Choline Bitartrate: Uses, Side Effects, Interactions, Dosage and Supplements

Choline Bitartrate

Choline Bitartrate is the most common form of Choline found in supplements. It is a precursor to the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine.

Uses of Choline Bitartrate

Choline is an essential nutrient and can be found in many foods, a big one being eggs.

Choline Bitartrate is a form of Choline found in many supplements. It is commonly found in pre-workouts, fat burners and nootropics. Unlike Alpha-GPC however, it has been shown to not be as effective. We advise people to try out Alpha GPC for an acute boost in mental cognition as opposed to Choline Bitartrate.

Choline is a widely used ingredient for nootropic purposes. This is the reason why it is added to many pre-workout supplements, as increased focus can only be beneficial.

As for fat loss, there is some research showing it may be beneficial for fat loss, however more research needs to be done.

Interactions with Choline Bitartrate

Choline Bitartrate is commonly paired with many stimulants and nootropic ingredients. You’ll commonly find it added to ingredients such as Caffeine Anhydrous, Hordenine, Higenamine, Huperzine A, and L-Tyrosine.

As far as fat loss supplements go, you’ll find it paired with ingredients such as Grains of Paradise, Yohimbine, and Synephrine. We don’t advise using Choline alone to aid in fat loss, as diet and exercise are more important than any supplement will ever be.

Side Effects of Choline Bitartrate

Choline Bitartrate is typically well tolerated by healthy adults, but some side effects have been reported. Users have occasionally experienced headaches, fatigue, nervousness, nausea, diarrhea and gastrointestinal distress; also, this supplement can result in dizziness and low blood pressure in some individuals. If you are pregnant, always consult with your OB.

Recommended Choline Bitartrate Dosage

You’ll typically find Choline Bitartrate dosed around 500mg-2,000mg. We advise starting at a low dose and working your way up to see where you start noticing effects. Too much Choline at once may give you a headache.
