Overview of Ignite Nutrition Shred Up

Shred Up isn’t a horrible fat burner. It provides solid energy, and can provide a few days of decent appetite suppression and thermogenesis. However, there are many other options on the market that perform better and are more affordable.

Why You Should Trust Our Reviews

  • EXPERT REVIEW PANEL
Our review panel is made up of individuals with many years of experience in the sports nutrition industry, dating back to the early 2000’s. Their tenure gives them knowledge on brands, supplements, ingredients, dosages and more.
  • FULL CONTAINER REVIEWS
Unlike the majority of “review” sites on the internet, Fitness Informant reviews every supplement on a full-container basis. What does this mean? It means that a review is not written or recorded until the last serving of that product has been finished. We’ve all had products that were great for the first couple of days, but then lost their effectiveness shortly after. We want to ensure you are getting a full review based on a full product.
  • INGREDIENT EDUCATION
We breakdown each ingredient in our reviews to educate you on exactly what the ingredients do, and what is the proper dosage of each ingredient to effectively do what they are intended to do.
  • 100% HONEST – NO B.S. REVIEWS
Our number #1 priority is to inform you proper supplement selection through honest reviews. The majority of “review” sites on the internet will push you to buy a certain product based on the commissions they received. Not us. We want you to purchase the highest quality supplements at the best value. We put your health and wellness first. To achieve your goals we want you to use only the best supplements that you can afford. We do this by being honest.

Testing Results and Ratings

We reviewed Ignite Nutrition Shred Up on three categories. We first start by looking at it’s ingredient profile and dosage. This portion of the review looks at the ingredients used in the making of this product. We look into each ingredients effective use and determine if it was a quality selection for the product. On top of that, we look to see if proper dosages are being used. It is one thing to use cool ingredients, it's another if they are using them appropriately.

We then look at effectiveness. This is generally an extension of the profile and dosage section. The higher quality ingredients used at proper dosages, the more effective that product will be. With fat burners, you should also feel something - this is part of the effectiveness. It can be appetite control, body temperature (thermogenic) increases, etc.

Finally, we look at value. Value is the combination of the ingredients/dosage, effectiveness, price and comparison products on the market. If the produce is dosed well, with quality ingredients and available at a fair price, the product would be considered valuable.

Ignite Nutrition Shred up Label

Shred up starts with 250mg of Acetyl-L-Carnitine. ALCAR is a great ingredient for nootropic purposes, however the dose is quite low in Shred Up. We’d like to see this around 1.5 grams. Next we get the very well-known Green Tea Extract. Green Tea Extract provides ECGC, which has a wealth of studies showing it to be great for both cardiovascular health as well as metabolic health.

Next comes Hoodia. Now Hoodia was popular over a decade ago. There is very little research on Hoodia, and even some showing it to be ineffective. Next comes Green Coffee Bean Extract. This ingredient got popular due to a certain TV personality several years ago. It contains Chlorogenic Acid, which may be good for blood sugar levels. Here we get 100mg, which is lower than what we’d like to see.

Dandelion and Grains of Paradise are up next. Dandelion is a well known diuretic, and Grains of Paradise has human research backing it up. At 50mg, the Grains of Paradise is dosed well, the Dandelion could use a bit of a higher dose.

Theobromine, Cocoa Powder, Cayenne Pepper, and Rauwolscine. Theobromine is similar to caffeine, although not as strong, and can help with heart health. Cocoa Powder is known to contain antioxidants and aid with a multitude of things, including blood pressure and inflammation. Next up comes Cayenne Pepper. Cayenne is great for digestive health, and can increase thermogenesis. The dose is quite low at 15mg. As for the Rauwolscine, it is also known as Alpha-Yohimbine. It is a proven fat burner, and at a solid dose.

Lastly, we have a 365mg stimulant blend, which consists of Caffeine Anhydrous, N-Methyl-Tyramine, Guarana, and Infinergy. It says on the bottle that there is 305mg of Caffeine per serving. Since the Infinergy isn’t 100% caffeine, there is actually less than 50mg leftover for the Methyl Tyramine and Guarana. Either way, it is enough to provide some solid energy.

The profile isn’t bad, however there are some issues with it. We like the Grains of Paradise, Caffeine Anhydrous, as well as the Alpha-Yohimbine. Some of the ingredients are at low doses, and some ingredients we could do without. Taking out some ingredients and adding some Synephrine could go a long way for Shred Up.

Effectiveness

(7.2/10)

We’ll break this up into 3 categories on what we look for in a fat burner. The 3 categories are energy, appetite suppression, and thermogenesis. Of course, we have to state that fat loss comes down to diet and exercise. 100% of fat loss results come down to those, thermogenics may just make it easier to achieve results.

The energy from Shred Up is probably it’s best feature. The energy is solid and it makes for a great way to start your day. Of course, with 300mg+ of Caffeine, Theobromine, and Alpha-Yohimbine there is no way you’re not getting an energy boost from this. If you don’t get a noticeable boost, you need a stim break.

Appetite suppression is not as strong as we’d like. While it is noticeable, it doesn’t last very long, and you develop a tolerance to it within a few days. For the days it does last, it’s effective, but not impressive.

As for thermogenesis, there is a noticeable effect for the first week or so as well, however, you gain a tolerance to it. This is expected, but there are many other products on the market that hit harder.

Value

(7.0/10)

You can get Shred Up for a little under $40 for 30 servings. With the effectiveness in mind, the value isn’t awful, but there are so many better options on the market that it comes up short.
