Overview of Pitbull Labs Pre-Workout

Pitbull Labs has been around for awhile, but launched exclusively online at Suppz.com back in October 2017. Pitbull Labs is a great company that produces solid, high quality products, while giving back to charity on every purchase. Pitbull Labs is not just a name, but a brand that represents saving pitbull labs across the world. For each purchase made, they donate a portion of their proceeds to charities that re-home pitbulls.

Pitbull Labs Pre-Workout follows suit in their line of quality supplements. Using a combination of effective ingredients at optimal doses, Pitbull Labs Pre-Workout is the good for energy and focus in the pre-workout market. Although the product is lacking pump ingredients, it still does provide an effective workout at a price that is in-line with their competitors.

Why You Should Trust Our Reviews

Our review panel is made up of individuals with many years of experience in the sports nutrition industry, dating back to the early 2000’s. Their tenure gives them knowledge on brands, supplements, ingredients, dosages and more.
Unlike the majority of “review” sites on the internet, Fitness Informant reviews every supplement on a full-container basis. What does this mean? It means that a review is not written or recorded until the last serving of that product has been finished. We’ve all had products that were great for the first couple of days, but then lost their effectiveness shortly after. We want to ensure you are getting a full review based on a full product.
We breakdown each ingredient in our reviews to educate you on exactly what the ingredients do, and what is the proper dosage of each ingredient to effectively do what they are intended to do.
Our number #1 priority is to inform you proper supplement selection through honest reviews. The majority of “review” sites on the internet will push you to buy a certain product based on the commissions they received. Not us. We want you to purchase the highest quality supplements at the best value. We put your health and wellness first. To achieve your goals we want you to use only the best supplements that you can afford. We do this by being honest.

Testing Results and Ratings

We reviewed Pitbull Labs Pre-Workout on five categories. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile. This portion of the review looks at the different ingredients used in the pre-workout, what their intention is and how effectively dosed are each ingredient.

We then look at effectiveness. An effective pre-workout will use high quality, proven ingredients, at clinically backed dosages.  This is generally an extension of the profile section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be.

Then we move into the taste of the different flavors we’ve tried. We grade each flavor separately and average the scores for their overall taste rating. We were able to test out the following flavors: Cherry Limeade.

Mixability refers to how well the powder mixes in 12oz of water. We use the shaker bottle test. This would be your typical Blender Bottle with the spiral chrome ball.

Finally, we talk about value. Value is the combination of profile, effectiveness, taste and mixability in relation to cost. Another part of value are the competitors and other versions of pre-workout products on the market.

Ingredients Profile

We are in a world now where the rush to make the most effective pre-workout with the smallest scoop is no longer a thing. In fact, many companies are switching to a large scoop so they can provide clinically backed dosing of proven ingredients that target energy, strength, pump and focus.

Pitbull Labs Pre-Workout tackles strength, energy and focus. The strength ingredients used are Betaine Anhydrous at 2.5g. This is a clinically backed dosing of an ingredient shown to increase performance per Examine.com. Beta Alanine is dosed at 2.4g, which is just shy of the clinically supported 3.2g. Beta Alanine helps improve muscle endurance. Lastly, you get 2g of Taurine which is dosed than many pre-workouts (typically we see this at 1-1.5g). Taurine has been shown to increase strength output and endurance.

Regarding energy, Pitbull Labs contains Theacrine, Dicaffeine Malate and Caffeine Anhydrous. Theacrine is a modified version of caffeine in which studies have shown that we do not build a tolerance against. This pre-workout is contains 315mg of Theacrine. We then get 155mg of Dicaffeine Malate. Unlike Caffeine Anyhydrous (the most popular caffeine source and the one that gives you that immediate rush), Dicaffeine Malate is more of a slow and steady caffeine that continues to provide a euphoric energy throughout your lift and reduces the change of caffeine crash. Finally, you get 135mg of Caffeine Anhydrous. If you do the math, you get 720mg of Caffeine sources, but don’t worry, it’s not like 720mg of Caffeine Anhydrous. You’ll be fine, but you’ll be ready to kill the weights.

For focus, you do get the dual threat of N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine and DMAE Bitarate. N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine is dosed at 1.5g. We typically see this at 1g. This has been shown to increase cognitive function. Optimal doses are 500-2000mg. DMAE Bitarate has been shown to help reduce the age pigments that impair your cognitive functionality. At 850mg of DMAE, you are getting a very solid dose.

You do get the added benefit of 50mg of Higenamine and 1mg of Rauwolfia Vomitoria. Higenamine has been shown to have fat burning capabilities similar to Ephedrine, while Rauwolfia Vomitoria has been shown to dilate blood vessels to carry more oxygen in your body.

Overall, the ingredient profile is really well done for strength, energy and focus. I would like to see pump ingredients added, but that’s why they are coming out with a pump product.

Pitbull Labs Pre-Workout label

When you read through our ingredient profile section you might assume that this product kicks-ass on strength, endurance, energy and focus. You’re right it does.

The best part of this pre-workout is the energy complex consisting of three variations of caffeine. This also helps contribute to the focus aspect of the product. Caffeine does a great job of working with our central nervous system to make you think more clear and focus. The combination of the energy and focus components of this pre-workout is very solid.

Regarding strength and endurance, I could complete a 60-minute workout easily and wanted to keep going. Effectively dosing a product really helps with that.

The part that lacked was the pump. Without any pump ingredients in this product, you’d expect that. I do supplement with a pump product when the PWO is lacking ingredients. For the areas of which this product focused on, it did a wonderful job.

Cherry Limeade: (8/10)

I always love it when unique flavors are available in pre-workouts. It seems like everyone comes out with a fruit punch or blue raspberry. Cherry Limeade was different, in a good way. It was refreshing and tasted great. Highly recommend.

With the serving size being 11.2g, there is not a lot of powder to fully dissolve in water. This product did mix very well with only a little residue falling to the bottom. See video for demonstration.

If you go back to earlier, I mentioned a lot of companies are doing larger scoop sizes for an all-in-one pre-workout. Some of the all-in-one pre-workouts we’ve tested here before typically retail for $40 for 20-servings. That would be $2 per serving. Pitbull Labs retails for $40 but you get 25-servings. That makes it $1.60 per servings. You are missing out on a pump complex with this pre-workout.

Overall, I think there is good value is a $40 pre-workout that is effective. But when you look at some of the pre-workout competitor offerings out there, you can find more value elsewhere in terms of ingredients, but Pitbull Labs does kill it on flavor.
