Yohimbe is a tree found in Africa. The bark contains an alkaloid called Yohimbine. It is known for its stimulatory effects. Yohimbine can be referred to as Yohimbe Bark, Yohimbine HCl, Alpha Yohimbine, Rauwolscine and Rauwolfia Vomitoria.
Uses of Yohimbine
To start, we have to mention that Yohimbine is an alkaloid found in Yohimbe bark. It is commonly used in Africa as an aphrodisiac. Yohimbine HCl is the synthetic form of Yohimbine.
Yohimbine is found in many supplements, ranging from libido boosters, fat burners, and pre-workouts.
You’ll find it in libido boosters and some testosterone boosters due to studies showing its ability to potentially aid in erections.
You’ll find it in many fat loss products, as it has some good research showing it to be beneficial for fat loss. On that note, the study was done on athletes. Honestly, you’ll probably find it in fat burners more than any other product category. A common fat loss stack is a Caffeine and Yohimbine stack, which is kind of like a new age Ephedrine and Caffeine stack.
As for pre-workouts, Yohimbine is usually added as it has some stimulatory effects, especially when paired with Caffeine. You’ll usually see Yohimbine replacing exotic stimulants in pre-workouts when they are taken off the market (ex. DMAA/AMP Citrate). It can certainly give you a “jittery” feeling depending on your tolerance, and it tends to be an ingredient you’ll either love or hate.
Interactions with Yohimbine
The most common ingredient you’ll find Yohimbine with is Caffeine. A simple combination of the two is a very common and effective fat loss stack.
It is tough to say whether or not Yohimbine is good in a pre-workout or not. Depending on your tolerance, it goes well with Caffeine. We wouldn’t advise stacking it with too many other stimulants as it can be powerful on its own.
If you’re looking for a libido boost, it may be worth trying on its own before adding anything else such as Horny Goat Weed.
Side Effects of Yohimbine
Some side effects may include an increase in blood pressure, anxiety, sweating, increased cortisol, nausea, insomnia, cold sweats, headache, stomach problems, rapid heartbeat, difficulty breathing.
Always consult with your doctor before considering using Yohimbine.
