This is going to be the focus complex.

For pump we get two versions of nitrates. First we get 500mg of Sodium Nitrate (NO3-T) and then 300mg of Betaine Nitrate (NO3-T). Nitrates kick ass when it comes to pump. We would like to see these higher (we’ve seen them as high as 1,500mg). However, a nice add to a “focus” driven pre-workout.

For energy we get two versions of caffeine. First we get Caffeine Citrate at 400mg (yielding 200mg). Then we get another 200mg of Caffeine Anhydrous for a total of 400mg of caffeine. Yes, this is a TON. You will get an energy kick from this product. We also get 2mg of Rauwolscine which is similar to Yohimbine, a fat burning ingredient. Anything more than this dosage can cause issues, so be aware.

Overall, a good profile based on what they are providing. Energy and focus…with a small pump kick. Effectiveness

Pump: I got a decent pump off of this pre-workout. Every workout from arms to legs left my muscles feeling full.

Focus: now this is what this preworkout nailed it on. Drinking it within 15-20mins of working out it was like a switch flipped. My mind was on one thing and that was the workout I had ahead of me it also lasted for hours after taking it…Definitely a win in this category.

Energy: I will give this an OK rating. With 400mg of caffeine you still get a decent amount of energy. But I did notice that it didn’t last as long as some of the other pre-workouts I’ve taken. Would like TeaCrine or something else added.

Strength: I didn’t really notice much of a strength increase when taking this. It was more of a focus than anything.

Endurance: with this pre-workout being a hit on the focus side, I did notice that I had that feeling I could keep going longer. Without slowing down.

Overall, solid on initial energy, great on focus, and good on pump. Ingredients Profile

They both use 11.25g of greens powder. The big difference is that GI Juice has digestive enzyme complex to go along with their greens.

BSL Juice Up uses the following fruits and veggies: blueberry powder, black raspberry powder, mulberry, pineapple powder, bilberry, papaya powder, carrots, sweet potatoes, kelp, broccoli, camu camu, monk fruit, chlorella and more. These are the common ones.

My takeaway is this, great fruit and greens mix. Another thing that I like is the greens make up 11.25g of a 12.5g serving, meaning only 1.25g come from other stuff. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in the pre-workout, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Ingredients Profile

(7.5/10)[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text]I am a fan when pre-workouts make it easy for the consumer, and label their ingredients in sections (i.e. Pump/Focus/Energy). Dedicated’s label isn’t setup this way, but we did it for you.

Let’s start with pump, because they have a nice variety of pump enhancing ingredients. We start with 3g of L-Citrulline. The clinical dosage of pure L-Citrulline is 3-5g, so we are in the acceptable range, but I still like seeing this around 4-5g minimum. Citrulline helps promote blood flow which is great for pumps and muscle repair. Then we get 1.5g of Betaine Nitrate (NO3T). Nitrates are killer in pump enhancing pre-workouts. This promotes nitric oxide production in the body, leading to better pumps. We also get 1g of Glycerol Monostearate. This is also known as the HydroMax when branded. A good dosage (I love this ingredient so I always like to see it at 2g or higher). This turns your muscles into a sponge and you absorb the water into them. Agmatine Sulfate is used at 750mg. We typically see this at 1g. This allows you to regulate higher levels of nitric oxide and increases your perception of pain (allowing you to go longer). Lastly, we get 50mg of Theobromine. Theobromine can dilate your arteries allowing you to pump more blood into your muscles. Overall, the pump complex is impressive. If you take 2-scoops you’re doubling these which would give you an epic pump.

Then we hop into the energy component. We start with 175mg of Caffeine Anhydrous. To go along with that, you get 250mg of TeaCrine, a high dosage. Toss in 50mg of Infinergy (Di-Caffeine Malate) and you get quite the caffeine complex for quick hitting, longstanding energy. Hordenine HCl is used at 75mg as a stim to go along with the caffeine. This is a solid dosage. Hordenine helps aid in fat burning and creates energy for the body. You also get 30mg of Synepherine HCl. This acts a lot like ephedrine and aids in burning fat and producing energy. This is dosed nicely at 30mg. Lastly, you get 2mg of Alpha-Yohimbe which aids in fat loss by burning fat for energy. Overall, the energy profile is really impressive. The use of stims will also help contribute to focus too.

A couple additional ingredients used are Rhodiola Rosea dosed at 150mg (nice dosage) which prevents fatigue. You also get 100mcg of Huperzine A which is a cognitive enhancing ingredient. You get 50mg of AstraGin to help with nutrient absorption.

Overall, this is a solid dosed pre-workout on pump and energy. We are missing strength components (Beta-Alanine, Taurine, etc) and focus (Tyrosine, Choline, etc). I am a fan of these two components in a pre-workout. Effectiveness

Unstoppable decided to focus on energy with caffeine and stims, which contributes to focus. They also focused on pump ingredients. It was apparent that strength, power and endurance ingredients were missing. Muscle fatigue did set in. A nice addition would have been Taurine and Beta-Alanine, or really impress us and use ElevATP or PeakO2.

For effectiveness, this didn’t hit that hard for us with one scoop. The caffeine total of 225mg mixed with 250mg of TeaCrine seems like a lot, but it didn’t hit as hard as we’d like. The stims in Synepherine, Hordenine and Yohimbe were fine, but felt we were missing something. DMHA or Dynamine may have been a solid addition here. It was suggested to take 2-scoops, but then that affects the value of the product. However, we did run with 2-scoops and it was much better, but almost too much. I think 1.5-scoops is the right amount of this pre-workout. Again, this will affect the value.

In terms of pump, it did a decent job. As I mentioned in profile, Glycerol would have been nice to have more of, hence why 1.5/2 scoops are recommended. Nitrates are expensive and work well, so I did appreciate that. I wouldn’t say you’d necessarily need a pump powder here with this pre-workout, it does a nice job of getting you swolen.

Overall, this pre does a nice job on pump and energy, which leads to increased focus. Where it failed to deliver was prolonged endurance and preventing muscle fatigue. Taste

This one, for us, ended up drinkable but nothing special. It wasn’t the best flavor on the planet. Dragon Fruit is hard to explain, but think tropical/sweet fruit. This was almost too sweet but the mixability affected the taste as well.

Bomb Pop was a little better. However, it didn’t make me think of USA or the 4th of July Popsicle that you can get (can I have one now, please?!) It was drinkable, for sure, but not overly amazing by any means.

Mixability

You can’t tell a lot while drinking, because you chug it, but when you pull the cap off your shaker cup you see a bunch of residue on the sides of it and bottom. You will need to mix up more water to get the rest of it. I am not sure why this is the case. Value

Considering many pre-workouts give you 20-servings for $40 this seems like a deal. And to some extent it is. The issue we have is that it really only hits on three parts of the five part pre-workout pillar. You get pump, energy and some focus, but miss on strength and endurance. At $40 a pop, I would like to see some more covered in this pre.

The recommendation to take 1.5-2 scoops also cuts down on the value. If you turn this into a 15-serving unit (as suggested with 2 scoops) then the value tanks. It really comes down to if you’re looking for an energy high or a full rounded pre.

If you’re only looking for energy and pump then this may work for you. If you hate Beta-Alanine (some do) then again, this could work for you.
