Overview of MuscleSport CardioBurn

Fat Burners are a popular product across the board as it is a common goal for many in their fitness journey. When it comes to a fat burner product, there are many forms and ingredients that may be used. The question is always whether it is worth it or not. As we preach over and over, losing weight and reaching goals of fat loss is ultimately going to be found in the kitchen with proper nutrition. With that being said, there are ingredients that may be beneficial for fat loss. Let's dive in and take a look at CardioBurn from the ingredients point of view.

MuscleSport CardioBurn Supplement Facts Panel

Diving into the ingredients, we like to look at what the ingredients are supposed to do according to clinical studies and then make sure they are adequately dosed according to these studies.

CardioBurn starts off with some great thermogenic ingredients, which is the reason I personally take burn products. I like to get my sweat on! If I’m not dripping by the end of my workout, I’m disappointed. When looking at this panel, my favorites to see are Grain of Paradise, gamma-butyrobetaine (GBB), and CapsiAstra.

L-Carnitine Tartrate, Acetyl & L-Carnitine – 1000mg

These are two different types of L-Carnitine where L-Carnitine Tartrate is typically known for aiding in recovery. While Acetyl L-Carnine (or ALCAR) is known to cross the blood-brain barrier more efficiently which is why it is seen often in nootropics. L-Carnitine is often considered a debatable ingredient for the purpose of fat loss as it needs more research called a “true” fat burner.

L-Carnitine is widely known to be a transporter of fatty cells to be used as energy. This is why we see it in fat burner products like CardioBurn.

The recommended dose of L- Carnitine is anywhere from 500mg-4 grams per day. This is a mix of the two types of in a “matrix” but we do see it landing in the ideal range.

FIt Butters

Caffeine Anhydrous – 275mg

Caffeine really doesn’t need to be defined or explained in our day and age as we truly do see it everywhere. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant which can be found in nature. Caffeine Anhydrous is the purest form of caffeine and it is rapidly absorbed. Caffeine is the best way to instantly increase your energy and performance for any activity.

Caffeine Anhydrous does not necessarily have a “recommended dose”. Everyone has their own tolerance that can change over time, and while some may get the “jitters” from 80mg, some may be so used to caffeine to where 400mg will barely do anything for them. Once you are going above 300mg of caffeine, this is considered a higher dose of the stimulant.

Di-Choline Bitartrate – 750mg

Choline Bitartrate is the most common form of Choline found in supplements. It is a precursor to the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine.

Choline is found naturally in many foods, including eggs. It is commonly used in many pre-workouts and fat burners for mental cognition. There is also some research that shows it may be beneficial for fat loss, but there needs to be more studies to prove this to be true.

The recommended dose is around 500mg-2,000mg. Too much may cause headaches. CardioBurn dose is within the recommended range.

Green Bean Coffee Extract (Std. 50% Chlorogenic Acid) – 50mg

You can find Green Coffee Bean Extract as a standalone, you can also find it in fat burners and GDAs. In fat burners, you’ll find it paired with ingredients such as Grains of Paradise, The studies are inconclusive on whether this would be beneficial. Green Coffee Extract may be beneficial for the purpose of blood glucose levels and blood pressure, however there doesn’t seem to be a benefit in terms of weight loss for healthy individuals. t must be noted that the participants were obese, and that the weight loss may have been secondary to the decreased glucose absorption. The recommended dosage for Green Coffee Bean Extract is focused on the amount of chlorogenic acid, which the recommended range is 120-300mg.

Sacred Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) – 35mg

Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) leaf has been used to treat obesity. In this study, Lotus leaf hot water extract with taurine supplementation showed antiobesity and hypolipidemic effects in high fat diet-induced obese rats. This study was completed in rats, not human trials. This does suggest it may aid in weight loss. There needs to be more studies completed to know the optimal dosage for this ingredient.

Grains of Paradise – 15mg

Grains of Paradise is a spice or herb that has multiple compounds within the seeds, including 6-paradol, 6-gingerol, 6-shogaol, and 6-gingerdione. Grains of Paradise is known for its strong, potent taste and smell.

A Grains of Paradise extract including 12.5% 6-paradol was found to promote White Adipose Tissue transformation into Brown Adipose Tissue. Why do this? Brown Adipose Tissue has greater energy expenditure as well as a negative energy balance leading to better fat loss.

The optimal dose of Grains of Paradise appears to be about 30mg once you access your tolerance. you can increase the dosage up to 80mg but may be beneficial at lower doses as well.

Gamma-Butyrobetaine (GBB) – 15mg

Gamma Butyrobetaine Ethyl Ester (GBB) is a molecule that your body converts to Carnitine in the body which may aid in fat loss and raising body temperature.

As a precursor to carnitine, we know the that carnitine has been shown to potentially aid in fat loss. There are many other possible benefits shown from Carnitine as well. But in regards to a thermogenic, fat loss would be most relevant. One side effect of GBB is sweating, which many actually like as an add to a fat “burner” for obvious reasons.

The recommended dose for GBB is currently 15mg-50mg once per day, although you may also take 25mg twice a day. Lower doses will likely still yield benefits, they just may not be “felt” as strongly as the higher doses. A common reason to have a lower dose is that some may not like the side effects of the higher dose.

Ginger Powder (Std. 5% Gingerols) – 15mg

Ginger is a long used herb or spice used both cooking and for many different remedies. Many of the compounds within ginger has been shown to have many healthy promoting benefits including immunity, antiseptic properties, and anti-inflammatory.  According to this study, ginger was shown to reduced body weight, waist-to-hip ratio, hip ratio, fasting glucose and insulin resistance index, and increased HDL-cholesterol. These are all possible indicators for ginger to be beneficial for weight loss.

The dose of ginger has many different listed dose ranges with no specific optimal dosages.

Rauwolfia Vomitoria – 1.5mg (Std. 90% Rauwolscine)

Rauwolfia is a plant found in West Africa. Rauwolscine is a chemical. It is related to Yohimbine. Basically, it is an alternate form of it with slightly altered properties.

It’s mechanisms of action are very similar to yohimbine, as it can act as an Alpha(2)Adrenergic antagonist (blocker) receptors. This then resulting in possible fat burning. Rauwolscine does so not by inducing fat loss, but by preventing the body from “stopping” fat loss. Rauwolscine is promising because it may be more effective due to higher potency on the same receptors.

While there is no recommended dose of Rauwolfia Vomitoria, it is looking at the Rauwolscine yielding. For Rauwolscine, the dosing for yohimbine is referenced.

It is 0.2mg/kg, dependent on the weight of the individual. As many people are sensitive to some side effects of yohimbine and similar products, it is safest to go on lower dosing of these ingredients. This ingredient can and will increase energy levels, thermogenesis and can, if taken too much, give you the cold sweats.

CapsiAstra (Dihydrocapsiate) – 1.5mg

CapsiAstra is a capsinoid found in chili peppers. CapsiAstra is a branded ingredient that has been shown to have a positive effect on energy expenditure, metabolism and thermogenics. found to be very beneficial to help increase energy expenditure, metabolism, and help improve body composition.

The recommended dosing of CapsiAtra is dependent on the user’s weight, MuscleSport gives us a 1.5mg dosing. Multiple studies showed it to be effective at 3mg and 8mg, no studies were conducted on 1.5mg.

EAA – 2g

While it does not list the specifics on ratio of EAAs in this product, this is not the focus but an added on ingredient to benefit CardioBurn. Seeing 2g added of EAA having our Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine listed is beneficial from MuscleSport.
